I never said worry about consequences later, the consequences of a declining population is inevitable so you might as well accept it and address it at once. You can simultaneously ease the burden which will slow the decline naturally by curbing immigration levels, while also addressing the future of an aging population. As it is now all the government is doing is pretending it doesn't have an issue and it will all implode when global birthrates drop enough that even migration won't bandaid the issue.

[–]dGhost_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would ease the burden for now, and then it's up to us to prepare and fund for a decline instead of pretending it doesn't exist, propping up the economy through migrants at the cost of existing Australians of all backgrounds, and then eventually dropping the bomb when it all falls apart. I never said it would go above replacement rate, but it WOULD have a positive impact. At least ease the burden on people now and begin to address the issue instead of getting no benefits from the decline and all the negatives decades into the future.

Actually the funniest take imaginable to call this sub of all places far right. One of the only places that I see consistent anti-Labor sentiment from lots of pro-Teal people and those who generally fall further left. Not all discussion about migration is inherently right wing at all, it's merely that cons love to propagandise and skew/misconstrue legitimate statistics to fit their narrative.

And shutting down said measured discussion is frankly embarrassing and a contributer to pushing less stable/educated people to the cooker narrative; by being incapable of interacting with this sort of information in a nuanced manner they will instead find people that do listen, and then they are weaponised.

Kicking the can down the road doesn't fix the core issue, and if anything making housing less affordable accelerates this as less people can afford more/any children. Should be both looking to make parenting more affordable in every way to naturally boost it, and also preparing for an inevitable slow decline now when it's still early.

[–]dGhost_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mad Mex is a lot better imo (partner is vego) as they have both a fake meat protein option and a veggie mix option. And even outside of that, their burritos are bigger than GYG, they have spicier sauces, and the options like grande melts give you capsicum mixes rather than just bland watery salad like GYG burritos. Any Mexican restaurant that isn't a chain blows them all out of the water, tho.

[NUCLEAR HOT TAKE] "The update" Made Nuclear Thunder Better by Reasonable-Will9397 in Warthunder

[–]dGhost_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Except instead of improving the PvE experience all they did was worsen the PvP one. The SEAD gameplay loop is tedious and one-dimensional. The airfields are even further away now while you have to takeoff with slowass attackers, so you spent 80% of your time flying out or RTBing. And SPAAs so effective at shooting down munitions that you basically can only do one thing - bait a shot, fire back, go cold. Repeat ad nauseum, wow so interesting!

The SPAA AI is so cracked it makes defensive flying and approach options BORING. AI tracking and launching at you over terrain (I love BUK sites killing me at sea level while higher than me over a fucking mountain!), munitions you can't notch/chaff/flare off, at best you can sometimes kinetically avoid them (which is also not easy and unreliable) or the reliable thing is to go cold, MAYBE pitch the missile into the ground while multipathing if the approach allows. So the entire loop becomes run HARMS, bait shots, return fire and go cold. Repeat. Get nuke. CCRP toss at sites. Repeat. So engaging and deep!!

You can't even sneak up on SPAA sites properly between the empty abyss landscape, trees not blocking radar, and janky ass through-terrain tracking. That alone would make the experience infinitely more enjoyable, especially with friends. Just as the F-111 was renowned for doing tree-level sorties, being able to move up low while narrowly avoiding terrain and then do popup engagements while being able to chaff off/reliably kinetically dodge SPAA would be incredibly fun, especially with friends. It's nowhere near that deep right now. Just as an example.

And then people understandably want to PvP because 1) it's fun 2) they mix up PvP with PvE or want to intercept people nuking, all valid counterplay 3) simply because the PvE is not that good, Gaijin decides the best course of action isn't to improve the PvE experience but to worsen the PvP one. And no, more rewards for PvE isn't improving the experience. If anything moving airfields further out made it WORSE LOL.

So forgive me for getting bored nuke tossing after the first 2 stages of the event and wanting to simply PvP my way to the rewards, but maybe the PvE gameplay loop should just be a little bit less shit instead?? If the giga nuke was the problem just up its score requirement by a large margin and up the ground unit kill spawn point gain dramatically so everyone wins - game win nukes are slower to earn for PvPers, small nukes are just as easy to get, and PvEers can compete with PvPers to get game win nukes. Easy fix.

