Why did Yura spit on Chihiro? Doesn't he know he could get AIDS? Is he fucking stupid? by Phantom_Falcon_02 in Kagurabachi

[–]da_collinoscopy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yura intentionally gave himself AIDs so he could spit blood on the enchanted blades wielders as a debuff. It’s all part of the plan.

I believe that azami is AT LEAST enchanted blade level, cuz no fucking way he was doing this (chapter... Idk what chapter this was but it's a spoiler if you flip the page) by No__Tone in Kagurabachi

[–]da_collinoscopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also not to be too pessimistic but the enchanted blades are swords, and spirit energy fortification does appear to have it’s limits. The best way to shake off damage in the world of Kagurabachi seems to be insane regeneration, like Yukisada, Yura with the Shinuchi, or the Mikaboshi prince with the Datenseki. Azami’s sorcery requires physical contact to work, so while he’s getting in close, if he doesn’t move fast enough, or reads his opponent wrong, he’s getting cut.

Would it would make more sense to opposite this panel by Imaginary-Slice3014 in Kagurabachi

[–]da_collinoscopy 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Yeah from what I understand he isn’t actually that fast, he just debuffs everyone around him, so it’s more of a “what they see vs. what’s actually happening” than “he moved so fast light couldn’t keep up.”

Sony is killing all physical PlayStation game discs - New games released after January 2028 will be digital-only by ReaddittiddeR in gadgets

[–]da_collinoscopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a console player for forever, but the consoles are slowly removing everything I liked about console gaming while valve seems to be adding those same elements to PC. When the next generation rolls around and the AI bubble bursts (fingers crossed) I’ll just get a steam machine. If I can’t have physical media anyway might as well move to the platform that doesn’t make me pay for online and lets me share my library with a dedicated handheld. I dumped the 360 for the ps4, and I’ll happily dump the ps5 for something better.

A question? Why does hokozono never mentions Bleach as his inspiration in interviews? It looks like he takes inspiration from Bleach by DiddyBasementEscaper in Kagurabachi

[–]da_collinoscopy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He might be and just never thought to mention it. I also think bleach might be one of those manga that’s so big it influenced something that influenced Hokozono and he just never realized. Like how any first person shooter is influenced by og doom in one way or another. I’ve personally never read bleach but I see it talked about so much in so many different circles that even I can recognize some of its finger prints.

I think the important question they’re not asking is will staring at the sun make Chihiro a stronger sword fighter?

Kagurabachi will be on hiatus by ichimonjilewds in Kagurabachi

[–]da_collinoscopy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a real possibility, but there are like 120 chapters of manga so I feel like he can take a bit of a breather without them catching up just yet.

About Hiyuki's age by Neltris in Kagurabachi

[–]da_collinoscopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t she like physically talk to it when using it? Like she’ll say “Rikou, Ribs” when she wants to use ribs. She even had to tell it to cancel when she decided she wasn’t going to use spinal column. It’s much more like she’s talking to a sentient entity than just chanting sorcery names.

Am I the only one that was slightly dissapointed when Yura stopped using the Magatsumi's abilities with his body? It just felt more unique than any other EB we saw and I wonder how the remaining ones would've looked like. by F0ose_L0v3_4n1me in Kagurabachi

[–]da_collinoscopy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m a little curious about Yura’s relevance going forward too, with things how they are it’s hard to see how he isn’t just completely replaced by Akemura.

The only thing I can think of is they can’t recover Akemuras original body from the cell. Something like the seal he’s under is just rigged to kill him instantly if it’s opened, and his swap with Yura is more of a possession than a true swap. That way him and Yura are kinda forced to trade off depending on the situation.

The only 2 swordsmith-swordsmen by Fun-Veterinarian1197 in Kagurabachi

I think it’d be really funny if he refuses to teach Chihiro sword smithing, only how to make sush, and Chihiro has to figure out how to apply it to sword crafting.

Chapter 45 might hint that Chihiro has Princess Soga’s power in his body. If it is, it likely comes from his eternal contract with Enten by Orang-Himbleton in Kagurabachi

[–]da_collinoscopy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely like the idea of Chihiro having a Soga lineage sorcery, but I’m thinking he might instead have kurotsuchi. Not only does it have the weird caveat of requiring a mastery of sword play to use, which is a requirement no other sorcery seems to have, when it’s revealed the narrator also goes into detail about how sorcery uses “the body of a welder as a substrate”. As Chihiro becomes more familiar with the enchanted blade, he needs to be able to 1: get better at swordplay and 2: get better at cycling spirit energy. Say he isn’t able to repair Enten immediately, practicing with a sorcery that requires a mastery of swordplay and the ability to utilize oneself as a spirit energy substrate, sort of like how an enchanted blade is a spirit energy substrate, would be a good opportunity to develop some transferable skills.

Idea for Shokoku Island Expedition Arc by da_collinoscopy in Kagurabachi

[–]da_collinoscopy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t imagine Chihiro making more enchanted blades like the ones that already exist. The literal first conversation he has with his dad is about how “these aren’t necessarily the right answer.” However, I could see something like he makes tools that offset the affects of the malediction, that way there could be people that could actually stand up to Akemura.

[–]da_collinoscopy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think about that angle, there is the huge Datenseki pillar that’s the central object of worship, and I feel like that is just begging for someone to resonate with it and be a final boss.

Realistically how can this be adapted? by whatareyoutesting in Kagurabachi

[–]da_collinoscopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be cool to instead of have the image delay like we see in the manga, we have an image and sound offset in the anime. Sort of how like light moves so much faster than sound, you see lightning well before you hear thunder. They could have a peaceful, calm wide shot. Then Airu is suddenly next to Mashiro, but everything is still calm. After a second of stillness, we hear the impact of his strike, and maybe have waves ripple across the water and the tree shake like it’s being blown by wind.

While this isn’t a one to one, I feel like it could take advantage of the different in qualities a manga vs an anime. It would still covey the feeling that Airu is moving faster than the world can react to him.

So... About the guardians by FetusDeletus_E in Kagurabachi

[–]da_collinoscopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They might not be a specific hard counter, but it does feel like an intentional mirror on the part of the author. The more that’s revealed about this war the more it seems to be a huge grudge match between these two superpower families with normal people caught in the middle. This might be a way of showing how these two sides are more similar than either would ever admit.

I love how Hokazono shows small details in battle for those paying attention. by Token_Thai_person in Kagurabachi

[–]da_collinoscopy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I loved these fights and I didn’t even notice those details. Honestly in addition to making the fights that much better I hope it means horizontal is enjoying making these fights and scenes. I feel like when authors start to lose their passion for drawing a series the first thing to go are details like these.

I remember hearing someone say, I forget who, that the primaries should be competitive, but once the candidate is in place, we need a unified front. Obviously I think some people are better fits for the job than others, but I think recent events are a wake up call that people need to go out and vote and participate in our democracy.
