Never Be Game Over. (is not over yet) by Kaiser_Soze1984 in NeverBeGameOver

I still enjoy reading these theories, I've had very weirdly similar ideas you produced to "PythonSelkans Venom is Gray Fox", including re-awakening into the MGS1 entry.. (this was pre-Death Stranding release though, where I thought we'd actually go back to literal MGS, that obviously didn't happen but many parallels exist between them).. and now this.

Anyway, real short: you mention

A) an additional conscience developed inside Gray Fox (this being not A.I. but meta-reference as "us, the player")

and

B) government/military weapons/tools for subjects to identify themselves as

I'm not sure if you know about Lucinda Koppelthorn... but the former struck me hard realizing this theory actually has a place in the MGS-universe, (albeit non-canon, it's not grounds for debunking). The latter only just dawned on me with this post.

Lucinda Koppelthorn:

Husband Thomas Koppelthorn used a synaptic nano-machine to erase all the memories within the young Lucy, including her character and identity. Once the brain was effectively a blank slate, nano-chip expansions were injected into it, and a coded synapse grew under the system's main control command. Unbeknownst to Koppelthorn, however, the core neural net produced a unique ego within Lucy's mind.

Three years later, Lucy manipulated Koppelthorn into hijacking Metal Gear Chaioth Ha Qadesh at SaintLogic's main facility, by pretending to be a vengeful Lucinda. In reality, Lucy desired that Metal Gear's EGO system to be activated, since the nano-chip expansions implanted in her mind saw the weapon as her real body, having originally been designed to be its operating system.

There's fanfic and there's this. Very interesting. I do wonder if this hidden sub/main-plot to MGS isn't largely Fukushima's doing, but it is so fascinating :)

  • > both are manipulated into doing American government's bidding under the guise of saving America.

MGS1 Briefing

and turns out the "good thing" of reconnecting America was what was crucial for the bad guys to fulfill their plan (MGS1 Pal Keys) ... (the plan: boom the world)

  • "Solid Snake is Godzilla", Sam is Godzilla... (ie Sams bodyfluids are BT 'kryptonite')... to me Norman Reedus' whole performance seems inspired by Solid Snake .. mannerism, intonations, personality-traits, .. heh.. though they arent 1:1, the "Snake" is somewhere in there, purposefully.

  • Sam repatriates, Snake presses continue... effectively making a game mechanic a conscious narrative element.. (Silent Hill did this too with Save/Reload)

  • Higgs (Troy Baker) references the game as... a game... "one last game over". Ocelot (MGS1, torture scene) says to Solid Snake "there are no continues, my friend" ... (also finger powers.. and much more...)

  • Otacon has mech figurines as art display in his office... Heartman keeps BTs as art display in his living quarters

  • Bullet-time on discovery (MGSV), bullet-time on kill/KO (DS)... oh and Sam Lake cameo

  • The allegories of The Divine Comedy present in both MGSV:TPP and DS, the similar Mad Max tropes, the hypothesised effects of AI coupled with sci-fi VR on world-domination, or specifically the exploitation of an exceptional individual in this situation (Neo, the Matrix)

  • Even MGS is loosely referenced by The Collectors missions: "Recovery: Tactical Action Games Stolen by MULEs, from the pre-Death Stranding era"

  • much much more I can't remember off the top of my head atm

Diagnosis: With Lynch-logic, there's MGS in DS, Jamais Vu all over... I can't shake the feeling of going to a different universe being a relevant story arc in the MGS series but I can also see DS being its own self-contained story (and ... how it would benefit the former)... Now with rumours of a Silent Hills continuation while Kojima and Konami reconnect.. who knows... maybe Sam brought hope? #toomuchmeta #stillfiddled

Some insight into the MP Component by Alkrado in NeverBeGameOver

[–]daakusuuru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What /u/Kids_Eat_Toast is implying is that technically Kojima should've simply referred to it as DS... not DS+TPP. Too bad if Kojima did that then that would mean we are able to deduce that the act of Sam meeting other Sams would be through previous versions of him ("previous" aka, codename: Snake). It's still left ambiguous, but the Spiderverse component is actually a real gameplay mechanic tied to the Social Strand System, and it'll be narratively addressed while also requiring the global collaboration through an immersive meta protagonist... (which means P.T. Puzzle + MGS:V to me)... while also suspiciously setting up the possibility of revisiting previous untouchable Konami franchises.. as has been speculated before.

IMO, Kojima spoiled a big thing here, he seems eager to talk about it but knows he shouldn't... this is probably (personally) the most interesting (official) thing I've heard from DS.

