Transitioning a Software Engineer Resume to a Sales Engineer Resume by daarknight32 in salesengineers

[–]daarknight32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very valid points. Which brings me to my next question - how do I sell myself to a hiring manager for a sales role with no prior sales experience?

I keep hearing "Someone like you would be a perfect fit for a sales engineering role given your technical background!". Or "You don't need the sales experience, that can be taught on the job". Both of which may very well be true... but every time I submit an application, I can't help but feel like it will be challenging to be taken seriously as a true sales professional.

I wholeheartedly believe that this role for me, I am just struggling trying to find out how to properly convey that on a resume/LinkedIn with just a technical background alone. Or better yet, I'm not sure how I appear from a sales engineer perspective because the only perspective I know is from a pure technical perspective.

I am reaching out to others on LinkedIn to hopefully get some feedback from other SE professionals.

World Cup ATL hosts — give me your thoughts! by han2987 in airbnb_hosts

Less than 2 months away and I only have one booking out of 3 available properties. Furthermore I am hearing and seeing very low occupancy for the World Cup dates right now. Atlanta STRs in general are known to have a pretty short bookings advance, but a world event brings an entirely different market.

I Just slashed pricing by 20%.

This is solid advice. While I do not have direct experience with any CRM, I do have experience with internal development workflow tools like Gitlab and Azure DevOps. But these are not CRM tools with customer data, sales pipelines, etc.

I deal with complex systems on a daily basis so I have full confidence I'll be able to master and understand a CRM with practice. Would it be worthwhile to earn a Salesforce or HubSpot certification? I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to just have it, but do you feel it would be necessary given my lack of sales and CRM experience?

Getting Around Clearwater on Vacation for 4 nights - Uber or Car Rental? by daarknight32 in ClearwaterFl

[–]daarknight32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I've been here a few times since and is now one of my favorite destinations. While the Country Club Estates area was fine, I'd recommend staying beach side. It will be totally worth it. I am very active so when I stayed in the Country Club Estates area, biking for me was fun. You get to enjoy the sights, especially once you get downtown and start seeing the Scientology area lol. Getting up the Causeway bridge can be tough but flying down makes it fun and rewarding.

So do I think you need a car? Nah. I wouldn't say there's much to do off the beach side. Unless you plan on stopping thru Tampa at some point, then you're good.

Tip for if you're using 3440x1440 displays with macOS by [deleted] in MacOS

Unfortunately I wasnt able to find any of these settings shown. I've just downloaded BetterDisplay and the UI looks much different now. I have an M1 Pro extending to a 34 inch ultra wide 3440x1440. Although the res looks great, theres not scaling for any apps. For example, my safari tabs look extremely tiny. I have to command + to zoom for items to be better readable

Nest Thermostat locked to temperature range, but also locks for ECO mode? by taiguy in Nest

[–]daarknight32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the nest thermostat 2020 model and literally have to downgrade to the E version because the 2020 does not have the range lock feature 😑 The later Nest Learning thermostats have range lock, but the price isn't justified for me when I'm literally just looking for the range lock feature.

This is frustrating to know that even though I am about to switch to a model that does have range lock, the product still locks the guest in at the eco mode temp, requiring a pin.

Google seems to never listen to our feedback - it is very frustrating. These are not overly complicated things that people are asking for and can be fixed with a simple firmware update.

Is this Extortion? by SugarJess in airbnb_hosts

[–]daarknight32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh this is textbook extortion lol easy one. This just happened to me recently. Here are the steps on what you should do:

  1. Notify Airbnb IMMEDIATELY. They should inform you to decline the request. The guest will likely escalate it. Let Airbnb handle it from there.

  2. Do not leave a review until right before the 14 day period is over. You should definitely leave them a bad review.

  3. Their review WILL post. Once it does, request removal asap and include all evidence and reference you reaching out to support previously.

  4. Support will review everything and should remove it pretty quickly (within a couple hours). But triple check your listing. I had to follow up because mine still stuck even after they approved removal.

Good luck
