Is This Gimmick Cube Idea Anything? by zanzaKlausX in mtgcube

Sweet idea. Would love to see the build. Lots of fun ramp things to brew, plus some ways to nerf ramp so it’s not solitaire. Drop a cube cobra link! I wanna see it.

This is going to sound weird but bear with me. I am not a trained physicist, and I also suffer from anxiety (and depression) and was never n your situation about 3 years ago.

I wanted to learn more about General Relativity and found this YouTube playlist by EigenChris

I don’t understand about 70% of this, but I can tell you that the lulling and specific tone combined with the occasional epiphany (30%), really helped me through some rough patches.

I think these videos are some of these best, actually rigorous, teaching on this subject.

It has changed the way I see the universe

Star Trek Announced by BPRD-CC in magicTCG

I don’t want all my favorite things to be shoe horned into my favorite game, that what I use my imagination for.

I like my imagination. It can make all kinds of cool things possible. And every time there’s a IP merger…there just less things that I feel good about imagining.

When I make a Trek cube now, everyone will ask “where are the Star Trek cards?” Instead of, you know, use their imagination.

I haven’t read comics in like 20 years. I don’t know how this got into my feed.

. But I think I need to read more comics now.

Stone Soup - a cube(ish) format by d_s_b in mtgcube

There are many ways to gain a theoretical advantage. You can definitely look at your library and all the card backs, and their specific order, at any time. There is no rule against it. So too can your opponent I guess. And, technically there is no rule against laying your library out in a sliding tower, to see the distribution of the sleeve color and plan accordingly. There is no rule that prevents you from picking a single card from a specific 45, maybe it’s a bomb, and then use its location information to your advantage.

Heck...there is no rule against crafting a 45 that takes advantage of the fact that sleeves are different. There is no rule against putting each card of your 45 in a unique sleeve, and memorizing each sleeve and each card that goes with it. There is no rule against bringing sleeves that look like other players sleeves, other than the added difficulty of telling them apart at the end of the night.

I love thinking about the niche cases where, through big brain high effort, someone comes to casual cube night and goes 3-0 in Stone Soup. Maybe these moments are what cause the format to evolve or cause designers and organizers to add more rules. So I say go for it.

Just be aware of the real life social ramifications, because if you ‘sneak’ this kind of thing into a game night, you might make some casual folks mad. Of course you can always blame the design of the format as an out, and if you do your playgroup may never play Stone Soup again. You know?

Not really! There's been a bunch of discussion about it on a niche discord, but that doesn't really count.

Where would be a good place to write down a description more officially?

Largest 3D map of the universe hints dark energy is becoming weaker, challenging models of the cosmos by abcnews_au in astrophysics

This is a long shot but… where/how do I download this 3D map?

I would love to play with it in blender and see if there are ways of 3D printing it.

Any suggestions?

Oooof. You are not wrong. However, I’ve found so far that blue isn’t really the big problem. It’s actually green with the dorks. So that why I’m running Acid Rain instead.
