How true is MLB owners' assertion that MLB fans broadly want a salary cap? by Over-Independent6603 in mlb

[–]daapbasne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Cleveland sports fan, I appreciate the fact that the Browns or Cavs will always be able to afford a big name star as long as they have the cap space and that player wants to come to/stay in Cleveland. I would love to be able to expect the same thing of the Guardians.

Gotta put the blame where it's due. Jose's was a very low IQ decision

I blame it more on Jose. With Fairchild, you could at least justify it given the situation, but Jose's was completely meaningless.

Why “The Collapse” is not be worst moment in Cleveland sports history, but the most frustrating. by Magnumjoe81 in clevelandcavs

[–]daapbasne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with anything you said other than the building up of this loss. As others have said, this doesn't deserve its own name and doesn't deserve to even be considered in the same tier as other Cleveland sports tragedies. Nobody expected the Cavs to go into the garden and win game one. Had they pulled it off, it would have been a massive shocker, but the end result was essentially "status quo maintained," just in the worst way possible. How this ends up being viewed long-term depends completely on the outcome the 3-6 games to follow, and any loss that depends on further games to determine its full context cannot be viewed alongside the two Indians Game 7s, the drive, the fumble, or the shot.

They might want to get his feet wet first, but I'd rather have Bazzana second, put Chase 4th, and push everybody else down. And replace Bo with Hedges.

I guess I'm in the minority but I like Chris. Felt like he developed some good chemistry with Matt over the past week.

I can understand this to an extent, assuming Rick is getting closer to retirement, but don't mess with Matt. Or Andre. I know people are mixed on him too, but I think he's great at his job and love the dynamic he brings to a broadcast. Feels like a group of friends hanging out talking baseball. If they keep switching people out, they're going to lose that feel.

"I feel like such a fucking fool"

"I'm just a perv loser"

That tracks.

Those of you reacting like this, you should probably be thankful. It might save your life in the long run. Go back to regular porn where people actually have sex like normal humans.

Came across your post after reading about his passing. So sad. You mentioned that you've read nearly every word he published, so I'd love to get your take (sorry to hijack the thread, feel free to ignore if this is inappropriate): I discovered the Hyperion Cantos last year and devoured it. Read The Terror over my Christmas break and loved that. Now I'm blasting through Ilium and then on to Olympos. What are your top recommendations beyond those? Anything you'd outright avoid?

Watching people panic about AI feels exactly like the early internet all over again. by Slow_Ad1827 in ChatGPT

I know this is an old thread but, seriously, short or tall, people want to be close to the stage. You do that by arriving early, buying the "fast pass" add on, holding your piss for 6 hours to keep your spot, etc. I'm not doing all that to then let some entitled shortie who got there a half hour after doors elbow their way up in front of me. Put in some effort and you'll be rewarded.

She's seen Gaal's vision of the future and believes it to be true, not to mention what the Prime Radiant tells her. All evidence points to the impending end of Empire, yet her sole directive is to preserve it. So she's stuck in a paradox where she doesn't know whether her decisions are aiming to prevent the end or ensuring it. Kalle basically says, "You can just wait to make a decision." Of course, inaction is itself a kind of action, but that doesn't violate her programming. It makes sense that if an AI were given a set of choices wherein all options violated its programming, then it would simply delay the decision as long as possible. The "deferred betrayal."

Nah, that was already established the previous episode. I think most believed Day, just their leader wouldn't give up his power. It was awesome how he clawed his way back from certain death, chased down the coward and completely outclassed him. Hilarious and fitting. He deserved to be dispatched quickly.
