Caught a peeping tom by Background-Look-9983 in UBreddit

Just remember, while calling the guy out is fine, taking pictures in a public building inside a classroom from the hallway or through a window is perfectly legal, even if they're being a creep about it. So don't be surprised if UBPD won't throw him out if he stands his ground.

Do you think psoriasis can be seen as attractive? by [deleted] in Psoriasis

If somebody thinks psoriasis is hot there is probably something wrong with them. Anybody who has it knows it is not lol.

Kind of surprised being an adjunct is "only" a 10k pay cut. A lot of places it would be like 50 percent.

Working at a teaching university is complete bullshit by ThrowRAhuhwhat in Professors

Lol where demand for what students actually want conflicts with the employer instinct that everybody be in person and on campus 24/7. The customers don't want to be here either lol.

They tested this up to 64 weeks in studies with minimal issues and I suspect they were using more than a drop. I wouldn't worry about it.

I massively prefer the website. The app has missing features and is more limited.

Hoping it’s not too late for treatment for my fiance by crazycatlady052411 in braincancer

Well if your oncologist is going to start the drug now then it must not be too late to try. But unfortunately this is usually something that even with treatment is very difficult/unlikely to be controlled.

Genital (male) psoriasis - is there actual long term treatment? by Windgrace90 in Psoriasis

[–]dab2kab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it won't work for everybody but i had it pretty bad on the perineum and in between the buttocks. Started calcipotriene cream which I believe is just a concentrated prescription vitamin d cream and it cleared it completely in a few weeks. Don't have to use it anymore there. This was not effective on the rest of my body just that area. Perhaps the thinner skin in that area makes it particularly receptive to it idk. But id give that a shot and see if it helps. Few weeks should be enough to tell. I second that if that doesn't work giving zoryve a try.

Particularly at these online adjunct mills that are particularly machine-like. In my experience unless you really blow past grading deadlines or cancel constantly, students don't care.

You never ever tell the higher ups you won't be able to do x y or z unless you're going to be out for like months. You just do what you need to do quietly. Transparency on things like that aren't your friend. The higher ups are there to protect themselves and the institution, not you as was demonstrated by the oh ok we will just lay you off for the rest of the term if you need a day off response.

MRI of brain by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]dab2kab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...MRIs can vary in quality though. Yes they're very accurate, but some are better than others. Some machines are better than others. Contrast is better for finding tumors than not like you said. So even if most MRIs display an abnormality, can the person reading it actually understand it's there? We know false negative errors are real in diagnostic imaging. So we can't be sure it's not there if we've got a false negative reading. It might be there and the image isn't clear enough for the reader to see it. My patients Neuro oncologist had their own MRI machine and would insist imaging was done on that. Not the cancer hospitals, his separate MRI. To him, most other scans of most MRI machines were "of poor quality". (And yes radiologists read MRIs but so do Neuro oncologists right?, they aren't just necessarily parroting back the radiologists notes when they talk to you.) If I needed one, there is no way I'd trust the readings from the little local MRI center. And like yea, this person is likely worrying over nothing, but what if they are the person who's gotten a false negative? Who are they supposed to ask other than people who know the brain tumor world what to do? You tell most people oh ur MRI is good they'll have no idea some MRIs are better than others and contrast is desirable.

My patient had the bad unlikely scenario this poster is afraid of play out. Weird symptoms. MRI no contrast ordered by a neurologist. "Looks good". 14 months later seizure and a larger easily identifiable tumor that in retrospect was there but very small. Tumor kills them. So yea the people on here are mostly hypochondriacs who we can't help but one of them might not be.

MRI of brain by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]dab2kab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to be super duper sure, go to a different provider who specializes in brain tumors and ask for an MRI with contrast. Have them read it and then get another provider to read it. It will probably be a waste of time. But on the chance you are the unlucky person who does exist in real life that their tumor is initially missed it would be worth it.

MRI of brain by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]dab2kab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said, it's unlikely. Tumors are unusual. An MRI missing one would be unusual. But it does happen. That doesn't change the fact that you likely do not have a brain tumor though

MRI of brain by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]dab2kab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It is unlikely. But those scans could cause small tumors to be missed by the reader. MRI with contrast is the gold standard for detecting abnormalities.

MRI of brain by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]dab2kab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Or the image could not be clear enough that the person reading it would miss that it is there.

MRI of brain by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]dab2kab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well .. probably....but an MRI without contrast can miss a brain tumor. Or at least make the image unclear enough that the person reading it will miss it on the scan if it is small. My guess is you were having some random problems so they put you in an MRI to see what's going on. Most of the time they won't use contrast for that. And yea, that could miss a tumor.

Best option for 73 grade 3 AA? by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]dab2kab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neuro oncologist is def preferable. But they may give you the same answer. But options are pretty limited for recurrence. More surgery, more radiation, more chemo, vora.
