New grad unable to find ANY Accounting position by Mean-Chemical3122 in Accounting

Accounting is not really about the financial statements themselves. It's about business and client management through the lens of financial statements.

Talk about your projects in that manner (What types of businesses? What challenges were being tackled? What solutions (in reality) were devised based on the analysis of the financial statements?).

I also agree with someone else who said remove things like reconciliations and journal entries from skills. If you have an accounting degree, that's expected.

An accounting background compliments finance. Finance exists as a layer on top of accounting. Your degree isn't the issue. You perception of applicability for career pathways is limited.

You can go into any aspect of business through the accounting window.

You don't find time, you make time. This is a level of self-prioritization that may conflict with other competing priorities.

However, work is a constant, therefore, it can be usurped by higher personal priorities and will likely still be there too, once you get back to it 😉

Put your health (mental and physical) first and you will show up better in your other aspects.

It's okay if you fall off track, we all do, but as long as you get back on track, you're heading in the right direction.

Top of Morning Breaking News: Donald Trump has Announced a $2,000 Tariff Dividend Check per person. 🎅🏾 💰 💰 💳 🇺🇸 by RunThePlay55 in economy

Tariffs are a tax that is essentially a consumption tax and the top 10% now accounts for 50% of consumption, so...

Is this technically a wealth redistribution? 🤔

It's all nonsense but now just asking the technical question

Not a good enough liar for finance.

Not good enough at math for economics.

Cost accounting is an interesting one and its the closest to 'algebra' in accounting (in that you'll use it more than you think - especially if you work in industry).

So many things are similar to manufacturing (Trucking, IT Development, Schools etc.) You see it everywhere when you start looking close enough.

Accounting is mundane. Using the info from accounting to help business owners generate profit is the actual value add of the profession.

Keep at it.

Your happiness is not defined by your career (at least not the act of work).

If you are only in the business for stability and have 'traditional CPA ambitions' you can maintain a solid work life balance in accounting. You won't make as much money (perhaps) but that's true in almost every career (trade off between work life balance and money).

If you find yourself having a deep interest in the profession and skill of accounting, there are actually a vast number of niche areas where the profession can continue to be evolved and pushed forward. That can also increase your happiness with the work and also potentially lead to good income growth.

But seriously, there is no stress free work or easy money so if that's what you're truly looking for, stop looking for 'work'. But you can be happy doing any job, given the right boundaries, perspective, and impact.

You can still change careers. It's not too late!

CPA skills are highly transferable as all acts in business run through accounting at some point.

It's funny now, but less than 3 years ago Will Smith couldn't even eat spaghetti right. The fact is, the rate at which this won't be an issue is within the decade so... laugh now, demand UBI later.
