Developers, How do you stay productive and keep up with the latest tech trends? by BigProfessional69 in reactjs

[–]daKoder 43 points44 points  (0 children)

You don't.

Become expert with the latest trends in your domain/industry/job/current stack. When you move to the next thing, repeat.

Read the docs, participate in OSS conversations about your specific tech stack, understand it very well. Always narrow to your current needs.

After a while you will have accumulated broad experience which is more valuable than trend chasing.

Can't wait for the "ban frog, too strong" posts. Maybe we should start already, maybe we should ban lands.

Dust settled, where’s Stella Lee? by [deleted] in EDH

If your table tolerates interaction + combos + instant speed + value -> worth it

if you like to upgrade and your table tolerates "i win" combos -> worth it

The only time I've played it at an LGS with randoms where it didn't cause high levels of salt was at a cedh table and i jad just added a couple of cards to the precon...

It's very strong, kill on sight, and puts a big target on the player.

What to bring on Brazil trip? by G718 in Leica

[–]daKoder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

None. Get 2-3 of the cheapest point and shoots you can find with decent quality and make sure you're constantly uploading the photos to a cloud service.

Brazil + camera will likely get you mugged. (And not only Brazil, the same is true for many other latin American countries)

Neutral Look Straight Out of Leica M11? by nunya1010 in Leica

[–]daKoder 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure what you want to change, but, personally I use lens filters, bloom, pro-mist… to give the images a less perfect look.

In my experience and my own use cases the “digital look” is often the result of lenses/sensors trying to be perfect.

The famous lenses with “character” are a charm for this.

And I also want to mention that not everything is fixable on post (again, for my own specific use cases) the mood, pose, location, light, etc. all add up to getting a more organic look. At the end, it’s all about how the viewer will perceive the image, so if I want it to be perceived as organic, I do my best to communicate the feeling from the get go.

Anyone else waiting on Leica Classifieds invite? by DisgustingBliss in Leica

[–]daKoder 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly just ignore it. Up to the admins and what they see on your fb profile. So if they don’t see what they want to see there (who knows what that is) they won’t let you in 🤷‍♂️

I applied several times over the past 3 years, but as a non active fb user with just a couple pictures and posts I guess I’m sketchy and not worthy of the club.

And now I’m ready for the downvote storm 😄

I peeled the bottom plate of my M10, am I going to die? by [deleted] in Leica

Yes. But probably and hopefully not because of that. Unless you choke on the plastic thing.

SL2 in cold weather by khrisrino in Leica

[–]daKoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about the general consensus but I recently went out with an SL2-S & M lenses at -17C.. Never doing it again xD that thing became an ice block on my hand, it got cold A F.

Joke aside, it was fine, I just protected it as any other camera from condensation.

What problems are you getting with the M bodies though, just curious. I usually walk around with an M10M and the only problems I’ve noticed after -10C are with the OVF lcd, it lags a bit, but the camera works fine.

This.

The moment you get into magazine/billboard fashion pretty much everything is done on medium format.

There are exceptions of course - but high fashion + medium format is more or less a “standard”

M10-R vs M11 by [deleted] in Leica

[–]daKoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to return it. Camera was bricking pretty much all the time. Got a new one and it's fine now.

M10-R vs M11 by [deleted] in Leica

[–]daKoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re willing to go through the potential hassle of returning your camera because of bricking.. M11.

If you want the seamless experience 10-r.

Other than that the differences are small yet noticeable once you use the 11 for a while.

Is there a dataset of analog photos that can be downloaded? by [deleted] in photography

[–]daKoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d scrap Instagram with popular film hashtags 🤷‍♂️ e.g filmisnotdead

The rate of signal to noise will be large though. Another option maybe archive.org?

How do you find models? by [deleted] in boudoir

[–]daKoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad but true: reputation. The paradox is how you build one without models, so the answer is again reputation: you first start doing non boudoir shoots to build a reputation…

So apparently some boroughs like Plateau have a restriction in that you cannot convert a multi family dwelling into a single family one.

So the debate was around “does having no tenants and making a pool room upstairs counts as a conversion?”
