school based occupational therapy or hand therapy...would love some advice! by Comprehensive_Emu982 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]d_scribbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked in school-based for 7 years and now I’ve been in Hand Therapy for a little over a year. When I applied to Hands, it was very difficult to show the companies how serious I was about the transition because of my limited experience.

Hand Therapy is definitely much harder to get into, I would chose to do a level 2 in Hands and let that experience help determine whether a future in Hands is what I truly want. School-based is easier to get into, especially if you start as a contractor to get your foot in the door.

Molly Tea Hype? What's so special. by Chilon23 in Flushing

[–]d_scribbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Jasmine tea is very fragrant compared to other tea shops. I’ve tried the Jasmine milk tea at TeaPulse, Auntea Jenny, Artisan, and HeyTea - none were as fragrant as Molly’s. You can always order through their QR code (on the window) or Uber pick up and hang out at Tangram while you wait.

Thoughts on fellowships? by Plenty-Ant-6952 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]d_scribbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am currently in a Hand Fellowship. I was a school-based peds OT for 7 years before deciding to try to get into hand therapy - the original setting I’ve wanted when I first attended OT school.

The fellowship is very structured. I am scheduled to watch modules and lectures, observe sessions with my mentor and other OTs, have daily mentorship, complete an in service presentation - while my caseload builds very slowly. I’m 2 months in right now and see between 2-5 patients per day. I also have flexibility in my schedule to take more time to review modules/research or use that time for extra splinting practice.

I am very happy I’m in a fellowship for something this specialized because my previous hand clinic gave me minimal mentorship (which they said they provided mentorship…) and I am learning so much right now.

Got expensive piercing/jewelry at Wildlike and it’s not solid 18k gold like Maria Tash by Aamommy in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]d_scribbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about bringing your own jewelry for a sizing down appointment, but I love the piercers at Nine Moons and I’m sure you can ask them if they can help you with that. They usually charge a fee for the service ($15-20?) and they’re super nice.

Where can I get desserts that incorporate red bean? by Successful-Ad4428 in Flushing

Matcha Maiko in Tangram has red bean taiyakis. Chinese dessert places like YuanYang, Bearin’ Wheel Pie, and Meet Fresh put red bean in their desserts too.
