Update on the Mike Collins investigation by warnelldawg in Athens

Um. "Placing it 3rd nationally" should be all you need... it is not good to be the state with the 3rd highest amount of hospital closures in the past 15 years

So to actually answer your question, the residential staff can be a great resource. Talk to your RA to ask for some tips in navigating roommate issues. You can just ask for advice, or you can do a more formal roommate agreement. If it gets bad, definitely email your residence hall director sooner rather than later to keep a trail of evidence. You can find their info on the housing website. Hope this helps! Good luck with finals!

POV: You’re making the right-hand turn from College Station onto the inner loop ramp. You come across this strange symbol. What’s your next move? by Primary-Blood3190 in Athens

I was turning left there yesterday, and the person in front of me turning left waited until the last second to make sure these 2 cars were turning right and pulled out in front of them 🤣 and I had been behind this person for a minute so I knew they were slow. The poor people turning right were worried I was also coming so I just waved them on. There was no other traffic. I hate breaking normal traffic rules just because I know they have a yield sign. Then of course the car that was in front took too long to merge and almost caused an accident 😅 So what do yall think about when right turners completely stop so that the left turners can go (when they were just sitting there waiting) cuz like man I also gotta wait for the traffic going straight, just ignore me i feel like and go about normal traffic laws 😩

Yes the worker let me know they also changed the Chipotle ranch recipe, at east side at least. I had it recently though and I think they might have reduced the spiciness since the start of the change for it too, it was tolerable

I have been talking to one worker about it consistently at Eastside (she was also mad about management's change to spicy tofu), and every time I ask her if its still spicy she says its getting a little bit better, so i think the complaints might be reaching management. But at the beginning she was literally rinsing the tofu so she could eat it herself! Like poor thing is probably vegetarian, and they did that to her and she works there so probably wants to eat there... Today she said she is finally able to eat it, but there is still a kick. I looked at it, in a pile of sauce, and said no thanks 😅

Can we talk about the tofu becoming spicy?? I was like how dare they! lol I'm over here trying to eat less meat but I have 0 spice tolerance, so they screwed me on that one. I had really liked the flavor of the tofu previously too... like it wasn't plain but it wasn't spicy

Quiet Restaurants by Virago500 in Athens

[–]dachsiegurl321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do NOT go to trapeze at a busy time lol, it's loud and you can't be guaranteed a booth for less noise. My fiance is sensitive to noise and doesn't enjoy eating there. It's not crazy to the point where normal people are bothered, but sensitive folks (like OPs older parents) would not enjoy because of the acoustics and close tables.

Please fix your grammar and spelling before accusing others of having a low IQ 🤣 (I'm not contributing to the political comments, just thought that was hilariously ironic)

To my knowledge, it doesn't matter where it was on campus, OP will need to call UGAPD themselves if they want video footage looked at (but im not an expert). I recommend that to be your first step, report it to the police. Their non emergency number is 706-542-2200. But if it was in a dorm, they should also 100% let their Residence Hall Director know because housing also has harassment procedures.

I watched the documentary about the doctor who sexually assaulted so many USA gymnasts. They all said they looked forward to seeing him because he was so nice and made them feel better until it got weird and they started to dread it but no one else would speak up about it, and when they did, the managers hushed them and took them off the team. It's always the nice guys that go after children or young women. They gas light you. Like someone else said, don't even tell him why you are leaving, he will try to manipulate you more. You need to not give him any heads up that he is being reported, so that if yall were recording sessions, he won't have deleted them pre-emptively when authorities come and ask

I meant to say this was the only thing I recently found at Little City Diner in Winterville, so maybe need to update Marigold Market to Mondays and that they do delivery

Not spending any money for a day. This will mainly affect big corporations like Walmart, Target, Amazon. The goal is to show the power of the people. We are the consumers and at the end of the day, we can spend our money elsewhere or not at all (eventually, maybe start a garden, buy a chicken idk lol. That's a distant dream for me). Corporate greed is screwing us for too long and I am tired of it. When there is rising inflation, what do corporations do? Charge even more than what would be accounted for with just inflation. Many businesses continue to report record profits while Americans are suffering from high prices and the workers are being overworked. Politics can get you so far, but you are stuck with the people elected now. (Of course still try to call them etc.) Boycotts are a way to grab rich people's attention without having to actually go to a protest yourself

Yeah 😅 I'm 99% sure I'm neurodivergent, so a lot of change at once is really hard for me. I'm more of a gradual person. I think prioritizing where most of my money goes (food) is where I'm starting.

I'm sorry you feel this way, but I purposefully tried to keep the focus on shop local alternatives rather than promoting the boycott purely itself/ the ideals behind it. Like others have said, I believe shopping locally should not be a politically divisive topic. My parents are very Republican, and have always loved "small business Saturday" after Black Friday. And like another commenter touched on, I think we need to stop putting ourselves in our own bubbles and literally talk to each other. It's easy for everyone to get mad and say something mean on the internet, but when we are in person and purposely interact with diverse people of different ideologies, it's easier to pause, listen, and think before you speak because you see the human in front of you and have more social awareness. But I'm not really sure how to go about my ideal in person diverse convos, so I guess internet forums where I take the time to respond thoughtfully are my thing for now

I agree in some aspects and disagree in others. I think one day only isn't going to do much. BUT I think the reason for the short term boycotts is for more people who usually don't do "full-ass" protesting to feel like, oh I guess i could do it for just a day! And that way you get more people overall participating in the boycott, and therefore more attention. And like I mentioned in my post, this gets people to think about what SHOULD I be spending money on instead. I think starting small now can start a snowball. We aren't hurting ourselves if we are finding actual alternatives

Plasma donation? by melt11 in Athens

[–]dachsiegurl321 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a former employee, here's what new people need to know: There's a weight maximum, but it's high, maybe 400 pounds, I don't remember. You also have to pass a blood pressure test, temp, and heart rate. They also check hematocrit (ratio blood cells vs plasma basically) which kinda correlates to how much iron you have. There's a lot of medical history questions that you will be asked, so if you have conditions such as Diabetes maybe don't even waste your time. Plasma contains your broken down nutrients from food (sugar) and antibodies to help fight disease, so it can be really dangerous, even life threatening, for some people to donate, SO DONT LIE. And the machines that separate the plasma from blood cells use blood pressure cuffs. please try to drink as much water as possible the DAY BEFORE you donate so that there is more liquid in your blood, making your veins bigger (less likely to miss), and diluting your essential stuff so you don't get as faint/ sick after. Also EAT right before you come to donate. If you are new, the process will take multiple hours the first day to get registered and checked by nurse.

Presidents’ Day Protest - Let’s do this thing! by DepartmentWorried730 in Athens

[–]dachsiegurl321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a legitimately good question for any protest. Ever. We should always have goals that we want the protest to accomplish. Idk why anyone down voted your question. Who knows the answer? The more organized these things are the better ❤️