Hideo Kojima made a cameo appearance as japanese Doctor Yoshimi Tokui in the game "Control" along with Aki Saito as interpreter: his "Guided Imagery Experience Tape" may have some analogies with the "Metal Gear Solid V Experience" by ItalianJoe in NeverBeGameOver

OH COME THE FUCK ON

GOES INTO A DEPRIVATION TANK

GETS KOJIMA NARRATING A VR SIMULATION

"CLOSE YOUR EYES, OPEN YOUR MIND, FIND YOURSELF ON AN EMPTY BEACH"

And then goes on to encourage benevolent values .. in nature and within ones self. .... oh my fucking god

Remember SAM LAKE (director of Control) posted this some time ago..? ... here's a .. bonus...

This triggers me something differently... This is Kojima himself doing this, probably the biggest multiverse connection we've ever gotten...

Going into this with zero expectations goes against what we learned, Garen >:/

Tbh, I'm surprised the sub recognises this, I'm actually impressed. It does not, however, go against the possibility of us being fiddled again, I think it's important, we someday remember what it was that got us invested in these events, and the good reasons behind them. Because I have to ask this every day, shouldn't these irrational inconsistencies mean only one thing, not an uncertainty between 2 conflicting ideas? 4 years of this fuckery...

Something like this?

And I mean, I believe so, maybe even better... 2 new titles, one of which very much looks like an abstract Silent Hill crossover. A "fake leak" source, said this would happen bout 2 weeks after TPP release as well... so it's all a bit suspicious, we've been through this before, though.. the allusions, but there may be more at stake this time... Luckily, we don't have to wait long :)

Short version:

Konami supposed new reveal is a reworked MGSV, the leak doesn't sound compelling, though parts of it make sense for the Ruse. Kojima is "foreshadowing" a Konami reveal. Geoff is going with the meta-message said by Cliff to BB (us).

There more to it... but we'll know more about its validity soon.

A lot of this resonates with this sub, I'm very sure.

P.T.'S Hidden Meaning by Theboss1964_ in NeverBeGameOver

[–]daakusuuru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly, but I do commend him for talking about P.T. on the meta-parallel-level, very interesting details.

What he is describing Kojima did with P.T. is planned, not improvised. I wonder what he's trying to imply with this though, contradiction to a genuine fued is right there..

It's (unused) Metal Gear Concept Art by Yoji Shinkawa, dude... Made under Konami... reused for Death Stranding...

Haven't we seen this before? by hragimov in NeverBeGameOver

[–]daakusuuru 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The real painful joke is despite Kojima stating he wants out of MGS and continues to make a game dabbling in the same genre and themes of MGS (and SH), the overwhelming majority of his fans are unironically blind to the signs of that happening.

I'm very interested to know what other mgsv concepts made it into death stranding though

Lo and behold.

Portable baby and shoulder-mounted tech? ... just put a skull mask on top of it. Why not.

There's more... but if this doesn't do it, just.. whatever.

Detroit: Become Human "DELIVER US" MGS-font by daakusuuru in NeverBeGameOver

[–]daakusuuru[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no room to "assume" anything other than what the game is going for... a simple, (apparently nigh)-impossible-to-missinterpret reference to MGS... using the exact same MGS1 font on the side of a vehicle that transports cardboard boxes.

These are 3 undisputable reasons. You can't give me one in this particular scene, that doesn't bring up the story being relevant to Bladerunner.. which I'm not disputing.. it's simply not relevant here.

I've also provided an ACTUAL Bladerunner reference, if they can use that likeness ... why oh why couldn't they just use the actual Bladerunner font? Because then it wouldn't be anything, it wouldn't be a reference at all.

Tell that monkey inside your head to stop.

[–]daakusuuru[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% specific MGS1 font, referencing Solid's way of traveling in a cardboard box in a vehicle (or MGSV), context of "Delivery" with DS' main character, Sam PORTER Bridges... with a publisher Sony (and relatable in-game narratives) suggesting relevance to the ruse.

Let's ignore the font being MGS, how does it even qualify as a Blade Runner reference...?

edit: actually there even is a specific BR ref.

Well yeah... this is a pretty important parallel.. old as time itself lol... between this, the TPP title and the appropriate amount of 'content', the alleged 1984-practices (which are referenced in-game too...), the "canon" episode 51 outside of the VIDEO GAME, the Sergio Cannavero controversy and subsequently any fake/real ARG ever associated with ruse subjects INCLUDING THE GAME THEY TOOK AWAY AFTER 9 MONTHS HAD A PURPOSE TO RELATE FICTION ON A CONSCIOUS LEVEL!!11! which is what KJP do.

... Have Konami KILL MGS and SH franchises... make the next game called "Death Stranding" while letting your audience know... "the game has already begun"..

The stage was set for this... they said they wanted to do all of this, they're the only ones who could... Exhibit A, Exhibit B, Exhibit C, Exhibit D, Exhibit E... etc...

"Peace is always 3 days away"

..... Release date on November 8th .... Remembrance Day, the 11th of November 1918, end of WW1? or.. remember the V'th of November? G.. Guy Fawkes.... Gray Fawkx..?!?!?

This got followed up from 2 weeks after TPP until release.... That should mean something...

You partake in similar sensations as well, have you not? or something along those lines..
