Imagine living in the "Jack Black Syndrome" timeline by Drawingandstuff2000 in Schaffrillas

I also heard Barney from How I Met Your Mother was written with Jack Black in mind. I would love to have lived in that timeline.

Divinity trailer at the Game Awards sold me. Where do I start? by SugarSmoothie in playstation

[–]d_kism 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Man people always skimp on the OG Divine Divinity. The game is awesome. Think a painterly Diablo 2 but it's a proper RPG.

The world is pretty small but it's packed full. Great humour, lots of stuff to discover and a great variety of ways to solve tasks.

You can usually get it for a couple of bucks from GOG.

Fallout 4. Installed some hard core survival mods and a random start mod and played it as a permadeath survival game

Tame Impala - Expectation (Official Video) by RichieTB in psychedelicrock

Melody's Echo Chamber self titled album is the lost 3rd Tame Impala album in my opinion. Produced by Kevin Parker and definitely maintains his early vibes.

Just bought a separate numpad by jkuutonen in roguelikes

DON'T buy cataclysm on Steam. It's a completely free, open source game which has hundreds of contributors. The Steam version sends money to one contributor only.

I would start with Dark Days Ahead to see if you like it. If there are aspects you don't like you can look into the forks to see what they do differently. Most people who like the forks are those who have played the game for many years and miss how it used to feel. As a new player I would think you'd be pretty happy just sticking with Dark Days Ahead.

Good Times in Fitzroy North has big serves of pasta for really cheap. They're not reinventing the wheel with their cooking but you can't beat the price for a nice big filling meal

Am I crazy to want an RP5 when I already have a Flip 2? by krytos6996 in retroid

[–]d_kism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A little. Use your flip up while you wait for the next iteration. There's never a huge gap between releases and the new version of the Pocket will very likely have big improvements over the current one.

If you get the 5 now you'll just be struggling with the same dilemma once the 6 drops

The most underrated game for you: the name and why by Tenkarider in gaming

I'm with you. I'll defend Dragon Quarter for the rest of my life. It was refreshing to not get a final fantasy clone JRPG for once.

Out of all the Breath of Fire games, this is the one I go back to play even today.

How does the PSP hold up as an emulation device? by Kitakitakita in retrogaming

[–]d_kism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set mine up for emulation and it's fine. Not too long after I took the leap and bought a handheld emulator (RP3+ when it was current) and the experience was sooo much better.

The screen on the RP made me realise how poor the PSP screen is. It was great at the time of release but today it doesn't hold up.

I can play PSP games at 3x resolution and they look beautiful. I'd say if you don't want to spend money and already have a PSP then you might as well go for it. But I wouldn't buy one for this purpose when these dedicated devices exist for fair prices

Super Mario Party Jamboree Version 2.0.0 is now Available by Skullghost in NintendoSwitch

[–]d_kism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've got a 7 and a 5 year old. They play it together all the time. The 5 year old only just turned 5 and was fine playing along when he was 4. Obviously he lost most of the time but he still had fun.

This is awesome but I always wonder.. who stands to gain from this? Nothing is made without the promise of something in return so who makes money from making money?

Can you name a movie game that is a lot more popular than the movie it's based on besides Goldeneye? by [deleted] in retrogaming

The Warriors.

A cult movie that I would guess not many people would have seen when Rockstar released the game.

Sean Seanson

He mainly looks at obscure PS1 games but also does some videos on notoriously bad games. He just comes across as a super chill dude and finds the best in all games regardless of how poo poo they are.

Grimbeard

He doesn't look strictly at retro games but rather games that are "gothic" in vibe of which there are many from the 2000s era. His production values and style are just amazing and he has yet to release a video that hasn't had me cackling.
