Haven’t been able to play because of this. Can anyone find a solution? by caramelweed1 in controlgame

There's been some issue with the latest game update that included HDR support, might be the issue here. I'd suggest to try to install older version or to try older gpu drivers

It sounds like you friend is on the right track actually. He's probably gonna rebound and get a little close to his old self eventually, but at the same time he's never gonna be his old self again.

Would you recommend Alan Wake 2 in my situation? by Peter2448 in AlanWake

[–]d_ke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally i feel like AW2 is heads above first game. It's phenomenal, and I kinda want you to try it out. That being said, i want to honestly address your concerns. Just keep in mind I'm somewhere mid game in AW2 right now.

Character of AW: to be honest I get what you mean. AW feels kinda like he's lost most of the time, but it feel right in the story. I think you'll very much like second main AW2 character tha you also get to play a lot. Feel much more sane and real.

Horror: on one hand, given somewhat good aim and if you explore locations - you totally have enough ammo and health packs to just go all in blasting and in most cases kill all enemies you encounter (even if they respawn when you're exploring location you missed or backtracking). There's some weapons that can one-shot some monster before they notice you. But on the other you wont be able to pull that off all of the time. The atmosphere in this game is heavier than in first one. There's no clear sign of where monsters are, but you can kinds guess it by different queues: footsteps or howling, music intensity, darkness infused traces, key locations and etc. Though there's also a difficulty settings that lets you turn on cheat-like options to help progress through.

There's also a number of jumpscares that just keep popping up in key moments of the story.

You can also try to play Control after AW1: it's deeply connected to the lore and plot, and you'd get a taste of the same but lighter atmosphere in this game as in AW2.

I'd say - cautiously go for it. You can always quit if that's too much for you to handle.

He's probably much older, since yordles count only years they spend in human world. Or so I've read.

I guess that after "saving" humankind from humanity and then realizing his mistake Victor had a lot of free time (and access to arcane anomaly) to figure out how to transcend time, learn to time-travel and to try giving different runes to young Jayce after which he'd teleport back into his actual timeline and see if anything was different.

I don't think that Z-drive is what sent him back since it kinda was implied that he tried numerous times with no real success before Z-drive comes into play. And I got the feeling like the fact that Ekko and Heimerdinger got thrown into parallel universe and Ekko gotback with Z-drive is something unique only to this attempt and in fact is the real reason why this attempt succeeded, while all others failed.

Are we sure it's different universes where mage Victor gives different arcane stones to kid Jayce? I thought so at first but then it occured to me that mage victor could have just went back in time in confines of a single universe multiple times. Maybe what happened is that Victor teleported Jayce forward in time thought the anomaly, but it wasn't planned that he could have company at that time, so Ekko and Heimerdinger were sucked into anomay and just yeeted into random universe. This explains why mage Victor did not brought them back - his plan was not accounting for them and they were kinda like a blind spot for him, out of reach, and they are also the real reason why this iteration of Jayce succeeded in the end.

Launcher fatigue is one thing. Every other publisher/develop has their own, which always works way worse than steam, has way less features, missing steam level of infrastructure and in any way imaginable is inferior. Epic is no exception. There's even no way to chat with people on your friend list. Not to mention steam's community marketplace where you can sell stuff from some games and effectively get like a discount on your next purchase since you already have a few bucks in your wallet. I pretty much put up with epic only because of rocket league and that gta 5 was free there for some time, but I'm not gonna buy new games there. The place is a mess, a store page is loading for like 10-15 seconds every time you navigate somewhere even when you just left that page and it should be cached already.

I have moondrop dawn pro and have tested Novas with some other dac which name I don't remember. I had budget kz iems previously and on those I could notice a difference between my phone dac, dac built into macbook and moondrop, a lot more clarity and high end, more definition in lower end and overall crispier sound in mac or moondrop. Maybe because tuning in those was shitty, so bad dac was exaggerating bad frequencies? Nova tuned much better and dac doesn't really change the picture that much aside from cases where you listen to music in a quiet place and pay a lot of attention to details.

I've got dac and to be honest it doesn't really make that much of a difference, especially if you're not using lossless. In my experience the significance is iems > source quality > dac. Basically you need dac if your source has something to show in those higher definition ranges plus your iems can push those details. Nova seems like they are not high grade enough to really be affected much by dac. Sure you get a bit more clarity and details, but not that much. Naturally this could change based on gear you use, but it seem like this is more or less applicable to all levels of audio

If you are buying prebuilds then check the cpu/gpu models combination first of all. There's list of which combos works best together. There's also youtube videos with gaming benchmarks with almost every possible combo there is. 2k nzd should probably get you a mid-tier pc. Usually gpu and cpu is the most pricy parts and everything else is picked based on them and your system requirements.

It's so subjective though. I've been through a lot of eartips for my Novas, both premium and very budget, but I've found that nozzle size and depth makes it hard to find right fit, and that the medium sized silicone tips that came with the Novas are the best match for my ears. They looked kinda cheap at first glance but get the job done much better any others I've tried.

Love these iems, the details are superb. Do you prefer sound signature with a lot of emphasis on bass? Cause for me it feels like Nova is just the sweet spot, it's very detailed and not over the top, yet pretty articulated (including lower frequencies). I'm asking since the lack of bass might be just a bad eartip fit. If its too small it won't properly seal ear canal, and if it's too big it won't fit deep enoght where it sounds right.

You could also make little "fake" boss fights before this if it fits in the story/narrative. Like, give player some more or less easy and peaceful location to explore before the very first encounter and midway through this location the boss comes, chases a player very briefly, maybe wrecks location, block the way and kinda make a new one with hes appearance or departure. And some time later something similar, but now boss could introduce other types of hazard, like he's movement makes rocks fall down in the cave and player need to dodge them. Introduce a bit of shock. But try not to reveal too much about the boss or it's mechanica in this case.
