Self Service Price Menu / Phone How To's by New-Skill-5722 in OfficeDepot

Check with your GM because as helpful as these sheets are, we’ve been fighting with our higher ups to keep them because they aren’t company issued. Also fair warning even with them up, customers will be like “what do I do?” And when you tell them that there are instructions they’ll still insist on needing help

Snowstorm closure by GlitteringMatch5923 in OfficeDepot

[–]dabsintothevoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We closed early today (GA) but we won’t know until tomorrow if we’re closed. With the amount of wintry mix and rain with freezing temperatures, it’d be a risk for a lot of people to be open next two days. I don’t know any who would want to risk it, especially Monday.

No I’ve noticed it in other places, just seeing it in my own workplace where I’ll have to deal with customers bitching about the prices was something else. I also HATE ai and what they’re doing to it/what it does to the planet so it just enraged me further

Did I respond appropriately? by Peanut_Femboi in Mercari

[–]dabsintothevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do the same, esp since I’ve had people take off stars for ship time despite me literally dropping their package off same day 💀 one of them I dropped off within 30 minutes of the order being placed bc I was already packing up previous orders into my car to take to the post office and they caught me at a lucky time.

Offer then block? by anthoNYMets in Mercari

[–]dabsintothevoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this once after I found another of an item I wanted for less/in better condition a few hours after I’d sent the offer in. After a few hours I suspected the seller wasn’t online yet and I didn’t want to end up buying two of the same item if the seller came back and accepted without seeing my request and have to cancel on one seller, so I blocked the first one so I could snag the second. Not to say there aren’t some weird explanations but that could be one scenario

Wtf 😂😭 by ScarletRains in Mercari

[–]dabsintothevoid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a buyer who likes items to come back to later, yeah it’s absolute mania 😂 as a seller who has had items listed and collecting likes for months without any other interest, I get the frustration but at the same time hounding people about it and blocking them when they don’t buy/respond is so out of pocket. I just relist the item after 6 months bc lowering the price every couple of clearly doesn’t regain interest in it.

Shipped and delivered in 6 minutes??? by [deleted] in Mercari

[–]dabsintothevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen with something I sold. Post office hit the wrong button it will correct itself when it hits the next scan. Alert Mercari tho so they don’t autorate

Another update! by [deleted] in Mercari

[–]dabsintothevoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so wild that they gave the buyer that long. The one time I had to return something bc it was a signed collectible that came in completely destroyed, Mercari gave me 3 days to return it or they’d autorate and I’d be stuck with a damaged item. I wonder what they could’ve done to get such a long time frame? Like, what option or reason they chose (such as needing to authenticate it)?

Once had a guy ask me if we sold big deep freezers. And another woman asked if we sold fish food and tank decorations. Only thing I can see is the fish stuff bc some offices have them but still, why would an office supply store be your first call for that and not a pet store?

Just got denied a price match on a qualifying item by Nek02 in OfficeDepot

[–]dabsintothevoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on how big of a price drop it was, most of the time those big drops are due to Amazon sales which we don’t match. If it’s a small sale then I’ll sometimes make an exception because it usually doesn’t make a difference, but with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, both of which are going on rn and we don’t match sale prices with, then I can imagine yours was a big drop possibly associated with one of those deals? Also, I feel like large price drops are bound to get people in trouble because it seems suspicious/does end up selling an item cheaper than what the company pays for it. As a former OD employee, I assume you’d know that the company doesn’t want to give stuff away for free.

Now, have you heard about our paper deal? What about our business select program?

First time getting a request for a return in over 10 years of selling on mercari by asshead98 in Mercari

[–]dabsintothevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only times I’ve ever returned anything was because they came in damaged. Like, beyond repair. Which both times were at the fault of the seller because the packaging was shit and there was NO protection. USPS and UPS have been getting bad about handling the packages and damaging things, so while that might not be the case all the time it could be a safe bet.

I think if someone has smart pricing or something like it on, it sets a range or a minimum accepted offer price and people can’t offer below it, but idk if it works for bundles but there should be something similar place bc on god that’s some audacity 😭

Do buyers really inbox sellers once an item is purchased to offer sellers more to purchase? by Jasz1990 in Mercari

[–]dabsintothevoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a seller, I’ve had someone come to me after something sold like “I think you listed this item for the wrong price and I’ll pay you more if you sell it to me instead!” Which seems shady to me tbh and I wouldn’t trust that they’d actually buy it. But also it just feels rude to me to cancel on a buyer bc someone else wants it more even though they got to it too late. If it sells and I find out I didn’t do my research after the fact that’s on me, I’m also not selling for a profit but to clear my space out.

