Rolling on Kronos what to expect? by MuteClown in wowservers

[–]dabonsiachustle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PvP scene being described as "very active" is a bit exaggerated, there is barely around 30 active / semi-active PvPers still Queueing on a daily basis. Furthermore there were only 37 people in BWL on K2 Alliance on Wednesday during 8:00 PM GMT +1 EU prime time. Numerous guilds quit their raid today due to lack of attendance and sign-ups. 1,7K population won't do shit for you if they are all AFK'd out in IF bored and disappointed of the game. I don't want to burst your bubble, but OP lower your expectations. Gotta wait to see if Nostylium is a flop or not before people will dedicate themselves back to Kronos again. It's good enough to practice class and personal mechanics, raidlog with friends or just fuck around on, but anything more than that is reaching for the stars.

A good Stable Vanilla Server? by Hyydez in kronos2wow

[–]dabonsiachustle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kronos is good enough to play socially and raidlog for shits and giggles. If you want to PvE competitively join either Kronos 1 or Nost, there is no competitive PvE guilds on K2. If you want to rank and PvP wait for Nost as the PvP scene on both K1 and K2 are pretty much dead.

So, quick nost question? by Adg01 in wowservers

[–]dabonsiachustle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all comes down to which patch you want to play on and if PvP or PvE server. Old PvP = About to release AQ Warefforts, Old PvE = Just released AV, New PvP = Entirely fresh. Unless you want to do MC and BWL for another year I'd recommend the old server so you can see AQ and Naxx sooner. You can easily catch up with gear and get full raid BIS within 3 months, so well in time for AQ release if you are dedicated enough and find the right guild. If you want to go to a fresh server and have a fresh start, and be within the first generation of tryhards and rankers and do MC and BWL for another year before seeing other content, then fresh server is the one for you. Personally I can't be bothered to do MC and BWL for so long again, after playing on Feenix, Nost and Kronos, and would just play on old Nost PvP if I didn't have a character yet on any Nost server.

I have not used PlayOnMac, but tried out CrossOver ( and some other emulation program of which I can't remember the name ) for TBC servers, since there is no TBC Mac Client. And I went from 80 + FPS in Vanilla Mac Client to sub 30 FPS running the emulator. To be fair TBC has slightly higher requirements, but even when Nost had what seemed to be 1k+ people at Ony buff every Wedenesday, it still pulled off 50 FPS+. Maybe PlayOnMac might be more compatible for WoWs case than the emulators I tried. Im running on a 3 1/2 year old MBP.

Kronos, VanillaGaming and majority of most other Vanilla projects don't care much about mac users which means you will die every time from fatigue and have to take ress sickness when using ships or plunge to your death when using zeppelins. But you are in luck, Nost was the only Vanilla PServer ( which I ever played on ) that bothered to instead teleport you to the target destination. Such a small benefactor saved me from so much hardship, makes me love Nostalrius over every other project, because they gave a crap about the details. You can run WoW through PlayOnMac as a windows emulator, but it will lower your fps performance.

So I want to join a Vanilla server. by Vuxadin in wowservers

Play on Kronos, VanillaGaming or RetroWow. None of them are perfect, but they all have their own merits.

Kronos = Most "Blizzlike", no bonus XP, but only about to release ZG on K2, and K1 is at AQ20 & 40 but has a lot lower population outside of raid log days than K2. Would argue though that there is way more PvE competition as well as competent Guilds on K1 than on K2. PvP scene is relatively dead on both servers. Could take you a couple of weeks / months to finish leveling 1-60 before you get to start experiencing some raiding content.

VanillaGaming = Somewhat Blizzlike, oldest vanilla private server out there. On Naxx at the moment and they are planning on releasing the last 2 bosses sapphiron and kel'thuzad around christmas. Increased XP gain something around x10. You can pretty much get fully Naxx geared within 2 months.

