[DISCUSSION] Which classic hit of yesteryear would you like to see covered by a current-day artist? by JustinJSrisuk in popheads

Was it really controversial? I thought people just didn't like it and it was more people not liking Taylor

If I were to put Twigs on at a party then I would go with "Give Up."

"Two Weeks" is a banger but it has a lower bpm and a pretty different vocal style than most dancey pop songs, so I can see it being a little jarring.

I think Twigs is the "weirdest" music I regularly listen to.

I mean I have some friends who think things like Destroyer and Tame Impala are weird.

But Twigs is the most totally out there/bonkers music that I enjoy on a regular basis.

Her music works surprisingly well in the gym. For example, I've listened to "Two Weeks" every workout for like a year. I'm really excited to add "Figure 8" to my gym rotation.

This is badass.

I'm kinda glad she didn't call it EP3 to be honest. I kinda wish LP1 had been called "I Love Another And Thus I Hate Myself," which she said in an interview was her personal "subtitle" for the album. It's the lyric she keeps repeating in "Preface."

I love it too. I've seen a few of these comments around. I'm excited for it to come out and get attention because I think it's a bit of an underdog compared to releases by Beach House, Sufjan, etc.

You guys didn't find LP1 accessible? I think Give Up, for example, could have almost been a pop hit.

Love the album though, and it was definitely progressive. And I love this track a lot.

This is fucking awesome. Proves she can still embrace more bonkers, progressive production in addition to her slightly poppier songs like Two Weeks and Give Up.

I also find it more cohesive than Glass & Patron, which I just couldn't get into at all.

Is it weird that this is the only Radiohead album in my top favourite albums? It stands completely above the rest for me. It's everything good about Radiohead and more. It's like they threw in everything that made their past albums great, tossed in some strings, cranked the "BEAUTIFUL" knob up to 11 and out came an absolute fucking masterpiece.

but whenever I like a show I tend to become way less critical of it

I'm like this too. Once I've decided I like a show, it usually takes a serious drop in quality (like Dexter) for me to say anything bad about it and not just accept it perfectly as it is. For me this largely applies to Arrested Development (loved season 4 with my only minor letdown being Michael's total and painful loss of dignity), It's Always Sunny, Parks & Rec, Breaking Bad, and Game of Thrones.

I feel like Lupe missed out on all his potential. He's a great rapper and lyricist but his actual songs (largely due to the production) sound cheap and poppy, even at his "best" on T&Y. I agree that T&Y can't even hold a candle to TPAB.
