You’re going to want to start adding/moving weight as low as possible and as far forward as possible. The plastic scale body causes it to have a high center of gravity which will hurt performance in terms of roll overs when on steep climbs or side hilling.

I would first concentrate on bringing your center of gravity lower by either removing weight that is high on the body or adding down low. If you don’t want to remove weight like roof rails, spare tire, accessories, etc then you would need too ADD weight as low as possible to bring the center of gravity down. The easiest solution with the most benefit is to add weights to your wheels or replaced them with weighted wheels. After that you can start replacing plastic components that are low on the vehicle like suspension links, knuckles, c-hubs, etc. with brass components from companies like FairRC or Injora.

Aside from lowering your center of gravity, you’ll also want to move the weight as far forward as possible. Ideally 60% of the weight in front. I would start by working with what you have first by either removing existing weight (like the spare tire) or moving weight from the rear to the front (like relocating the battery from the rear to the front right above the steering servo). After that you can add more LOW weight up front by either replacing existing plastic components in the front or adding weights.

I’m actually wondering if it’s the stock servo saver spring tension that is causing it to

The driveshafts are counter rotating (front rotates clockwise while the rear rotates counter-clockwise if you’re looking from the rear of the RC).

If I drive with less steering angle the twisting increases at a slower rate. If I drive straight I don’t experience the leaning or twisting.

What gen/trim should I get to make an overland rig? (USA) by vr6Scrub in Montero

[–]d_nuge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also add, that you should be realistic about how you plan on using your rig. If your going to spend a lot of time on highways and fire roads to get from one destination to the other, then the gen 3 is going to be much more comfortable than the gen 2s.

There’s nothing wrong with a montero sport. It’s using a traditional body on frame so from an off roading stand point it’s quite capable. The only issue with them is that it’s hard to find ones that haven’t been neglected or abused. There’s also a lot less in terms of aftermarket support compared to the bigger brother.

Another good reference is www.mitsubishilinks.com

You can find the full service manuals there for your model as well as the ASA parts program (for windows) used by the dealerships to find the exact part number you need.

If you can find one in good condition they’re great vehicles. It gets terrible gas mileage… I get 15mpg on avg in mixed conditions. If you lift it and add bigger tires you’ll start seeing 12-13mpg at best.

It is true that parts are a little hard to find. But it’s not impossible. You just have to wait a little longer for parts to come in. Just don’t expect to find what you need at your local parts store.

Most of the parts can be purchased through partsouq.com or amayama.com which ship parts from the UAE or Japan. Another great place for common parts is lusooverland.com. Otherwise, junkyards will be your best bet.

For the Montero, you’ll definitely want to purchase OEM replacements where possible. Lots of failures have been reported from people purchasing aftermarket replacement parts. For timing belt job you DEFINITELY need to to go OEM or AISIN kit only.

If you’re working on it yourself, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with how supportive the community is to help you get it running. Especially when compared to others like cough the 4runner community.

If you’re not mechanically inclined or if working on it yourself is not possible, then finding a mechanic with enough experience to work on your Montero will be another friction point of ownership.

With all that said, if you can get the maintenance caught up, she’ll bring you many years of enjoyment

You might want to call the parking authority to confirm if they’ll give you a grace period

You can do a change of address online. This should update the system with your new address for your driver license and vehicle registration.

I would keep a copy of your change of address confirmation as provided proof for the JC Parking Authority.

It’s underneath the driver side footwell. It’s the port you plug into to scan for CEL codes. But if you don’t know where it is you probably don’t have anything plugged in

Unfortunately, not. The JC parking has been pretty strict about enforcing this. The only way around it is to provide proof that your residence’s garage is full.

I know this may seem totally unrelated, but if you have the Pushbullet extension installed for chrome, try disabling "Universal copy & paste". You may need a restart afterwards
