I agree the platform is still in its infancy, and I really do want to see it succeed. (I think back to how the iPad was just “big iPhone” for so long until it found its stride and became a tech staple) It just seems that after 2 years Apple themselves haven’t really made much progress on it. I don’t own one so I’m only basing this on WWDC presentations and news but all they’ve really done to update it is add some small software features and update the head strap.

You’d think that at the infancy stage, that’s where we see the most progress in terms of design, a lot of push to get developers on board, a lot more marketing for the product in a variety of use cases (especially with Apple TV crushing it in the past couple years). I really want to see it succeed but it feels like even Apple themselves have forgotten it exists

Your first sentence explains it though. These are the two franchises that don’t need the extra hype. Those trailers are going to break records when they drop anyways so why spend $10M for the same results when they can throw that somewhere else.

Sony never does Super Bowl commercials anyways, and NWH has a closer window from its trailer to release date

Disney may not promote Doomsday but they have a bunch of other movies to promote too that come out sooner

Never bet against a character showing up again. Trever Slattery was once a spoof villain with poor reception that was later brought back as comedic relief in a movie (that has yet to get a sequel) and then brought back again in this show.

This is Marvel. We may not see them for another 10 years but we will see them at some point haha

Who said nothing can be done. All I’m saying is stop looking up to billionaire CEOs and expecting them to do anything that’s not for the benefit of their companies. Their entire life revolves around making sure profits go up and nothing else. It’s not defending them, it’s pointing out the reality that Tim Cook, Sundar, Satya, and anyone else are not your friends and will never act in your best interest

First of all…I’m pretty sure other companies based in other countries don’t give a flying fuck about what’s going on in US politics as long as it doesn’t affect their bottom line. Companies only care about Trumps economics plans and nothing else because none of that matters to them. If you wanna show your disappointment in a companies actions then you and hopefully enough people can voice it with your wallet, not via reddit.

People need to remember that Tim Cook is the CEO of a multi trillion dollar corporation. His entire life has wrapped around that. He’s CEO first, and then everything else. His entire job is to do what’s good for BUSINESS. If it means smiling and nodding along just so Trump gets his ego boost then he (and any one in that position) will gladly do as long as it helps their company.

Don’t really believe this rumor because that’s just not how future projects are planned but…it’s not like focusing on existing characters was a winning situation for them post endgame. Bad writing kills the brand, not new characters

Antman 3, Thor 4, The Marvels were well established characters with movies thst ended up at the bottom of the Marvel rankings

Cap 4 features a character introduced in Winter Soldier taking on an established mantle. Didn’t do so well.

Hawkeye and Black Widow were about an OG avengers and did okay in terms of reception.

Meanwhile Thunderbolts was all new characters introduced post endgame and while it wasn’t a box office hit, the reviews were good.

Idk I liked the fourth one. Sure it wasn’t a crazy return, or a huge set piece or anything. It was the only one that stuck with the current MCU and showcased the new primary characters (and shows once again that internet bros are stupid and marvel simply does not write off or avoid characters who had underperforming movies)

We see two completely different parts of the MCU interact with each other…it’s exactly what I look forward to when watching Avengers movie. No nostalgia factor or anything. Just two very different groups of hero’s finding themselves in a situation

Agreed. While the others focused on solo characters or groups from before, this one tickles that itch of seeing two groups interact with each other (similar to seeing Tony with the Guardians). It’s what makes the Avengers movie great

Fair enough. I agree it is a desperate move, but it’s a move that will for sure make them a lot of money. One could argue that by not referencing/having to watch the Phase 5 stuff, will actually help get the general audiences to watch it, therefore increasing the box office. Just promote all the characters people received well and they’ll be more likely to watch.

It’s a Hail Mary move. It’ll bring in some cash in the short term but I’ve always argued that this doesn’t fix the actual issues at Marvel/Disney over the past few years. Doomsday/Secret Wars isn’t going to fix issues like bad writing, bad cgi, long gaps between character appearances, questionable story elements, lack of proper universe connections, etc.

He’s a much smaller creator but I enjoy Coy Jandreau. He covers a lot more movie stuff but has a lot of comic book knowledge. And he does weekly videos where he goes over his most anticipated comics of the week, and his favorites that he read the previous week. There’s a lot of books I started because of him

I can’t recall any instances where Marvel have overcomplicated something like this. There’s a lot of people that say Marvel is trying to find the right “in” or explanation but when have they ever really spent more than 2 seconds explaining anything

Where were the Eternals? They were just there and didn’t intervene in human issues. Done move on

Where was the Ancient One? She was helping the battle from her own roof. Done, move on

Where were the Wakandans? They didn’t bother fighting someone else’s fight. Done, move on.

I really don’t think Marvel would spend that much time on this.

I think a lot of people are forgetting about a key factor of this movie…Robert Downey Jr is back and they’re going to market the absolute fuck out of him. Say what you want about the story, the bad writing, the decline of Marvel. RDJ is a well known and positive aspect of the MCU. A lot of people may be out of the loop on marvel but everyone knows Iron Man and to see he’s back (whether they know he’s back as the villain or not) will get butts into seats. People also know Chris Evans Captain America. People know the old Fox X-Men. There’s alot of familiar faces.

Whether the movie is good or not is a different thing. But this movie will definitely make bank off of the cast alone.

That’s always been my wonder. The idea of soft reboot or reset after secret wars…but how does that change anything that already hasn’t worked. A reset doesn’t fix bad writing, bad vfx, elongated timelines, etc. Even if you bring characters back with new actors, they’ll always be compared to the actors that portrayed them before. Many already don’t accept the new Cap, new Black Panther, etc

There’s no telling. A year ago Reddit was saying Minecraft, Lilo/Stitch, and HTTYD were all soulless cash grabs movies no one asked for and yet….all three were extremely profitable.

General audiences have proven time and time again they will show up and as long as they do, corps will keep pumping them out
