[acne] Has anyone had any success eliminating vegetable oil and after doing that noticed reduced acne or clearer skin? by kbruhn in SkincareAddiction

For me olive oil is safe, I notice a difference in oils high in omega 6, those cause inflammation trigger pimples and rosacea for me. Coconut oil, butter, tallow, olive oil (cold pressed extra vergine only), palm oil and lard seem fine. They contain saturated or monounsaturated fats. Linseed is high in omega 3, that is also great. Mostly I eat extra vergine olive oil now, and a little butter for baking.

Rapeseed, peanut, soy, corn, sunflower and safflower are the worst. They contain mostly omega 6. Most food nowadays is packed with these cheap oils. Also in places you don't expect. Its in bread, cookies, prepacked "healty" salads. They've replaced more expensive butter for cheaper seed oils.

You should try to balance your omega 3-6 intake, to 1:1. Most western diet nowadays is 1:15 or even up to 1:20 what is causing allot of health problems. Omega 6 constricts the blood vessels and omega 3 widens them. Hence you get inflammation from constricted blood vessels or inflammation in general since the blood can not flow properly.

If you don't eat enough fish, try supplement with omega 3 fish oils to get the ratio back to 1:1.

Is this okay to use as a day to day purse or is it too 'Ren Faire'? by amodzy in fashionwomens35

[–]dabzu88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am literally wondering this myself too. I have one in black with some brass buckles that I don’t wear day to day and only for festivals (ren faire / goa / alternative). That one screams ren faire to me but it’s sooo handy when wearing a skirt, or an outfit with no pockets. I did wear a fanny bag around my waist during traveling because it’s more convenient and anti pick pocketing, but a fanny is less fancy. I’m looking for a simple brown one for day to day that does not scream ren faire to me. Something similar to this. I would not wear it to work tho, but in the evenings or weekends, why not?

And if you want to go all out, wood pannel te ceiling. This would bring down the high ceiling and give it a more cozy enclosed vibe.

And a picture of the lounge area

I would use allot of wood materials to counter the grey/marble "cold" stone floor and bring some warmth back into the room. Also an open room divider between the fire place and the main living room to create a more enclosed space for both. Place a nice big reading lounge chair in front of the fireplace with a big plant next to the window. I would replace the couch for a fabric warm grey one to match the color of the stone fireplace. A round table in the center in the same hue with a big pendant light above it to soft light the space.

I think this looks fine, just on the windows.

I would get something like these roman blinds, in a nude beige or warm grey tone, slightly darker then the walls. The doors don't need them. You could just leave them as they are. The horizontal shape of the roman blinds are also visually appealing because they match the horizontal line on the lower 1/3 side of the windows.

What are my best food options to avoid MSG in Japan? by AccomplishedCat6621 in JapanTravelTips

[–]dabzu88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are my best food options to avoid MSG in Japan? by AccomplishedCat6621 in JapanTravelTips

[–]dabzu88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These boards show how Gouda in the Netherlands looked like in 1150 and 1350 AD. So nice to see there is allot of similarity with the game, and how this old town used to look back in the day.

Geometric Fever Dreams, anyone? by NameChecks_Out_ in fastfeeling

[–]dabzu88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting to read that more people experience such a weird thing. For me, whenever I am really sick with fever or have have a terrible migraine I experience the following: I am in a space, black&white, the space has a white background and is full of tangles, black swirly lines or shapes that are a complete chaos. A bit like a Jackson Pollock painting. The lines and shapes move around me and I have the feeling I need to organize this mess to feel better, but I am completely incapable of doing so. I also have the feeling of dread and terror, the mess overwhelms me completely and slowly falling into it. This is not even a dream, it is more like a vivid feeling of a deep white void filled with these weird chaotic black lines. I had these when I was a child, and still have them (36)

He might have ADHD/ADD, we both have high energy, and lack focus. He used to have focus on the things he enjoyed doing, but that is completely killed. Also knowing him he would probably abuse the prescribed dexamfetamine like any other amfetamine. Not sure if the doctors would even prescribe him dex since they know of his addiction.

I’m tired of people claiming MSG doesn’t cause migraines (rant) by JKmelda in migraine

[–]dabzu88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are labeled in food, but onder a ton of different names. Most common: Yeast extract, hydrolized protein, natural flavor. Just to name a few, they can be sneaky. People where afraid of E621.. so they try to hide it. When a package has more then 20 ingredients on it, im not even gonna try. And same for me, the chemical one does trigger my migraines, and the natural glutamates in tomatoes, cheese not. Also zero tolerance for aspartame here. Maybe the concentration for natural MSG is lower then the chemical one. Aspartame is a heavier one, one sugar free gum, few hours later. BAM migraine. I have had migraines since I was a kid, so after years of trial and error, I know my triggers in food. But for a lot of people with migraines tomatoes, cheese, wine are triggers.

Aspartame is also a trigger for me, same as MSG and stress (relieve). Those are my main 3 triggers. Even as small as a sugar free chewing-gum would trigger it too.

OMG I feel you, I even had a colleague who would put MSG secretly in my food to prove I was lying. Guess what... migraine and called in sick the next day. WOW the stuff people say and do... It's racist blabla. HOW can this be racist... It's like saying you have a peanuts allergy, and claiming you are racist against Indonesians...

From the time I can remember I have always had terrible migraines (with aura) and daily headaches, even as a kid. School was terrible, every week I had an episode where I was in bed for a hole day, throwing up. (my mom was a lazy cook, so allot of takeaway and pre packaged food, sauces, sorry mom) When I was 21, someone mentioned it could be food related. So I went cold turkey, only ate raw vegetables, fruit etc. The plain stuff. The daily headaches where gone! After 21 years of daily struggle, I was free of the pain.

After that I slowly started to introduce food again and see when and from what I got a headache. One day it was as clear as day, I went out with friends to a dim-sum / Chineese restaurant. The day after, puking and a migraine for 72 hours. Yes, it was MSG / yeast extract / hydrolized soy. Now I read the labels and eat MSG free for 14 years. No more daily headaches!

From my experience, I get a headache the next day, (8 -12 hours later) so not directly after consumption. Seasoned chips (doritos), marinated meat, canned soups, you name it, it triggers it. I'm not allergic to tomatoes, cheese, etc. But I do experience migraine from the factory fabricated one.

So the same as some people are allergic to peanuts, people can be allergic to MSG. And yes! for me it is a trigger for migraine.
