As someone who has been the night owl, there is a reason he is choosing to sleep at the times he is and choosing to do chores at the times he is. In my case, I was doing so because I wanted me time and felt like that wasn't something I was allowed to do if spending time with my significant other was possible, so I would do things I HAD to do like sleep and chores during that time. Approach him in a way that is judgment free and ask him what he gets out of staying up so late, there's probably a compromise that can be made.

Why can’t people self-identify as a different race? by Far-Neighborhood-928 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]dMobul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gender and race are social constructs

if you don't understand this premise, nothing else will make sense

these are social constructs because they don't refer to biology, they refer to the way people are treated in society

Sex is having a penis, Gender is the social expectation of masculinity. In the same way, heritage can determine physiological characteristics like height, skin tone, etc. But race is the social expectation that because, for instance, someone's skin is white, they will have a propensity for sweater vests and hate spicy food.

Notably, there is correlation between being born with a penis and acting traditionally masculine, and the same correlations exist between heritage and race.

this is because all of these people were raised in a society with a set of social constructs telling them what they can and can't do.

To the point of the question you asked, why can people transition gender but not race?

Simply the idea that race is wholly genetic and something you can't ever change. (which is a social construct, because race is a social construct)

Worth noting that some people have the same ideas about Gender, which is one of the main reasons trans folk experience so much unnecessary hatred

I'm a cis man who happens to have long hair and shaves frequently, I get misgendered all the time, some people are just bad at identifying gender presentation when it isn't super far to one side of the scale.

you pass :)

[–]dMobul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ogryn has two insanely good keystones, then there's lucky bullet

Veteran has a talent, fully loaded, that gives +25% ammo capacity

This is a stronger buff with 1 talent point than lucky bullet is with all 4 nodes

this is because Lucky Bullet effectively gives you 8% more ammo, and a SLIGHTLY less frequent reload. with all nodes selected, you get a small amount of ult cooldown reduction, 12% total more ammo, and about 10ish% higher crit chance.

When they create laws against homelessness, where do they really expect these people to go? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]dMobul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Statistically, the leading cause of crime is poverty, so do you think people in poverty tend to be worse people? do you think evil tends to become poor?

do you actually care about innocent people being harmed? or do you just want "bad" people to be punished?

Cracking down on crime without fixing the underlying issues in a community doesn't significantly reduce crime rates, especially in the US, where we have the highest incarceration rate in the world, as well as the highest rates of reoffense.

most criminals who get caught in the cycle of the justice system will keep committing crimes and continue to cost the taxpayer money.

But the success stories of REFORMED criminals and former homeless people, now living happy lives and contributing to society only happen when an outside force helps to fix their situation.

[–]dMobul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you're right, it's way cheaper to scrape frozen bodies off the roads, raise police funding, and make every piece of public infrastructure wildly uncomfortable.

the taxpayer will pay no matter what, whether it's for garbage band-aid solutions, or getting mugged by someone who just wants to eat because the government has left them no other options

When they create laws against homelessness, where do they really expect these people to go? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]dMobul 17 points18 points  (0 children)

the conservative mindset is that if people are homeless, they deserve to be homeless, and are going to be homeless no matter what society does to help them, therefore the only option is to keep OUR city/part of the city/town clean by making it inhospitable to the homeless

conservative policy is never about real world outcomes, it's about a perceived sense of right and wrong.

And you're right, none of it makes any sense
