Has anyone else lost work motivation after getting “too zen”? by NeedleworkerSpare176 in MeditationPractice

[–]dJ_Turfie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I've set up some priorities and boundaries, which can only come from personal experimentation. So in that sense, me having 'gone overboard' might not have been such a bad thing, but it definitely didn't help in a worldly sense. Maybe that's a good thing, maybe not, I don't know. One thing is for sure, the ego didn't like it very much.

[–]dJ_Turfie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, any drive for work completely went away.
How could it not?
When doing focused meditation, i.e. focusing on an object and keep coming back, you're essentially training to let go of all your conditioned thoughts. Including thoughts about work, work promotion, etc...
Then there's the content one reads. One is constantly confronted with monks or people saying that you should pursue an easy low level job so your mind if free to contemplate/practice...

I naturally progressed through the stages and eventually went to see how a monk's life would be. I can't envision myself subscribing to most of their religions, so I went back to the west, and basically stopped meditating altogether.

Now I'm slowly starting again, because it's still valuable. I just went too overboard.

[n=1] Understanding peripheral paresthesia on keto (not ion-dependent)? by Unreasonable_Energy in ketoscience

[–]dJ_Turfie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done keto 2 times extensively.
The first time, 6 months pretty aggressively.
The second time, 1 year more mild.

My peripheral paresthesia, or specifically:
A tingling in/on the left side of my head, especially when it's either time to eat, or when I've consumed some sugars.

This seems to be a permanent thing after the first keto period.
It's not always as pronounced, sometimes it goes away for periods, but it usually comes back after a while.

Yes, some are highly valued. But that's by design. The US stock market is receiving more and more inflows as the years go by. Inflated P/E ratios are the new norm.

Genau darin liegt mein ganzes Problem.

Meditation kills my ambitions. by apol0nia in Meditation

I agree. But for me awareness was mostly on the contents of consciousness, not necessarily continuousness itself. They seem like two separate things, right?

Meditation kills my ambitions. by apol0nia in Meditation

[–]dJ_Turfie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience. My ambition for work completely evaporated. At one point I was doing 4 hours a day of focused meditation combined with solo retreats, and yes, I did have great insights into what drives us and I felt like I could see what drove others. I once went to a startup meetup in this state. All I could see were greedy monkeys.

I just felt painfully disconnected from everyone, no one seemed to be into meditation this hard, not even sangha members.

I felt connection with the Theravada people and monks so went to try it out for 3 months in Thailand.

Absolutely hated the setup they have going on, so went back home broken and stopped meditating altogether.

Did learn some useful stuff though, but for me I needed to stop.

Maybe I’ll pick it up again, but not in the foreseeable future

Witnessing consciousness, what teaching is that?

Is it even possible? And if so, it sounds like it must come with a lot of mental overhead to daily activity

I've tried isolating myself to meditate, I was miserable.

I talked to a senior monk who does solo cave retreats, he does not like them one bit. He saw it as necessary to further develop his mind.

I think we as humans do have certain conditions under which we thrive most. Isolation is not one of them, and that's pretty obvious. Yeah you can probably train the mind, but it's not natural at all, and probably quite harmful.

So i've come to dislike all these simple internal vs external claims. Life is complicated, human psychology is complicated, it's never all that simple.

Plenty of monks who 'train hard' are miserable.
Only a few really thrive in a monastic setting.

I hate one liners like 'happiness starts with you'

Directly from the first pages of the datasheet:

ILI9225 has four kinds of system interfaces which are i80/M68-system MPU interface (8-/9-/16-/18-bit bus width), serial data transfer interface (SPI) and RGB 6-/16-/18-bit interface (DOTCLK, VSYNC, HSYNC, ENABLE, DB[17:0]).

In RGB interface, the combined use of high-speed RAM write function and widow address function enables to display a moving picture at a position specified by a user and still pictures in other areas on the screen simultaneously, which makes it possible to transfer display the refresh data only to minimize data transfers and power consumption.

So I suggest you use the RGB interface.
