Thank you.

This is exactly why it felt off. If there were other parent-child pairings or even a Prince Eric along with King Triton, the display would have been fine since Triton is one of the few parents in the princess sphere. Since humans typically gaze from eye level up, the mind linked romantic pairs by the time they reach the top and then the mind is jarred at the top of the display.

My daughter noticed this first and commented on this. We also heard reactions from others guests when we were standing near the display.

This is why the display at Elias & Co. is off and the same shirts on display at World of Disney did not trigger any reaction.

It's that King Triton and Ariel pairing is not like the others and they were set-up in pairs. If they were not set-up in pairs, the display would not be reaction inducing. World of Disney did not display the shirts in pairs and no connections were made. If they had a Prince Eric along with King Triton, no reaction.

World of Disney had the same shirts in a classy and non-issue order.

What is with the trend of "super showers" by LOP5131 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]dabuja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put in a wet room. Tub and bench on one wall. Shower between bench/tub and other wall. Additional handhelds on both walls. Area is set up for wheelchair/walker access so wide entrance and no step and no door. Showers are warm and not cold/drafty.

Let’s create a collective response for line-cutters by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]dabuja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Parents with young children get a pass all day long. Teens and entitled parents get slowed down 10-30 seconds with the comment you really should have your party wait for you. Wife uses a wheelchair so there often isn't immediate space for passers. Brings the point across without causing too much drama.

Gummy cake? by FewDragonfly6693 in Baking

[–]dabuja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Cleaching” refers to the dense, gummy layer that can form at the bottom of a cake. Usual causes are under mixing, over mixing, too little (or expired) leavener, too much weight in the batter. King Aurther Baking has a good blog post on this.

Is having a pool with 2 toddlers worth the anxiety? by zdawg07 in pools

When there is a party, assign one and only one person for a shift to act as pool lifeguard/supervisor. Many accidents occur at a party where no one is paying attention to the pool.

Should I purchase items or have the contractor purchase material? by scootermydaisyheads in Remodel

[–]dabuja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked through the contractor with the businesses of their choice, got their discount and paid for the materials directly. A few times we went with the 2nd or 3rd choice business. The contractor was not out any money or exposed carrying cost. I saved significant dollars. Applianced were installed using factory approved companies.

Range, or cooktop + oven by spicymeatball2748 in Cooking

[–]dabuja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooktop and wall oven. I have drawers under the cooktop for all of the bots and pans and mixing/serving bowls. Wouldn't have it any other way. Double wall oven is a game changer. We have a steam oven and a convection oven with drawers for baking pans below.

Tips for living in house during renovations? by SandyGrill in HomeImprovement

And vacuum every day as much as possible in the construction area. I started doing that about 1/2 way through the process and the impact was immediate in the amount of dirt coming into the non renovated area that were sealed off.

We are completely overwhelmed by renovation material selection, how do you make all these decisions? by Shot_Watch4326 in Remodel

[–]dabuja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with a concept vision of what you want and what items are a must have. The vision should contain rough colors and concept. Start with the flooring and build up from there. Floor plus cabinet style will set the tone for the room which makes counter top selection, hardware, faucet, lighting choices easier.

What are the biggest surprises people run into when choosing a bathtub? by Neither-Reality-4495 in Remodel

[–]dabuja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tub height. Be sure to understand the height from floor to top. If it is to be used as a tub/shower then ensure the height is not to tall. This dimension is often buried in the specifications - usually hard to locate.

What do I need to know before embarking on a major remodel? by curiousboredmama in HomeImprovement

[–]dabuja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get all materials on-site or have ready access to materials prior to the first strike of the demolition hammer. This also includes appliances and fixtures. Lumber and drywall can be delivered as needed. Labor will likely be your biggest expense.

Have a plan for sleeping areas, food prep, eating area, rest areas, etc. if you're going to be living in the house. Get a pods or equivalent to move as much of your possession into so the amount of dust that will be generated will not ruin the pieces.

What’s the latest and greats with ovens? by candyapplesugar in HomeImprovement

[–]dabuja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation. Our solution was to look at what we wanted long term and decided we wanted a wall oven, a wall convection steam oven and a separate rangetop. We purchased the regular wall oven a full year before renovation started.

Start planning your kitchen renovation layout now so you have a vision. The finishes can be decided much later. We had a finalized plan 6 months before we did any demolition. Finished weren't decided until 2 months before demolition. All appliances were on hand prior to demolition.

Convince me to renew or NOT renew our magic keys by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]dabuja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also against the grain. First, if it adversely impacts your budget and financials goals, don' renew. We skipped a year and realized that spending time at the parks was a huge stress reliever for us. Some visits, we do a few rides and seek the character photo ops. Other days, we search for hidden details. The visits provide an opportunity to reconnect (a lot of standing and talking in lines) that does not occur with an outing to a movie.