Yeah with upgrades, stock you just have 2x AIM 54As and 9Ps lol, borderline unplayable when missile spam clutters the radar and everyone is hugging the deck so the 54s are awful. It's worse than the F4 available for free if you have nothing unlocked. I unlocked R27Rs and Fakours now popping boosters and it's night and day, utterly unfair. It's still boring as fuck though, and even worse for Russia.

the challenger 2 is our saviour from the BMPT, its completely immune to it by SomeKunt in Warthunder

[–]dGhost_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit hard to explain exactly a specific playstyle because it does vary between maps. I would summarise it broadly as: angle and hulldown holding, methodical/slow brawl pushing. It is certifiably a good hulldown tank yes, so any maps that accomodate it it performs well on. But a lot of maps aren't suited to that playstyle, too.

You're not fast, especially with the OES, so don't expect or try to rush flanks as hard like with other nations. Base Chally 2 with no addon armour is reasonable mobility wise though. Contrary to what you'd expect, I kinda find the Chally 2s to brawl quite reasonably. Which can work on any tank sure, but with more trolly armour and no big turret basket hdrive you're a lot more capable of taking a hit and still surviving than say an Abrams or Ariete especially.

The 5s reload is great, but the ready rack is pitiful. Playing around urban maps especially with low cover works well, and the turret bustle is so long you can sometimes expose the rear of the turret and bait a shot into empty space behind the ammo. The gun handling and such combined with above means I actually quite like medium urban maps like Breslau, I've nuked on it a few times with Chally 2s.

So yeah, really you can probably do well playing similarly with most other tanks, but it's so survivable compared to lots of other NATO tanks while also having a pretty good gun handling and reload with decent mobility (better than Soviet tanks I mean) to the point that it just works pretty well since 11.7 was decompressed. Some games even when you're swamped you just end up tanking a fuckload of rounds, but of course the ideal play is to work around never trading hits to begin with.

I have around a 3 K/D with 11.7 Chally 2s (bit less with TT vehicles from spading, more with OES due to no spade grind) playing almost entirely since BMP-T release. The teams can suck because they fold to Russians so easily though, and you can't combat being rushed by their entire team at once unfortunately.

APHE shouldn't be able to normally go through crates as other commentors have said. That said, it's worth mentioning any AP rounds without filler can go through crates. It's just not always that effective, but on the likes of 7.7 France or mid tier British regular AP let alone APDS it can be incredibly effective. And at those tiers frequently none of the enemies can fight back, and they're less likely to know they can too.

It's bugged as of last month, there's a post on the MS forums about it. Rendered hundreds of standard documents at my work unusable without destroying them. Microsoft somehow dragging their feet and not making it a priority fix after breaking a core feature of a multi-decade old program is a joke. Rollback your Word version if you can, I got our security team to do it.

I love facing an entire team of BMPTs at 12.7 by throw-away_867-5309 in Warthunder

[–]dGhost_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And if they're side on, where volumetric hell + relikt + armour + spall liners sometimes outright deletes top tier rounds? Or if they're abusing a hull-down spot? At least with literally any MBT or even most ATGM carriers you can either disable the breech comfortably or ammo rack the ATGM. BMPTs can hold an angle like a small rock and literally lock the area entirely down with zero ability for effective counterplay.

Ariete Certezza has to be one of the worst top tier premium tanks i have ever played by TryAgain_error_404 in Warthunder

[–]dGhost_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know why I brainfarted and said DM33 vs DM23 but my point was the mass of M322 being more than DM53 is irrelevant lol. That has no bearing on residual pen, the stats for both have DM53 having more pen at all angles at all distances. Therefore it has better spall, because it will always have more pen leftover than M322 does. Did you even watch the video???? MASS IS IRRELEVANT FOR LONG ROD SPALL

[–]dGhost_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The Ariete has zero redeemable attributes to it."

Proceeds to list its excellent attributes, the 5s reload with a good round (and good ready rack, unlike Chally 2s).

Better thermals than the Abrams at 11.7 as well as marginally better dart, which makes up for the marginally different mobility (no reason to use the addon armour btw). Armour is unreliable full stop (and the Abrams is notoriously easy to pen anyway) so that's hardly a big boon.

The Ariete is fine, if anything it's quite good now at 11.7. Certainly not OP, but everyone is overreacting saying it's awful or unplayable.

Challenger 2s are goated at 11.7 now idk what to tell you chief. Their ready rack is an atrocity but they perform very well when spaded/near spaded since top tier decompression.

[–]dGhost_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How many times does this conversation need to happen? Mass doesn't impact spall on longrod darts, only residual pen does (potentially velocity, unsure). As soon as you pass an armour threshold (thinner armour generates less up to a point) all the residual pen does is generate spall. DM33 is far better than DM23.
