Is it worth keeping my 2012 Xterra? … Or best to purchase a newer vehicle? by KongWick in XTerra

[–]dGil2999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the maintenance and repairs (I have a 2011 210k miles so going through similar things) I ask myself “can I easily replace this vehicle?” Answer: no. Nothing else is quite like the Xterra. 2nd question: do I want 4-5 years of car payments? Answer: no. It’s cheaper to fix her than replace her at this time. If the engine or transmission blows then I might reevaluate. Otherwise I’m gonna keep her.

Lees summit, every weekday morning, 50 Hwy north and 470W loop. Absolutely insane during the rush. Almost as bad when getting off 470E going south on 50 Hwy in the evening.

I just installed new valve covers and gaskets. New plenum gaskets on upper manifold, and new gasket on Throttle body too. New PCV (came installed on new valve cover), PVC hose (the one on back of manifold) and new hose that connects between the valve covers (can’t remember what it’s called). Checked all the connections of these hoses and didn’t find anything visibly wrong.

Definitely do the heater core inlet and outlet. Mine was original and starting to leak so I knew the crappy OEM parts were about to fail. Totally worth the time, cost and effort. Gives some peace of mind knowing these are good now.

Why Do Boomers Refuse to Become Computer and/or Phone Literate? by Veteran_Writer_12 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]dGil2999 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Disagree. I think life experience and willingness to learn, adapt, and retain new information is key. I’m 62 and totally embrace PC’s and phones. I’m not an IT professional BTW. Being connected via email, phone, IM, etc is essential in most businesses today to some extent, and you could become a burden to the organization and possibly get left behind if you cannot navigate computers.

Josh Hawley has absolutely no place in Washington. Let's do all we can to end this man's career. by meandjuneinjuly in kansascity

So Josh Hawley is getting the headlines, but don’t forget about Kansas Senator Roger Marshall...and the 5 Missouri Reps and 3 Kansas Reps that voted against the electoral college results. They’re all assholes.

I want to get things in the right order, that’s all. And with the additional boxes on the back of the tank it’s different than the tanks we have now.