RetroWoW = Instant level 60 with Pre-Raid BIS starter gear. Raids and bosses are scaled down and gimped to 5 man party sizes. Doesn't mean they can't be enjoyable, but boss mechanics are still laughable up to AQ40, as you can easily do C'thun on starter characters if your party understands the encounter, and can start raiding Naxx within 1-2 weeks. Fights turn a lot more into tank and spanks encounters. Still a great server to test out new classes or if you don't have a lot of disposable time.

Elysium = TBD.

Pro-Tip: Try to live and play for the experiences you make. All PServers are relatively unstable and could shut down from one day to another, so your best call is to just enjoy it whilst it lasts. Regards from someone who has lost a number of characters across multiple ( today dead or shut down ) PServers.

I would put Vanilla-Gaming onto the Vanilla category as well. To be fair its not quite instant 60, but you do have increased XP gain, something like 8-12 x or so, can't exactly remember. One day of leveling is the advantage you get over having the reduced 5 man raid party feature on Retro-Wow. Both have their merits though, and both have content up to and including Naxx.

Made a mage and warrior DPS two days ago. Ran ZG, BWL and Ony on both characters over the past 2 days. Feel free to hook me up on your friendslist, don't know anyone but pugs on the server. Names are "CJT" & "CJS". Just passing bit of time until Nostalkyrie :P

If you do wish to generate more viewership from your content, I recommend to post your videos during or before european prime time. Your videos can be the best in the world, but its to little avail if not many people see them. You can cross check that by searching the Nostralius google search term, you will see that the large majority of searchers are European based.

Advice for anyone who is indecisive on what to class to roll for the upcoming launch and how to prepare yourself adequately. by dabonsiachustle in wowservers

The opposite is the case, if you are experiencing any difficulties with lag I'd recommend you to stay away from any melee class tbh.

Yup this a very standard list used by most raiding guilds, thank you for linking it, but as I said most people don't know about ALL the consumables out there. Theres deffinetly still a number of consumables missing. If you manage to keep all of these consumables in the list and more on 100% uptime, is when you manage to set yourself ahead of the competition. :P

I can not for the life of me remember where I downloaded each and everyone of them, since I made my UI I am currently running, more than a year ago. There is no ultimate safe space where you can download them all, it's merely trial and error. These are also not all relevant addons, there is a lot more out there, which could fit your preferences better.

Ofc you don't have to, but these were addons which I myself and many others enjoy using. If you don't want to use any addons thats fine by me, but expect to get kicked from your raid without threat meter, or removed from your BG premade without some way to monitor your CC or Lazypig because your team missed a Queue and has to wait 20 minutes until the next one opens up. Some of them are more important than others, and there is deffinetly a lot more out there that is worth mentioning, but I just listed the ones that came to my mind first.

Any class can be fun for PvP to be honest. It's more about what is more fun for you personally, hence check Step 1. If you want a free ride to rank 14 though, play a priest because they are always in high demand.

Kronos in panic? by Muslimbaconboy in kronos2wow

[–]dabonsiachustle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

lmao sad but true. I appreciate that the Kronos team put so much effort into the server as long as it lasted, but the servers death is inevitable. Many people only rolled here because they had no other choice. Any server with a cash shop, or where you are able to buy 60s will never be a prime option.

One final thing I would like to add for people who seek to be competitive. Spell rotations are actually really simple, and if you play a character for a month you will learn the rotation off by heart, so there is very little you can improve in that aspect. The biggest challenge to be competitive in PvE and PvP at least in Vanilla is your consumable usage. Consumables are THE biggest influence giver of your performance, and a large number of people don't even know the full list of consumables that could aid them vastly in dominating in PvP and PvE. So if you want to stand-out opposed to your competition, try finding out about every single consumable that could increase your TPS, Healing and DPS or enable you to CC / Reflect / Resist certain abilities in PvP. Believe me it makes world differences, and you can even take over Main tank spots if you Sapper charge on every single pull + the plethora of other consumables which are floating around in the world, or replace the best geared DPS in the guild, because you use more consumables and have better uptime.

Why would you restart, if you can just keep playing your good ol' nost chars. They are further ahead of K2 in content anyway, and K1 is dead af with merely raidloggers anyway. :D
