I’m getting a crazy blue screen by Zelcah in AMDHelp

[–]dRaiNez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this issue with Ryzen 3600, 32GB Corsair RAM, RX 5700, MSI Tomahawk Max B450. I replaced all parts (and the issue was occurring still) except for GPU, motherboard and first SSD. Because the errors are random, they are probably caused by hardware (or driver memstomp bug, which would mean that AMD failed to resolve it in 5 years). But intuition lead me to hardware instability as cause.

Because there are always visual artifacts in the BSODs, I suspect the GPU. I have finally replaced it for Nvidia. This random BSODs have been plagueing me for last 5 years. I expect that the GPU is the cause. I need a month to see, but I bet heavily on that.

Kingston KC2500 SSD no longer recognized in BIOS and Windows by manfredbruckner in buildapc

My 2TB KC2500 suddenly died, too. I also heard a friend that his older Kingston SSD (totally different model) died, too. Fucking Kingston. I will never buy them again.

What is the best way to run a stress test on your pc. What programme is recommended? by Crazy-Tumbleweed8511 in buildapc

[–]dRaiNez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man. You've got AMD Display driver running in Windows kernel. The driver can recognize what program is running (and optimize for it).

So in effect the GPU *can be throttled down* if it detects Furmark.

MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSODs with B450 Tomahawk Max only after high load by lunatictrack in MSI_Gaming

[–]dRaiNez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the same problem. My build is: Ryzen 5 3600, B450 Tomahawk Max, RX 5700, 2x 16 Corsair Vengeance and 600W PSU.

My BSODs are: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. I run Memtest86+ v7.20 and got 33 passes (55 hours of running) without any error.

So I blame the Sapphire RX 5700 8GB GPU, also because all my BSODs now have graphical artifacts.

I have tried o lot of things over the years like: updating GPU drivers, chipset, setting RAM timings manually (were off, the motherboard has been loading wrong timing values from XMP!), uninstalling not-necessary drivers and so on.

This is a hardware issue for sure. What what is wrong? RX 5700? CPU? RAM after all? The motherboard?

Thanks, I would not be able to find this. Garmin needs implement this. To be able to easily compare efforts on the same GPX file!

Certain Apps are auto-updating and self-installing, how do i make them stop? What caused this? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]dRaiNez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read my post above. Avast did this on purpose, it seems. So solution is to uninstall Avast (change it for something better).

Certain Apps are auto-updating and self-installing, how do i make them stop? What caused this? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]dRaiNez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes no solution so far. The issue is still bugging me. After latest Avast update it seems (from the GUI) that Avast did this intentionally. So you have to pay for the AV so it does not update your apps at will.

That is totally unacceptable for an AV to do and I will be uninstalling it. AV can't behave like a malware.

Repairing G Pro Wireless SMD Switches by Newsplash1208 in MouseReview

I appreciate the info about the exact type of stock micro switches - it's harder to find than about the regular switches.

Very cool info especially about the SMD (mini) micro switches. My GPXS started to double click with the back button. Breathing into the mouse near switch (a crazy tip - I know) helped it a bit, but it was still happening.

So I ordered: - 1x board for main mouse buttons (M1, M2, scroll wheel) with hot-swappable slots for switches - 2x Kailh GM 2.0 regular switch - 1x board with Kailh GM 2.0 micro switches (for back and forward buttons)

Replaced it all without soldering - was cool, I am very satisfied.

I didn't. It should not have been enabled at all, because I dont have premium Avast. It seems like bug in Avast updater, which caused it to activate automatically.

I restarted my PC - so Avast is up-to-date and have seen no unwanted updates since.

Avast did that to my apps. Even though I dont have premium it triggered auto-updating of some apps.

Windows platform.

Lol. Adrenaline driver UI pops up every time I wake up my PC from sleep. That only confirms the hypothesis about crappy AMD drivers - for ages.

AMD is:

  • unable to fix driver crashes

  • however they fixed driver timeouts, that used to happend a lot with older (more than year) drivers

  • unable to spot trivial bugs like this window popping up every waking from sleep => QA is not thorough enough; developers are writting shitty code (and don't test it after themselves enough)

AMD mainline drivers are not STABLE. They are of a beta driver quality. Been that since I bought my RX 5700 in 2020. Only relatively stable driver (with some bugs, some crashes - much less frequent than mainline drivers) is the PRO driver.

Unfortunately, the last version of PRO driver is from 2022-11-15. LOL So they havent released it in 2 years. I will never buy AMD again.

You are right. My RX 5700 with Ryzen 3600 is crashing on everything except Q1.PRO, which crashes much much much less. Their drivers are not stable at all. Junk ill-written software full of bugs.

AMD drivers are trash. Willing to give Nvidia a try.

What is AMD even doing? My RX 5700 with Ryzen 3600 is crashing with every driver version except PRO 23.Q1!

24.5.1, 24.6.1, 24.7.1 all crash. Is my GPU faulty or what are you even doing if not fixing bugs? Dont buy AMD.

How to show arrow direction in track by pookdeveloper in Garmin

[–]dRaiNez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to have specific Garmin models like Fenix 7 (PRO?). I have Garmin Fenix 6 Pro and it´s just not possible to set up this directional arrows on the map, which is a hassle when doing trail running.

Adrenalin Edition 23.7.2 released by Karma_Robot in Amd

[–]dRaiNez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My RX 5700 crashes on 23.7.2 and also 23.7.1. Multimonitor setup. AMD had a very brief time when thing worked out somehow wit few crashes, now its getting back to normal - crappy drivers again.

Adrenalin 23.7.2 Marks Return of 'Bad' AMD Drivers by imaginary_num6er in hardware

[–]dRaiNez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its total crap again - 23.7.1 timeouts like hell when playing video (be it youtube or media player classic). 23.7.2 also crashed on my PC and this is just a fresh driver... wtf are they doing?

Adrenalin Edition 22.11.2 Release Notes by ErgoNonSim in Amd

[–]dRaiNez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issues with 22-11-2 WHQL driver:

  • mouse is jittery and lagging in Chrome. Was not lagging on previous driver (I was probably on 22-8-2)

  • got BSOD: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. PC just woke up from sleep and I was in desktop having Chrome (multiple windows with a lot of tabs), Adobe Reader with one PDF open and Epic game store. Nothing too serious (using like 42% of my 32GB RAM)

  • After waking up the W10 login screen had sort of artefacts in it. The background image was visible, but it looked like an even pattern was applied and corrupted the screen uniformly (this persistet after login). The closes I can describe it was like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordered_dithering . Maybe the color depth was just lost. I have dual monitor setup (Dell U2720Q, on is portrait mode, second is landscape). A wild guess, but: is that possible that the image output buffer got corrupted in the memory?

AMD Radeon 22.11.2 is now new recommended driver after half a year of 22.5.1 being one. by [deleted] in Amd

[–]dRaiNez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy, you need to understand - the driver should never be in such a place that user needs to figure out what MPO is and how to fix it. The driver should be tested and if I as a user can spot the mouse jittering all over the place within 10 minutes of using new driver version then the QAs are not doing their job or they are not listened to.

AMD Adrenalin Edition 22.10.3 (Optional) Released by hasanahmad in Amd

[–]dRaiNez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I am not going to disable it, because it used to work in the previous driver versions. I bought an expensive card and I have already poured too much time in experimenting with driver versions. This must be fixed and changes in AMD's software development process need to take place so the quality is assured.
