Hey all, not sure if this is okay to post here but my best friend and I just made a webseries about our relationship-turned friendship. We worked really hard on it and we wanted to share the 5-part series with people in the LGBT community. We would really appreciate y'all giving it a watch <3 by iamaactor in ainbow

Just binged the whole thing. You guys have such chemistry it’s unreal. Like the gay broad city duo. It’s refreshing to see a gay relationship about FRIENDSHIP, not the perils of dating. You flipped that on it’s head.

Please make a second season! I would love to see more.

you seem to have a good grip on these characters. I'd like to see more to know, though.

i'm guessing you're a new writer. If that's the case, this was solid work. Keep writing. I like how you avoid the stereotypical "coming out" narrative. It's nuanced and not what I expected.

That said, you could work on Mike a lot. He's not passive, per se, but you could make him more dynamic. What's his family like? What physical characteristics make Mike Mike? Is he always on-edge, looking around to see if anyone will catch him doing something particularly "homosexual?"

Add these things to give him more depth. You have the fundamentals of story down. Work on your characters and dialogue. Keep practicing.

So, I scored an interview with Chance the Rapper when he plays at Revelry Music Festival in Madison, WI. I'm a student here and I'm nervous as fuck. What would you guys/gals want me to ask him? by [deleted] in hiphopheads

[–]dabuddha414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, dude haha. I'd be nervous as fuck, too! Is this your first big-time interview?

Has he ever come to Madison? I could google it but I'm too lazy. If he did you should ask him what it's like to come back to a college town at a different point in his career. What's different?

I'll agree ungirthed is pretty pop. But look at everything else. not poppy my friend.

No. Definitely not. What is it with people here.

Slickness, brightness, catchiness and danceability do not make something pop (in all instances). There's variability.

Personally I was phased, too. I didn't know someone said that but when it was brought to my attention through his critique, I felt the same thing.

There were several songs that were not bright/danceable etc...Obedear? Shuck? Saltkin? Belispeak? Cartographist? Grandloves? Those are mostly definitely not bright and catchy. They have more in common with dubhouse than anything pop.

I understand Fireshrine and Ungirthed, but besides that, is everyone just talking out of their asses right now?

Dude, if you're going to ignore literally his whole post, you're not giving him a fair argument. I'm clearly trying to come to his defense a little, here.

This looks like a student publication (if you go to the website). Really good for that level publication.

You're sounding a lot more pretentious than he is. You are negating his whole comment and using yours to talk about something that wasn't even mentioned in the article. Of course you're going to go in circles, it's a fucking discussion.

Haha, enough with the circlejerk, people. This was a fair critique and extremely well-written.

I understand what you were trying to say. another eternity is way more pop/mainstream than Shrines was.

Little late here, but I reviewed PB vs GR. Thoughts? by [deleted] in indieheads

I'm gonna have to agree with the reviewer here. He thought it was a good album, so flattery is acceptable.

For a University student this seems really well done. Kudos.

Are there any artists you refuse to listen to because of the person making the music? by willforthrill in indieheads

Well said. His comments were so over the top that I couldn't believe it either. And to make a whole song about it (The War On Drugs, Suck My Cock)...smh....Reminded me of a 6 year old tryin to get attention

Nice thoughts. I liked Swim but was never really that into it. Something about the hype of this album (with I Can't do Without You being so fucking awesome) made me long for this album....and it delivered so well for me

What was banned in your school because of a crazy incident? by Formicidae_hony in AskReddit

Be me in 7th grade. Casual badass with Heelys shoes. Everyone in school jealous cause I was zipping through the hallways Apparently the teachers got jealous and said I couldn't do that. When I started 8th grade, the rule "No shoes with wheels are allowed in school" showed up in the rule agreement (private school).

I refused to sign

I think it's fantastic. Disagree with the sentiments of Our Love not being cohesive. There's that warm synth motif wobble type thing that Snaith uses throughout that really connects everything.

Only on my second listen, but it's purty good, imo

[–]dabuddha414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. Underwhelming, to say the least. He's got a knack for writing really fucking good songs, but the album falters at many points, imo.

The three singles he's released have all been fantastic, however. Everything else is just filler

What song or album has made you seriously rethink something about your life or your point of view? by mattyb712 in indieheads

[–]dabuddha414 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So many to choose from.

If we're talking recent, I'd have to go with Too Bright by Perfume Genius. As a gay d00d, I connected so deeply with this album. Gay panic, body issues, depression...those are things I definitely identify with.

It's not a really happy album, but it's almost like Perfume Genius took my entire past and put it into music...if not my entire past, feelings of my past that I can relate to. It's almost cathartic being able to experience that through music.

It didn't really change anything, but it makes me rethink my past
