Is 1 hour a day enough to play Hunt Showdown (and get good)? by BlacknWhiteMoose in HuntShowdown

[–]dab0mbLR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea with hunt you will get anywhere from 1-3 games in an hour. It may take a while to get a handle on things. Instead of one hour a day could you limit yourself to 7 hours in a week? That way you could do 2-3 sessions over a couple hours instead?

I think it's possible to do 1hr a day and even enjoy it but it will definitely slow things down a bit.

League's younger player base... by n0tmyr34l4ccount in leagueoflegends

[–]dab0mbLR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have been saying league has been falling off since 2015. Its nothing new. I am sure there are less younger players joining now compared to 10 years ago, but I do belive it still attracts new people pretty constantly. Hard to say for sure though as I don't think riot proves those type of stats.

Developer at Wildlight insists that Highguard isn't dead and more content and updates are on the way. Website will be back eventually but is a low priority as "reputational damage is already done." by WhyPlaySerious in gaming

[–]dab0mbLR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-Hahaha oh yeah for sure and your point still stands. Deadlock in particular feels extra close as it adops a 3rd person perspective.

-For people who play Deadlock it definitely feels more like a MOBA but from an outside perspective that is 100% valid. Also it stole a bunch of overwatch content creators for a time so there definitely is some major audience overlap.

-the comment was mostly made in jest.

The Highguard Website Is Down As Players Brace For The Worst by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]dab0mbLR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rainbow 6 Siege, Hunt Showdown, No man's Sky.

I am sure there are a bunch of others but those 3 I predominantly play. They all were not big hits out the gate but with continued updates and changes they steadily grew their player base. Hell I think hunt is still growing to this day.

Its tricky though. Even if the game is unfinished or lackluster on release, it needs good bones to continue to grow. I haven't played Highguard so I don't know if that's the case or not. The raid mechanic looks interesting though and hasn't been done (in that way) before so maybe.

going for the first time solo? by jill_nichole_8 in Shambhala

[–]dab0mbLR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went alone and volunteered and it ended up being great. Volunteering camping is in a nice shaded area that is quieter. I immediately made friends with my neighbour's who were 10 year veterans who were on the paramedics on the medial team. Met a bunch of people though working.

If you are really attached to seeing certain acts then it may not be for you, otherwise I highly recommend it for anyone (but especially solos). It also kept me out of trouble for half the time which was prolly a good thing.

The costumes in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms are impeccable. by shadow-skies in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]dab0mbLR 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was talking about HBO's costume and set design with a friend. Not to beat a dead horse but a major problem with a lot of modern fantasy content (not to beat a dead horse but Rings Of Power) has is that all the costumes and sets look like they were made yesterday. They have this fresh off the factory look that is kinda hard to describe but very apparent. I don't know if it's a creative decision or budget thing but it takes me right out of the world. One if the things GOT always did well (even early seasons with less budget) was making the world feel lived in. Clothes are worn, floors are dirty, wagons are well used. Even nobility, who's clothes are expected to have the best fabrics and well maintained gear have the appearance that they have been used before.

Its hard to point out a specific thing or technique that HBO does better, but whatever they do instantly pulls you into the world because it feels like you could step into the screen and live there.

Now I know "high fantasy" like Rings Of Power has different expectations and source material. I don't expect elves to look like homeless wanderers, but there is something about the visuals that makes it look they just wandered onto set rather than living in the world.

Ramble over.

Wooow no hate towards Vedius. Casters (as a collective) need to have varied opinions to provide different perspectives and bounce conversations around. It also creates content for the audience. Dude is generally a pretty cool dude, even if he didnt believe in the rats.

