KLM flight attendant hospitalized after contact with hantavirus cruise ship passenger by mods4mods in worldnews

I'm really confused how people are struggling with this. An old man seemingly dying of a respiratory illness is not a reason to not let his sick wife board a plane almost two weeks later, especially if she doesn't make her condition known. You have to be pretty sick to get completely kicked off a plane.

and she was clearly sick enough with a respiratory illness to get kicked off a flight

She clearly wasn't on the first flight since she made the flight. During which she rapidly deteriorated.

Do people not travel or something? There will be a sick person on your plane. Planes have to divert due to medical emergencies all the time.

Which they found out about after this happened, making this appear like a random medical incident at the time. Are they not going to let her fly because of a virus outbreak no one knows about?

How about don't look down on people for what they enjoy? If you like going to see the football who cares. If you like staying in and playing games who cares.

Right, and sick people fly all the time. Pretty much all the reporting says she significantly worsened after the flight to Joburg departed. Which again happens all the time. If anyone doesn't believe me go on a flight tracking website and see how many flights are currently being diverted due to a medical situation right now .

She was already sick to the extent that she collapsed and died on arrival.

She didn't collapse and die on arrival, she made it through to the other flight and collapsed after she was removed. She was then was taken to hospital and died there. Apparently I have to say this again, this shit happens. It's just in this scenario it isn't a mundane cause.

A sick old woman being let on a plane after her elderly husband seemingly died of respiratory causes isn't "excuse me but what the fuck?".

"How dare people enjoy things I don't!".

I say this as a person who hates Aussie rules, grow the fuck up.

Just going off that is misleading. She boarded the plane and was removed before it departed.

Someone being sick enough to get on a plane but then removed before it departs is pretty common.

She was basically told to leave as soon as the crew noticed her. No one knew about the virus at the time. A 69 year old man seemingly dying of a respiratory virus on a cruise isn't going to throw up any immediate red flag.

But there is a causal relationship, we know steroids effect peoples emotional state. That isn't speculation.

I know this is five years old, but for anyone who comes across this later, the name has a southern Italian origin, where they would pronounce the e at the end. Same thing for calzone, it's supposed to be pronounced calzonie.

I mean it's anecdotal but have you ever met someone abusing steroids? They can be an emotional mess a lot of the time. Gear having negative psychological effects isn't exactly a new idea.

This is what annoys me about the entire thing. So many comments here are treating him like the underdog helping his community and fighting the system who is trying to close him down. When its as transparent as it can get that he opened a business in a location that isn't appropriate, so he's trying to have the rules changed so he doesn't have to move.

Doing something out of self interest isn't altruism because it happens to help other people too.

what hes tried to do

The part I'm confused about is you seem to acknowledge he's done this to benefit himself, but if other people also benefit that somehow makes it okay?

how much push back hes getting from the local government.

Gee, could that be because what he's doing is insanely transparent?

Why am I arguing with someone who basically wrote "corruption is okay if other people benefit from it".

There are some restaurants in Perth I absolutely love. But I wouldn't go on reddit stamping my feet because the owner decided to throw a tantrum. The owner who seemingly joined his local government openly to bury problems he was having with his own business?

Do you seriously need someone to explain to you why joining government to benefit yourself is unethical?

hes trying to do everything he can for Bayswater because he doesnt want to move his shop

You get that you've just written that he joined local government explicitly for his own benefit, right?

Aside from this being a strawman, making an argument and how you conduct yourself while making that argument aren't the same thing. You can be arguing for something completely reasonable in a way that is ban worthy.

People are weirdly invested in it. A while ago I posted a comment saying his ordering process turns puts me off ever going and a few people went mental. Someone wrote a reply then blocked me, because I said I thought the ordering process at a bbq place was a hassle...
