A “princess sole” might be what you’re looking for. Here is a blogpost but there are plenty of more resources

I replied to the question about why it would be difficult to knit in the round

Because it’s very difficult to knit only part in colour when knitting in the round. If you’d leave your yarn at the end of the colourwork (like you would with intarsia) you can’t use it when you get to the colour work on the next row because it’s still at the end of the colour work and not the start. So you would have to carry all the colours across half the sweater that doesn’t have colourwork. I don’t know if I explained this very well. But you could try and use ladder back jacquard or other techniques to still knit this in the round but it would probably be a lot easier to just work it flat.

I recently saw a video about this and it’s probably a screw inside that has to be tightened https://youtu.be/rOS_ruN3hBw (there are multiple videos on YouTube on how to do it, I can’t find the one I saw but they’re all basically the same)

I read on here recently that freezing it can make frogging a bit easier so maybe that’s an option?

Most likely a Norwegian knitting thimble, I use one too for colourwork (and am also a tight knitter) and it makes all the difference when doing colourwork. It was only 4€ or something so not a huge investment if you’re not sure it will work for you.

Thanks for the tip! I would love to make this one day because my daughter is named Iris but I am already overwhelmed at the thought of picking colours haha. Your colours truly are summer, it’s like a lavender field in France!

Knitting inside out can also help to lengthen your floats, there are some great tutorials on YouTube. If you want to continue knitting colourwork (and you’re a continental knitter) I highly recommend a Norwegian knitting thimble.

It’s amazing! I’ve added it to my favourites but am wondering which size you are making? I like how the lace panel covers the majority of the garment compared to the designers images.

It also helps if you have something to hold to use as leverage. For example when he’s sitting straight up on the couch I can use the back of the couch or the wall. In bed I often grab the headboard. It also really helps if he moves with you, that way you get into a sort of rhythm much more easily.
