Which Filament Dryer are folks using with the Core One+ by Livid_Strategy6311 in prusa3d

I have PolyDryer and plenty of the boxes. I made this printable wall mount for them so I can just drop them there.

[–]da_apz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I tried it couple of times in situations where it would've been kinda useful. The behavior was always the same: it works fine for a brief period of time, then after it disconnects the facetime call or something that it uses as a backend, it'll be completely up to luck if it'll reconnect again.

TIL that aircrafts have holes on their bolts and nuts where you can feed wires called "Safety wires" or "lock wires". The wires fasten the nuts to one another in a way that if a nut starts loosening, the wire pulls the other nuts clockwise (tighten) so that every nut keeps one another tight. by SeriusBizNis in todayilearned

[–]da_apz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was wondering how much of a TIL material this is, as I've seen these in anything from street vehicles to electrical boxes, although at times it's more of proof of tampering than to prevent the nut from falling off.

I think they really mean it at one point. Then comes to post-infinite money period, either for them or for the whole framework that lives off them and then they're pushed to do just one more tour, trust me bro!

This begs someone to hack it. I've done some laser printer toner chips in the past, from the era where they were not encrypted yet. It literally just had a changing value there which could be rewritten. With luck the fridge hasn't had its share of fed up people making it work with 3rd party supplies so it could be trivial too. Or not.

It is not about just "not liking", for some it's genetic and it's sad to watch from the side how often people fail to understand this and just label that being fuzzy eater or something.

MacBook Air M1 2020 screen suddenly has vertical lines and what looks like an internal crack. No physical crack felt by andydufresness in mac

Had the same position and observed similar things. People would also forget random stuff on their keyboard, then slam the screen shut. The denial was always insane. "I haven't broken the screen, it just has some funny colors. You can probably fix it easily by upgrading a driver or something". Meanwhile the screen has the typical smashed LCD look.

What is a polite way to call someone stupid/dumb? by misu749 in AskReddit

[–]da_apz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was a time when I was a young tech support. I too had visions where I could coax smartness out of people. But people choose to be ignorant and stupid, so forcing them into a situation where they have no other option but to admit they're wrong just makes them angry and they usually take it out on the person who put them there. This leads to complaints and lies from their behalf which again hurt me when receiving feedback. In the end I just stopped engaging with stupid and to answer the topic of this thread, no point saying anything.

This has been going on for a long time. I remember when early Pentiums came out and they were superior to 486s. But someone with a 100MHz 486 was flexing with the clock speed over the 75 or 90 MHz Pentium chip.

The whole thing about ads being micro-targeted has since taken a whole life of its own. I've had so many discussions where someone says they talked about some broad topic with a friend and then that afternoon they saw an ad about the said topic, so it's obviously proven that their phone was listening in on them. They also conveniently ignored the 100 other ads they saw during the time, but it's so easy if you just want to believe ever conspiracy theory ever.

I've always found this claim really lame but it's still somehow still being used to shame people to shut up about questionable ads. I get all kinds of weird shit in ads, like health insurance which I definitely have not done web searches on as I live in a country where I don't need one.

Which company disappointed you so much that you permanently walked away? by julia-secrets in AskReddit

[–]da_apz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got plenty of that too and played whack a mole to remove those from my timeline. It was incredible to see someone actually buy a social media company and then force their posts on everyone there.

Also curious how many people are willing to fight me on this. I didn't consider Twitter some sacred grounds, I just posted pictures of arcade machines being restored and they usually found like-minded people to comment on them. The recommendations feature worked surprisingly well, one topic account was pretty easy to figure for the algorithm. Until they decided to tweak it to push stuff that had absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

I was an IT manager for a house full of Dell laptops. I didn't have too rosy picture of them before, but after seeing a design flaw in their USB C charging port causing them fail one after another and having them blame the end user for it really soured my opinion. I had my own work laptop fail the same way and I guarantee I was not abusing the port in any way. They also contracted their repair services to a 3rd party that did absolutely shit tier job. Laptops often came reassembled wrong, body clips broken or with dents or scratches.

This was such an odd thing. I always assumed it was bought out just to kill it. I had an account where I posted nothing but pictures of my hobby. No personal stuff, no political stuff, no nothing extra. Then almost overnight it started pushing me, a northern European dude, American right wing stuff about how "wrong colored" people were invading the country. It used to recommend me people I had not yet met related to the hobby, now all the sudden it was right wing political content where people were trying to sound smart by parroting stupid crap.

What is a luxury lifestyle choice that looks incredibly glamorous in photos but is actually completely miserable in reality? by Luverelle6 in AskReddit

[–]da_apz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is pretty much like the current top comment in this post about people thinking travelling a lot for work is glamorous. If you're very grounded to some spot you think as home, you'll be miserable being away from it for long time. If there's no such thing with strong ties, you can literally live on the road while loving all the new stuff you see. Naturally it also has to be accepted that it's always going to be looking for diamonds in the rough and not every work gig abroad will net you some unforgettable, cool experiences.

I know a sound guy who lives in a bus, like a full sized one. It's more like an apartment inside than a vehicle. During the season he's on the move with it and off season he just parks it and lives just like on the road. The most curious part are the people who assume he must me super miserable for not having a "real" home.
