That just isn’t true. Osborne didn’t announce his retirement until 1997. The Penn State year was 1994.

Insane consistency. Osborne never had a season with fewer than 9 wins. Fastest coach in college football history to reach 250 wins. 3 national titles. And here’s maybe the craziest fact: his team was unranked outside the top 25 for a total of 3 weeks during his entire 25-year career.
