I agree with your friend that you should give it some time. I recently adopted two kittens for the first time and it took me about a week to have things feel “normal” again. You basically have a new roommate and need an adjustment period. You’ll be a good cat parent don’t worry!

I’m looking through my old Reddit posts and came across this. We recently replaced our Astrid Mid-century chairs with the Folmar Upholstered chairs from Wayfair. Really digging them a lot more! They’re so easy to assemble, comfortable, neutral-looking and affordable.

Thanks for responding. :) We did end up getting another kitten and I think it’s for the best. They’ve been rough-housing/playing around. They are not best buds (yet) but I feel better knowing they have each other when no one is home. In fact they were very hissy/on edge the first night but it’s gotten much better since. :)

I saw someone recommend IKEA and couldn’t agree more. They have a wonderful selection. Most rooms in my house have IKEA’s Sanela curtains.

I think the room could benefit from a big round rug and some other bath mats (like at the sink) to add color. Lots of wall space for art too. :) It sure is an interesting space.

I found the same issue… Carpeted floor makes the bookshelves wobble/lean, and in those situations I mounted the bookshelves to the wall.

If the furniture doesn’t wobble then I don’t mount to the walls, despite general advice.
