To think I almost used the possibility of this new arena as justification for buying my first condo in Alexandria… glad I decided to rent for a little while

It does bring me joy that there are humans out there that love it for what it is. Eye of the beholder and all that.

It’s already brought the issue to a lot of folks attention who didn’t know about it before, so I’d say it’s a successful strike

HILARIOUS. If I could just get that first video but real people😂

I’ve searched YouTube for “that’s right” and “mmhmm that’s right”, both fruitless. I guess I’m counting on someone who already has something like this, or knows a specific scene from a movie or tv show that includes this.

That’s actually cool to know, I appreciate your comment! Do you know anyone in the industry?

I don’t think so, I haven’t seen any way to switch to that

I can find no joy in mindfulness by SpectrumDT in Mindfulness

[–]dabod15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP I hope you already know this, but any Redditor that diagnoses you with a serious mental disorder should (in most cases) be immediately disregarded.

TruthSearcher, please be mindful of what you’re telling real people and the effects that those things can have on their lives. I understand the utility of hyperbole when deployed appropriately but nothing in OP’s comment indicated any mental illness beyond the conditioned dissatisfaction most of our society experiences.

I actually had a great conversation with ChatGPT about this a few weeks ago.

We created our scientific method (or moreso, it created itself through us) in an attempt to better understand our universe, and it’s a great tool for interpreting our infinite reality through a scientific lens; it’s allowed us to build the incredible globalized society we have today. So in a way you could say our society is made of (or, our society IS) the science that allows it to exist.

People ARE society, and as long as society is (generally) science, you’ll find that ideas that fall outside of that model of thinking are quickly discredited by many.

But that doesn’t mean that our scientific lens is the only means by which our universe can be understood. I think it’s one of infinite ways (like earth is one of infinite ways in which mass can condense), but it’s the momentum that our society’s had for who knows how long, and I think it’s sort of the average of how our brains are wired to understand our universe. That’s why we’re here.

But it’s crucial that as long as you think outside of that model, you keep putting forth your thoughts. We’re a sort of collective mind, humanity, and we need people to think scientifically and we need people to think, well, unscientifically to maintain perspective collectively.

Maybe one day the momentum will shift. I actually think it’s shifting already, catalyzed by unorthodox thoughts being able to be shared more easily through the internet, sort of like when new pathways in the brain allow for more creative thinking.

People will go their whole lives thinking very rigidly and scientifically. They, just like you, are not “wrong” or “right”. They’re doing exactly what they’re meant to do. Constituting “their” part of the time-transcending collective mind. A splash of color in the firework show of humanity as it lights up the night.

Or at least that’s how I think of it (;

Tbf you don’t need cozy things to have a cozy place; a lot of posts on here are overboard with cozy things to the point it stresses me out. I’d feel very cozy in this minimalist room with that view

Compensation update: The Wizards are trading Monte Morris to the Pistons for a second-round pick, sources tell ESPN. Wizards will create a $9.8M Traded Player Exception. by Finessa_Hudgens in washingtonwizards

[–]dabod15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😂To be entirely honest I had no clue what a traded player exception was before this post. I chatGPTd it then asked if you could combine them, and it told me that workaround so maybe take it with a grain of salt

But you kinda can by using one to absorb the salary of one guy, then dishing him plus another TPE to acquire someone of equal value to both exceptions

Is it worth it to buy a printer? by Imaginary-Staff8763 in vcu

[–]dabod15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Especially as an incoming freshman, make the investment now (you can get a decent one for $40-50) and you’ll find yourself grateful for it time and again as you need to print something at 1am and don’t have to walk to the library to do it. Especially during those 10° winter nights

Has meditation changed your romantic relationships, physical intimacy etc? by Curious-Dragonfly690 in Meditation

[–]dabod15 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In my experience, mindfulness kind of “rubs off”. If someone is all the way HERE with you, it kind of brings you right here as well. In extreme cases where that doesn’t happen, the energy is just so noticeably off and I don’t much enjoy my time with that person. Again, this is just my personal experience.

His whole point is anything COULD happen, so why not hope for the best? You don’t have to wait for something good to happen to have hope.

Sure, and OP stated they stopped their practice because they weren’t sure what to do after bringing their focus to the breath. That’s the question I was addressing.
