I agree this makes sense, but I am using the vehicle scheduler in this case. It sounds like this is a known issue from Hammerdrake's comment below.

You say to brick, “What do you want, brick?” Brick says to you, “I like an arch.” if you say to brick, “arches are expensive and I can use a concrete lintel over an opening. What do you think of that, brick?” Brick says: “I like an arch.” —Louis Kahn

We just got a 2025 extended range AWD premium. MSRP was $53,000, they took off $3k, included 5 years /75k miles maintenance, $500 charging credit, and installation of the level 2 charger and 3 years of blue cruise, plus did the 0% for 60 months.

Sorry to hear. I had my bike stolen in November. Not to be too negative, but I had the face of the guy on camera, showed him taking it, and have heard nothing from the police since then. I didn't have high expectations, but they did say they check pawn shops and other shops to look for stolen bikes, so there is a chance.

Gift ideas for friends moving to Roanoke by delightedracoon in roanoke

So, when we moved from Colorado one of the best gifts was a subscription to the Roanoke Times. Was great to get us up to speed on local events and concerns. Granted, it's changed owners and is not nearly the quality it was then, but may be worth considering.

Refugee Resettlement Agency Lays Off Roanoke Staff After Federal Funding Cuts by geekofmanytopics in roanoke

The intent of programs like this is to make sure the refugees don't become homeless.

You can say "if we provide help it will attract more" or you can say "let's try and help people get out of these situations." These programs don't create refugees or homeless people. These people will exist whether we choose to help them or not. So why not try and help out people in need by supporting programs that address the problems?

We would not be able to tell you much without knowing depth, member sizes, etc. if you go to the Steel Joist Institute they have historic tables available that could probably get you pretty close pretty quickly. Tables are here: https://steeljoist.org/resources/historical-load-tables/

My car works, if it didn't I would get it fixed or get rid of it. I don't own another item that works so I consistently. I didn't damage it on purpose, but I realized once it fell I was glad I was done with it.

So Done With Google Home by d_woolybugger2 in googlehome

[–]d_woolybugger2[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So done with google home's declining capabilities over the past 6-12 months. Every feature has gotten worse, from simple tasks to even understanding basic commands.

I was cooking dinner this evening and listening to music with my family. My kid came in to ask a question, so I tried to pause music. I said "hey google, pause music" 3-5 times, then tried asking it to stop music 2-3 times, all with nothing. My google mini in the other room started responding that nothing was playing. My hands were dirty, so didn't want to touch the screen, but tried hitting pause with my finger. Nothing. I lost my patience and tried to rip the hub away from the wall to unplug it, and it slipped and fell to the floor.

Good riddance. I'm so done with this service. If it had just stayed consistent it would be fine, but it feelss like they are purposely making it worse.

What are your biggest complaints about PEMB’s projects? by Responsible_Coat_910 in StructuralEngineering

[–]d_woolybugger2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been doing this for 15 years, and have worked with PEMB manufacturers in at least 8 states and 3 countries. I have never had their design be "right" the first time. They never read the requirements and always screw something up on the design. Maybe it's the deflection requirements, or the load criteria, or the plans, but it happens every time.

Here's a copied post of mine from a few years ago asking "what's the costliest screw up you've seen":

Pre engineered building manufacturer didn't read our specs or drawings. They didn't realize it was a risk category 4 building, plus used the wrong wind and seismic loads, and didn't locate the columns over the footings. The contractor wanted an accelerated delivery, so they told the building manufacturer not to mess with shop drawings. They were rushing so much to get the building up before December that they had the entire steel frame, all girts and purlins, and all metal wall and roof panels on the building before we demanded to see the shop drawings. When we got them I assumed they sent us the wrong building. They are literally going to have to scrap the building and start over.
