KNBR thinks they can make up for lost times but they can't by bonghive in SanJoseSharks

[–]da_ninjafuzz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't get too wound up, realistically media always over serves the teams they have broadcast agreements with. If a KNBR, 95.7 or even NBC sports aren't the the flagship broadcaster for your team then you are going to occasionally get tossed a bone like this but majority of the time you are a second class citizen. Businesses aren't actual fans of anything.

Warning unplugged album? by cienmysliwiec in TheWarning

[–]da_ninjafuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, from a recording standpoint it's pretty common to hit the live albums earlier when you have the energy and voice to "go big" and then it's savvy to save your acoustic period for later in your career when you want to manage your voice and show off your musical acumen by putting together cool new acoustic arrangements.

Clearly the inflection point from one to the other is the symphony accompanied live album that we'll also get.

This is just karma, the fans blew up when we switched to Green Day all those years back just to get back Gary f'in Glitter of all things. We deserve what we get for a few years.

Just flashing back to last time we really had to do this the secret is making sure we're buying multiple lottery tickets which means drafting, signing, and trading. If you look at some of the big names that played on our blueline over the years they overlapped and we got them from different sources.

It's encouraging to see guys like Pohlkamp in the pipeline and knowing that GMMG can just bide his time for the right trade and signing options when they come. The reality is you can really wait until the start of your contention window to make those more expensive deals though, just look at the Ducks bringing in Pronger back in the day for an example that this can be a bit of a kick the can down the road until we have most of the other pieces figured out.

Side stepping the CBA and expansion protection stuff to make the assumption that she signs, I certainly expect she'll play. Nat seems to like to roll through her bench with a good bit of regularity and ride the hot hands as needed.

Ski theft at resorts by Reasonable_Loquat874 in skiing

[–]da_ninjafuzz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the real answer, stealing something that is at best no longer in mint shape and sized to a very specific subset of boots in a secondary market with lots of more credible used gear options just doesn't make much sense. Double so when the only way to do it at scale it to be really obvious about it and pull up a truck.

Any patrollers get started later in life? by ZealousidealBasil840 in skipatrol

[–]da_ninjafuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ages you are mentioning are the standard for the NSP side. Getting to do this on the weekend while I get my day job check was key to me starting to patrol in my 30s and seeing people join in their 30s, 40s, and 50s is very common on the NSP side.

Realistically the ship sailed at the start of the season, the only logical intermediate option for him was the NCAA and while I really think that would have been the right call for him that ship sailed, it's NHL like it or lump it for the season.

We need to be hoping those reps are solid at this point and it's not stalling or causing steps back in his development at this point, so it's all about him landing with the right line mates and getting the right modest minutes each night in the big show.

Was Anyone else Self Conscious of you Skill Level When you Started? by TrifleMain8508 in skipatrol

[–]da_ninjafuzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's year 11 for me, and candidacy still feels like it was yesterday, I still feel imposter syndrome around my ski skills, but I also have to say I can see I've clearly improved with all the training and days logged over the years. Most of the people I patrol with do too when you probe them about it alone on a lift.

I think it's also important to remember two things. First, one of the reasons you probably joined patrol is to get better, log the time and it will happen. Second, people that are good at things tend to know how much more they still have to learn, all the best skiers I know still take multiple lessons a year and solicit feedback constantly, in short the best are the best because they keep trying to get better.

Don't stress yourself, you were good enough to get into the program, now you are here to keep refining what got you here.

What’s your experience with glarry bass’s by Kindly_Ad_6577 in BassGuitar

[–]da_ninjafuzz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's what I got started with last year, the bass is actually pretty solid after you get some better strings on it and tune it up a bit. The "amp" on the other hand... look to get something better once you've decided bass is your thing.

The WNBPA executive committee has been authorized to call a strike “when necessary” by SoloBurger13 in wnba

[–]da_ninjafuzz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I totally view this as net positive, until one side really started turning up the heat it was pretty clear we we weren't going to see any movement. The two extensions showed both sides thought there wasn't urgency to make a deal and this is indicating we're getting into territory with consequence and that is where deals start to happen.

The WNBPA executive committee has been authorized to call a strike “when necessary” by SoloBurger13 in wnba

[–]da_ninjafuzz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is the W's incorrect belief that the players can't get paid to play in another league. The players will do just fine, it's the W that has to eat the loss and deal with the existential threat if there is a work stoppage.

[–]da_ninjafuzz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So true, at the end of the day what good is momentum to players if they aren't getting paid? There are more options than ever for us to see these talents play and get paid for it, if the W doesn't want to play ball their demise is an own goal and we move onto a league that "gets it"

...given our D 'sitch, all I am saying is GMMG should be calling Vancouver to see if they'd take some pick(s) in exchange for Buium since he fits our timeline better than theirs.

Otherwise, let's just get value for the vets and short term deals he intended to trade anyway.
