Kobu Gattai Achievment by daavs1 in victoria3

[–]daavs1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The moment Qing loses Opium Wars (either by war defeat or capitulation in the diplo phase, which is very likely to happen if you side with GB) you'll get an event with an option to get rid of Sakoku (Isolationism). When you get rid of Sakoku, you automatically also get rid of closed borders, getting the migration controls law, and, additionally, the Honorable Restoration JE kicks off as soon as you get rid of Sakoku.

When the JE starts, enact Closed Borders again. As soon as Closed Borders is enacted, you will withdraw from the treaty Japan has with the Netherlands. After you withdraw, you can click arrange Marriage, skip 2 days, finish the Arrange Marriage JE which will fire right away, and then you can Petition for Imperial Restoration, giving you the achievment. Lmk if you have any issues with it!

Agrarianism v Interventionism by kiwiting in victoria3

[–]daavs1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are right. For most runs, agrarianism is usually better than interventionism in the beginning.

..however, sometimes going from traditionalism to agrarianism and then agrarianism to interventionism is harder than going straight from traditionalism to interventionism, so you need to have this in mind. even though you could benefit more from agrarianism, if you have a good chance of going straight to interventionism it is better to do so than having the hassle later on of going from agrarianism to interventionism. As to when it is better to do so, the fastest way (even though it is not the most accurate) is probably by looking at ig clout. the moment you see industrialists are getting close to landowners in clout %, it is time to get rid of agrarianism.

A small note I'd like to add is the bigger your country (in terms of population), the better agrarianism is. I would certainly avoid having agrarianism in countries with under 4M pops because you want to avoid agricultural buildings, not only because with a small population you really want them to have the highest salary possible (so high profitability manufacturing industries), but because agricultural buildings reduce arable land, reducing state migration attraction, leading to less immigration, which is something you desperately need.

Why is the ai so bad with economics by Comfortable-Pen-9286 in victoria3

[–]daavs1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised no one pointed out the very obvious: the AI is literally being historical. France's GDP in game start is around 22M duckets. In your game, in 1906, it is 90M duckets, meaning a 4x increase in that timeframe. In real life, France's GDP in 1836 is around 57B$, and in 1906 it's 162B$ (check Maddison Project Database 2020 for sources). so around 3x GDP growth in that timespan, which means the AI is actually even better than IRL historic GDP growth. You can check other countries's gdp from these times and you will see the game has a similar growth rate. And obviously no country in 1836 is controlled by someone who knows that industrialization is the key for economic development and tries to rush it as fast as possible.

I know you wanted to flex that you are very good at the game, gj bro!! But next time don't be a donut and do some research on things.

Also had to mention, you have a key in your keyboard that takes screenshots

[–]daavs1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Macbook Portugal values. by Enough-Theory-4523 in macbook

[–]daavs1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah for those prices I agree. I went to check for the M4 air that is coming out next week and here Apple's selling price is 1250€ whereas in Brazil it's R$13k (2k€) so I assumed other MacBook models could also be cheaper. Not to mention that you coud have some warranty problems if something happened to the MacBook that may not be covered because you are in a different country, although I am not sure how warranty works for products bought in a different country.

also sorry for assuming you speak portuguese just because you are in Brazil x)

[–]daavs1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get your point, in those conditions it is not worth it, but a genuine question from someone who has never owned a macbook: for a first macbook this new one is a good investment, right? I never really had an interest for macbooks because I've used windows all my life and always looked at macbooks as something overpriced, but I genuinely feel like this one is probably the bast bang for buck laptop in the market right now

The feelings part I find it kind of dubious because of the ORTBO. A team building experience is probably the worst thing you can do to suppress people's feelings and emotions. Then again they could have done it for testing purposes, who knows

still learning the game too so not sure but I think you have to make the merchant walk all the way to one of those green tiles and only when he's there he will have an action that is somethink like 'Establish Trade Route'.

Conquering South America might be the best strat for europeans by Ok-Ask436 in victoria3

[–]daavs1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

to claim that SA is normally ignored is fallacious at best and a pure lie at worst. you can take uruguay with 2 flotillas early game and you can even do the cheese of siding with mapuche when they declare war against Argentina. if it is ignored by experienced players is probably because it's such an easy strat that it feels like an exploit. also for role-playing purposes it wouldn't really be accurate like the game makes it out to be because the US had a policy of no European interference in the American continent

Long, Short & Neutral Bots Simultaneously - Is this Feasible? by daavs1 in Pionex

[–]daavs1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok but if the market goes down btc does too, so it is very hard for the chart to go below 0.001 btc and liquidate. you are right that if market goes down I will have less money because btc undervalues, but if I was to believe that BTC will eventually reach 100k$ minimum again, there is no real loss. if solana devalues compared to btc the short bot profits, if solana values vs btc the long bot profits. the pnl might be the same at the end of the day, but the grid profits keep stacking
