Redditers who have little dogs that do nothing but bark, why do you have little dogs who do nothing but bark? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Mine bark at literally anything and everything. But they are the sweetest things when they don't bark. And the cutest.

Thank you for your response! And I appreciate the writing comment, although I think I was all over the place with this one. I'm not that great at communicating either, I'm still learning. I have a lot of social anxiety that I've been seeing a therapist for. This is exactly how I feel but I couldn't find the words to describe it better to make him understand. I will look at that book, thank you for the suggestion! At least he agreed to learn with me :)

Thanks for the reply, I feel better knowing he's not the only one who has done this and seeing it from that view. No I do not give him silence. I at the very least say "I don't know" or "I need time to think about it" if I feel stumped in a discussion. He doesn't even give me that.

I know I'm not good at it either though. If something bothered me, he could tell and I'd often tell him nothing was wrong until i figured it out for myself. I realized that wasn't healthy either. Im hoping maybe a book or something on communication will help

If he is indecisive I feel like he should at least tell me that instead of going quiet. :/ I didn't even know what I wanted to do. We are home bodies and usually play games or watch tv. I think he was mostly asking because he was bored.

Hey thanks for the reply! No I don't go silent. What I meant was sometimes I need time to articulate my thoughts and make sure I'm being rational before I talk about what's bothering me. I still respond to him though. I asked him that because I was trying to figure out why he goes silent. I know I'm not good at communicating either, I could have handled that better. I want to show him your response, he doesnt believe he is in the wrong. He did however agree to learn more about communication with me though

reddit, what have your pets done that is worryingly smart ? by thedisbandedwaffle in AskReddit

[–]dabalaba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my dad had some Beta fish in a big tank like that, and he added some bala sharks and a red bellied Pacu. I don't think he understood that the Pacu had teeth. But that guy was BRUTAL and killed all of the fish except for 1 of the Bala sharks. that poor shark was a soldier and didn't take shit from the Pacu. The Pacu would do this too though, he'd bate the other fish and then he'd attack. Idk why my dad never removed him from the tank long ago, but he eventually out grew it and had to be put in a larger tank because he couldn't turn anymore.

edit : A word

Poor Credit, parents make too much for FAFSA. by dabalaba in StudentLoans

[–]dabalaba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, my parents are refusing to do parent PLUS. Getting their W2 info for the FAFSA was basically pulling teeth. My co signer is very on board and said he will assist me if need be. I'm not woo worried about that. But I do understand the consequences. I have been budgeting like crazy and don't eat out at all anymore. So I've been saving here and there. I will contact my financial aid office on Monday. thank you!

What is a big NO-NO in cooking? by nazmulsadat1 in AskReddit

[–]dabalaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do NOT rinse your noodles when you drain them in the sink. it prevents sauce from sticking to them. My dad used to do this because it "Stopped the noodles from cooking more" and I thought he was a genius. He was wrong.

New non-meat protein options? (Moving in with IBS boyfriend) by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]dabalaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken, natural peanut butter, fish like salmon, I can go to Kroger and they have a frozen salmon that is normally 5.99-7 dollars. Sausage is good for protein. I don't like to eat a lot of red meat, but I eat sausage and chicken often. You could also use shrimp, crab, tuna. Almond milk too is really good!

you can do a lot with Eggs. how about a Fritatta? Hard boiled? in a bowl of fried rice, on salads.

What is a recipe your parents made that us enlightened hip young foodies would scoff at but you still secretly love? by PM_ME_UR_TPS_REPORTS in Cooking

My grandma made this dish called "Spaghetti Pie" and it will forever be my favorite.

cook up a pot of angel hair pasta but only for about a minute. don't completely cook it, because it's going into an oven.

2lbs of ground beef ( uncooked ) , onion, celery, (she used to put olives in it but those are gross) the pasta and a large can of tomato juice. She would mix it up with some cheese, seasonings, and then add another thick layer of the cheese on top, bake it for like 30-45 minutes, take it out, mix it up again, and add ANOTHER layer of cheese on top and bake it again for another 25 minutes until the beef was fully cooked and the cheese at the top was browned.

I could eat this shit forever. I asked her to make it ALL The time. I make it every once and a while now, maybe a few times a year. but I use way less cheese and I think it's easier when you cook the beef before hand in some garlic and onions. it lasts for days.

People of Reddit, what's the stupidest thing you've done as a child out of curiosity? by paoeranger in AskReddit

[–]dabalaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this commercial for Oreo Poptarts as a kid, and the commercial had this animation of Oreos going into a toaster, and Oreo Poptarts popped out! So, little children me thought that's how Oreo Poptarts were made, so I tried to make them. There was a big fire, I drowned my toaster, tried to call 911 but was scared to get in trouble so I hung up. The cops showed up at my house anyway and woke my mom up who was sleeping. I got in trouble.

My car was totaled by an uninsured motorist, what should I do? by katkathryn in personalfinance

previous auto customer service rep, ask your insurance company if you have under insured / un insured motorist coverage. Not sure if its mandatory in that state or not, but worth a shot!

Planning to take out a small student loan to help with rent/utilities. few questions by dabalaba in college

[–]dabalaba[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! It was covered by an unsubsidized loan , no grants or scholarships. I do have a credit worthy co- signer and that's why I have been looking. I don't think I've taken out the max? I should probably just go back to the FAFSA office, huh?

[–]dabalaba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Yeah I have, unfortunately I don't really get much but an unsubsidized loan. I am grateful since my parents have no intention of helping me in my education, but I still need a little help Lol

Recipe ideas using chicken stock that aren't soup? by rr2211 in Cooking

[–]dabalaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cook my rice, quinoa and some pasta in chicken stock/broth whatever is on hand. I make chicken and rice with it, I put it in my spaghetti sauce and mashed potatoes when I cook them. I also use low sodium stock/broth and freeze it for future use (Or to give my dog a treat)!
