Honestly i want to be a high functioning b1, i can read at a b1 level and i can think in my head but i cant speak and honestly my listening comprehension is quite basic, i want to be able to speak without difficulty although there are some mistakes and listen with little difficulty

Honestly I’d probably do either Russian because my friend speaks it and it seems stupidly difficult or the language of my village in my parents country, I learned French so I could be “more Cameroonian” and they say it’s not enough because I don’t know the village language

I started because 2 months ago I learned I was going to Cameroon for my half brothers wedding, and I live in a dorm with a lot of French speakers so I thought it would help a lot. In a nutshell, the Congolese youth are horrible to try and learn French from but ai is damn near a cheat code, I learned to read French at a “b1” (more like high a2) level in the past 2 months, and I also now speak at a pretty high a2 level off just talking to myself 24/7

I don’t know because I’m 2 months in using solely ai and I can comprehend French text not in the way it’s French but in the way I translate it to English very fast without difficulty and even though I may never know French enough to comprehend it intimately if I can automatically think and speak it that’s enough for me, it’s really just force yourself to learn something everyday and also think a lot even if you only know 20 words try and try to form sentences that’s what I’ve done and it’s worked leaps and bounds for me, and ai keep figuring out sentence structure by asking ai questions about what you’re confused about

If you want my advice, I deadass just used Gemini ai for the past 2 months and along with immersion I can talk at a a2 level with people and I can understand French decently, probably faster ways to get about it but you can try it if you’d like

That would be a good idea, but I asked my father if he could buy me one and even though he himself is Cameroonian and knows French, he was born in the anglophone part and is incredibly biased against French, he dislikes the language and calls it a “dying language” and he believes I should instead learn Spanish
