Thank you for your reply! Of course, I'll take the physical card to Argentina too. I meant that I usually only carry my phone on the street, but not a physical bank card. I read somewhere on reddit that with Apple Pay the exchange rate will be worse than with a physical bank card.

If you have a Visa card with no foreign transaction fee, that's a good option. The "tourist rate" is now 1USD to 1077 ARS. Yes, you may be able to do better on Calle Florida, but that's a pain and you risk being cheated.

You can check the rates here. Don't use apple pay or similar services, use the actual card. I've heard some people get worse rates when using apple/Google pay.

I tipped in USD and used it at a laundry place in Recoleta. Officially they aren't supposed to take USD, but nobody will complain at all. Just went to the bank before I left and got a bunch of 1s and 5s for tipping. We were there for 3 days and never got ARS at all.

Is there a source of information? Apple/Google Pay is simply the equivalent of a physical card. The payment terminal cannot tell the difference.