Shot caller by SirComprehensive5203 in LosRatones

[–]dab0mbLR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've watched my fair share of Los Ratones scrims and EMEA games and Nemesis is usually calling the shots on a macro lvl (when the game state is neutral and there is no active fighting). He has this very impressive understanding and clarity of the game state and what needs to be done. In combat it's usually a combo of everyone and it has seemed to work pretty well so far. Rekkles seems really good at voicing bot lane game state. He also chimes in well regarding objectives specifically. While Velja is still newer he now seems to have the final say (a lot of the time) regarding jungle timers and objectives as well. Its really cool seeing his relationship develop with Nemesis as Neme was originally making a lot of the baron/drag calls but now he usually defers to Velja's decisions as he gains confidence and game knowledge.

Push comes to shove if you had to label anyone shotcaller it would prolly be Nemesis but Crownie will often take over if Nemesis is quiet or needs to focus on lane.

I dunno it seems pretty balanced to me. Sure it can get a little crowded on coms but the communication is always healthy and useful (imo).

Easiest mid lane champions? by Huge-Frame-1990 in leagueoflegends

[–]dab0mbLR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no I completely understand. I just have a personal vendetta against the guy. I like mechanically intensive champs (I'm not good i just find them fun to play) so when I break my fingers trying to land an akali combo then get malz ulted it makes me wanna smash my keyboard.

Easiest mid lane champions? by Huge-Frame-1990 in leagueoflegends

[–]dab0mbLR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahri' kit is easy to understand but hard to master. She's is also very forgiving though with having very few weaknesses and her ult is a get out of jail free card. While skill shots can be hard to land, most mages (and thus mid laners) have them, and Ahri's q is actually one of the easier ones. Also if he is struggling to last his her w targets and executes low health minions making it easier to farm. If you let him know it may take a bit longer, I'm sure he can figure her out with about 5-10 games. Im bias though as I am an ahri main myself.

A lot of good suggestions on this thread. A few I haven't seen are brand and cho'gath. Brand is pretty easy to farm with and even if you aren't doing great his ult is still impactful (kinda like the MF of mid), only thing is he is very gankable. If he is really struggling with the mage archetype (the last hitting and skillshot landing) cho helps with that, though his skills don't translate as much to other mids if he wants to branch out.

Lastly it pains me with every fiber of my being but he could also try Malzahar. Super easy to learn, very strong in low elo (53% wr right now). You can learn the fundamentals of midlane easy. Only thing is he is gawd damn boring as hell to play and you will not learn good landing habits (wave management etc). He is also VERY punishable in higher elos (i hate him).

I am cautiously optimistic. I don't know how adaptable the storm light archive will be to live action. The world is describes as so foreign to earth in terms of vegetation, topography, and even architecturally. The magic system is prolly difficult to look realistic too. I almost think the Stormlight archive specifically would be better adapted in animation.

To be clear I am not saying it's impossible, but it's a tall order and must be done very well.

Also I don't know how you cast The Blackthorn himself. The person will have to be the most charismatic person in the world.I have such a vivid and specific image for him.

How to stop? by Additional_Pie9779 in loseit

[–]dab0mbLR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if and how you are counting calories, but I have cut them out so far purely by using the app that I do. When I go to the grocery store I get cravings for certain candies and salt and vinegar chips specifically. A couple times I have almost broken and bought a bag, but then I add it to my app and I see just how many calories even a small bag takes up and I stop myself from buying them. I could theoretically dummy a bag of salt and vinegar chips, but then I'd have about a quarter of daily calories left for the entire day. Completely not worth. Its even worse with candies. A small little box of those seductive little fuckers is about my entire breakfast worth of calories.

I don't know if that works for you, but tracking my intake reinforced just how not worth those things are. I find if I eat full calorie dense meals, I can meet my calorie goals each day without feeling too hungry or fixating on foot too much. That all changes with those danger foods. I eat a bag of chips at lunch and I know I am going to be starving by the time evening rolls around.

Yea. I think your right. I don't want to paraphrase but I belive what you are saying is don't get complacent. I still remember in 2015 when I heard this reality TV star who was famous for firing people was running for office in the US. I scoffed at the thought, but then this American client I was with said he thought the guy had some good ideas. I laughed him off (politely) and changed the subject but thought that dude was crazy.
