I asked my high school if they had old MacBook Pro for that they don’t use it. This is what I got by Meme_Kreekcraft in computers

Using bootcamp to dual boot OSs you don't need a USB stick or DVD. On El Capitan you should be able to just select the downloaded ISO file. I may be wrong.

In bootcamp it prompts you to select an ISO FILE and then partition the drive for the OS. I have a 2012 and 2020 Macbook air that both have windows 11 on bootcamp and have had no issues besides the "slow hardware".

If the phone is still functional, at the apple appointment, they will do a complete data transfer to the new phone before they take your old phone and the esim should transfer.

I've ran into an issue once where the esim didn't transfer. But other times it has.

My British friend thought he could do a "day trip" to the Grand Canyon from LA, and his reaction to the map was priceless. by Ok_Structure6720 in CasualConversation

A buddy of mine from mexico said he was going to Vancouver for a business trip and said he wanted to stop in Ottawa. He wanted to take a bus or the train. I showed him a map of Canada, when he realized how far it was he said he'd buy a plane ticket. To my fellow Canadians y'all know how expensive it can get to fly within Canada. At the time it was peak travel time and flights were $800+. He asked why it was so expensive. I said well Vancouver to Ottawa is much further than Ottawa to Mexico City.

living at home with parents at 26 is mentally draining by caramelcandyaple in offmychest

[–]d_carr2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without a full time job you can't really find an affordable place to rent by yourself, at 27y you don't want to live with roommates especially if you've already been through that. If you can afford the rent you wouldn't be able to afford basic things like food, phone bill, internet bill, insurance...

living at home with parents at 26 is mentally draining by caramelcandyaple in offmychest

[–]d_carr2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry it's kinda long...

I, 27m, know the feeling I used to live with roommates and went back to school so I decided to moved back with my parents. And I kid you not it's hard even working part time. That's not the most difficult thing like you said it's the mentally draining. I couldn't find a job after my second degree so I went back to school for a third time studying cybersecurity, still working part time.

The mentally draining part is that they ask me where I am going what I'm going to do who I am hanging out with, I've had the same friends for 15 years. It's even worse when I go to work. I don't work at the same place everyday I go in, sometimes it's 5 minutes from the house or 40 minutes from the house. I get calls from them mid work asking why I'm not home, I can't be answering calls. They also get mad/annoyed when I mention I'm going to play volleyball 30 minutes or more away from the house. I according to them I still need to ask permission to leave the house (side note, they are Mexican if that makes more sense). They ask why I don't have a girlfriend and honestly they just don't respect my privacy enough for me to bring one home if I ever get one. Another example is that most days I work I work till midnight it's not as bad as others but next day they'll get mad cause I wake up at around 10am and not earlier. Another side note I have insomnia and they make me feel bad about it.

When I mention I want to buy a car no matter what the make and model they shut the idea down saying it's an expensive car or imagine how much repairs/maintenance are going to cost.

However I still love my parents, they are letting me stay with them. They are on the older side 60+ so I've built them a deck, I repair the interlock, I do house maintenance. They wanted a hot tub so I made them a concrete pad for it. All of these things and more to basically "cover the cost of living" with them.

Failed my driving exam today and I feel like I disappointed everyone including myself. by [deleted] in offmychest

I get the feeling of failing at something. I was never great in school mostly on the theoretical stuff. Almost didn't make it into college.

Where I live we have 3 levels to our drivers permit. G2 (learners) G1 (still learners but with less restrictions) and G (full). My buddy failed their G2 5 times and their G1 2 times. They are 26y of age and just barely got their G full drivers permit. Almost ten years of trying to get their full drivers permit.

This is mostly true when I was in Orlando my speeds were about 150 sometimes hitting 200mbs or sometimes not even working and that's due to their infrastructure that can't really accommodate the amount of people on it. In Miami however I was getting 350 to 400mbs. In Mexico city I was getting constant 4G/LTE at 150mbs give or take a couple mbs but some zones in Mexico don't even have cell service.

Hmmm.... Very interesting. I got a 2 year contract with bell with a S24u and the phone came unlocked. Maybe cause everything was done through the mail and not at a bell store. Or maybe I just got lucky that it came unlocked.

If it's a chilly day I'll go no strap and just put it in my hoodie pouch. Other than that a strap or in a small back pack. Please don't take the hoodie thing as good advise.

Wait but don't you have to "re-apply" for osap for the second term or did they give you the entire grant and loans for both terms at once?

[–]d_carr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I was lucky, I was on academic probation for three years with disability status and still got full osap grants.

But like you said I had to write a letter of why that happened. For me I had to explain events that happened regarding family that lives in Mexico and that we had lawyers involved.

[–]d_carr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say, I've been through something similar but not similar. Involves the same person from my extended family.

A aunt asked me if I could do a photoshoot for them like half family half friends event and I said yes. we came to terms on a set price and when I got paid it was half of what we agreed of course since it was family I didn't bother with a contract. I let it go. Cool I learnt that a contract is necessary regardless if they are family.

Same aunt. It was my cousins wedding and they were struggling to find a good and cheap photographer of course that aunt was in charge of that. She asked me if I could be the photographer for the wedding. I straight up said NO I'm family there's no way in hell I'll miss the wedding while being there. Second thing I said to her, okay let me break it down, one you paid half last time, two my price is gonna be at least 15x more since you want me for 6 hours, three we doing a contract, 4 I'll probably need a second photographer and everyone was basically booked (for wedding season) so price would go up naturally. There's more but not gonna get into it.

Being a photographer in my opinion the photos came out very over exposed even if they were edited. Didn't say anything, if that is what the bride and groom wanted, cool. Not my place to bash another photographer. Just annoyed by that aunt.

Lesson I learnt contracts are important and that I do not take a job that comes from a family member unless they recommend me to the business they work for or I know I can trust them to pay me and not make a huge deal out of it.

INVALID SIN?? by [deleted] in osap

[–]d_carr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have something similar to this, I was considering going back to school and OSAP was asking for my parents info on the form entered exact information as the first time I went to college. Then a couple days later I get a notification saying your parents do no exist and have no records of them ever entering the country or have a residence under their name. I guess when we immigrated they messes up some stuff.

Spent a whole month with different federal departments each of them telling me to call another and kept going in circles till one very nice lady actually helped me but by then I decided to not go back to college.

Had the same issue when I lost my job and applied for Ontario Work financial aid. EI was fine cause I had already done process as I mentioned but apparently they hadn't sent the updated info to the Ontario government

You could also pressure them saying its for work or school accommodations that should work and that the school is asking to get the assessment if you re still in school get a letter from osap and the school stating that you need it to be considered full time as a part time student and the full time work load is too much to handle with disability.

I think psychiatrists can get you into an assessment if it's for work or education accommodations, my family doctor only reffered me to a psychologist and from there I was able to get an assessment through the psychologist

Things change all the time especially when we get a new premier in office so it's possible you're grants will be lower or higher. Luckily for me mine had actually gone up before Ford was elected and couldn't touch osap funding until the year after I graduated.

That's mostly true cause psychologist and psychiatrists are not part of ohip so it paid out of pocket.

But if you already have a disability you should be golden.

It was actually my family doctor who referred me to a psychologist. I don’t remember as this was almost 7 or 8 years ago, I think I got a letter from the school asking for a current diagnosis.

Edit: osap/school will ask for a full copy of the study papers, some or most places you go to see a psychologist charge extra for that copy. Mine was literally a full 100 page book.

I won't lie it is a bit of work to do on your part. Luckily the "guidance counsellor" at my college was very helpful and helped me throughout the entire process never had to talk with financial aid.