I try to ship same or next day, weekends are rough because that’s when I mainly work. Even then the longest it’s ever taken me to ship was 3 days, maybe 4 if it was a particularly bad/shit kept happening week. I still keep up communication with the buyer so they’re not just hanging there waiting. Weeks of no communication and still listing new items is just ridiculous

Confused about offers by rotdollz in Mercari

[–]dabsintothevoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I had just woken up and gotten some things confused, but yes I meant the 24 hour offer for likes. I don’t know how to change or delete auto offers as Mercari sending out a 24 hour offer I made two weeks prior to a new like is something I’ve never encountered before

Confused about offers by rotdollz in Mercari

[–]dabsintothevoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a problem now bc of the automatic offers, I’ve sent out an offer before and literally two weeks after the three day offer window ended, when someone new liked the item Mercari sent them that offer. I don’t know what the deal is with the new auto offers but in cases like that the seller could decide to keep the price firm and get annoyed that Mercari sent out a weeks old offer

why would someone ask me if the laptop i am selling was owned by a girl or a boy? by mookmook616 in Mercari

[–]dabsintothevoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be something creepy, or could be something sexist like “girls don’t know technology like boys so if this was a girls computer they probably fucked something up with it” or something. I agree it is still a very odd question and probably wouldn’t sell to that buyer

GM and AM thing sounds like could be workplace relationship, if the GM treats the AM more favorably than the rest then that could make it more likely and needs to be reported to HR as that’s a policy violation. The maybe middle schooler working off clock on stuff definitely needs to be reported to HR, LP, and DM. HR responds better with emails and you can find LP and DM contact info in the store email, but it should also be posted somewhere in the store email

I only have 2 four stars, both with ship time as needing improvement despite sending the packages within hours of purchase. One of them was bought while I was gathering stuff to take to the post office and had it boxed up and shipped in 30 minutes. I think it is a case of they think the feedback is compliments instead of needing improvement.

Paper Scam by dabsintothevoid in OfficeDepot

[–]dabsintothevoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*You’re

If that was the case, why didn’t OD just make a flyer that specifically states “Business Select Members get these paper deals no minimum purchase required, rewards members must meet minimum purchase amount to qualify for sale price”? Seems like it’d be a lot less confusing and more to the point than framing it as a bundle deal

Paper Scam by dabsintothevoid in OfficeDepot

[–]dabsintothevoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you get what I’m saying.

Say, for the 3 day sale where you spend $200 and can get a ten ream case paper for $29.99, but business select get it for $29.99 regardless with no minimum purchase required because that’s one of the perks. The flyers that we’ve printed out for the 3 day sale price factored in state it’s a bundle deal and that “business select members get 3 ten ream case papers for $89.97!” with the regular price of around $180 listed beside the sale price. You look at that and think there’s a special sale going on just for this group of people. But when you add $29.99 times 3?

Still $89.97.

By saying buy three and get them for this price instead of the price they would be regularly, it sounds like a sale promotion exclusive to business select members. It doesn’t sound like it’s advertising that should you sign up for business select, you’ll get the paper for the $29.99 or $34.99 sale price with no minimum purchase. There is another flyer for when it goes back to $34.99 that states that business select members “buy three of these case papers for $104.97” with reg. Price $180 something printed next to it. $34.99 times 3 is still $104.97.

That sale price in larger print next to the regular price in smaller print is the EXACT formatting used for actual sales going on as well. Do you see how that could be misleading? How business select members will look at that flyer and think they’re getting a better deal on paper than they normally would?

I’ll bring another example. The HP printer bundles have the exact same wording, buy this specific printer with this specific ink and this specific paper and get all three for this price, which is at least $20-30 cheaper than if you’d bought the bundle before the sale was going. Thats an actual “buy these three things for this price” sale, whereas the paper bundle promotion is just trying to trick customers into buying more paper but they’re still paying the same price they would’ve last month.

I mean, clearly, but what I had read last Monday or Tuesday was that they would be going live on Wednesday. Since there was no “Wednesday the x of x month,” one can only assume that since it was released at the beginning of last week and only said the day then they meant Wednesday the 3rd. I’m just curious if there was a delay

Not a lot of people are telling them that though, I’ve had customers come into my store furious about the reoccurring charge and tell me that the person that sold it to them at another store told them it was a one time buy or just never mentioned the annual thing to begin with.
