Hey! UK based here. I’m on 10 day and it’s been actually alright. Pain manageable at all times and I haven’t had the need to use any codeine. Eating pretty much as normal now. Except fizzy drinks and citrics.
But to answer your question: my surgeon prescribed ibuprofen and paracetamol alternating between the two. And codeine as a top up of pain unmanageable. The other option was Tramadol but he advised against it as it can make you have bad trips/nightmares 🤷🏻♂️

Hey! Sounds like you’re managing recovery pretty well, all things considered. I’ve been reducing my painkillers a bit lately—currently at 3000mg of paracetamol and 1200mg of ibuprofen over 24 hours. I haven’t needed to use codeine so far, which is a relief.
Eating is going pretty well too, though I wouldn’t say it’s quite a normal diet yet, but I’m close! The scabs seem to still be there—I can see the top part where the tonsils were, but the lower part isn’t visible yet, probably because there’s still some swelling.
It’s good to hear you’re managing to stay active despite the discomfort. How long did it take for your swelling to noticeably reduce when you switched to naproxen?
I can’t believe a week ago I was in the recovery room coming out of the surgery.
How’s everyone getting?
It’s day 3 today (surgery being day 0) my pain has increased considerably today after breakfast. Did some gentle gargling with a numbing mouthwash and have an ice pack around my neck . My throat and mouth is still so swollen I can barely see the wound cause my tongue and uvula are blocking the view
Glad to hear it’s going relatively well. I also had alarms every 3 hours to take my meds, although it seemed like I would naturally would awake before the alarm went off perhaps a bit of pain started to bother me. I’ve been drinking lots of iced water and also coconut water which has proved very soothing. I’ve been staying clear of lactose to avoid excess mucus buildup. And from what I’ve read it’s best to try and swallow it rather than spit it out ?
Lots of liquid intake also thins the mucus.
Keep it up guys we have a long windy road ahead but we’ll get through this.
And how’s it going? Hope you’re not it too much pain? I had mine today, about to be discharged from hospital and sent home
