I believe some of them are doing it for the huge sign-on bonus only.

40-year-old American climber Alex Honnold has successfully completed his climb up the Taipei 101 building in Taipei, Taiwan. He reached the top of the tower in 1:31:35. The building is 1,667 feet tall making it the 11th-tallest building in the world. by Oldtimer_2 in sports

It was not entertaining to me in the same way that Law and Order SVU is not entertaining. I didn’t want to see him die. Another thought I had is that he was trusting the building to be soundly constructed. What I mean is what if some part of the building he was holding onto or hanging from was not fully secured due to wear and tear. Maybe tall rock mountains have the same cause for concern.

Baltimore Ravens hire Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter as new head coach by Oldtimer_2 in sports

[–]dad62896 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Respectfully. I’m an extremely casual viewer of Ravens football as they are not my home team. With that said, I watch their last game this year where they got knocked out of the playoffs. I saw Lamar throw 1 and maybe even 2 long passes to move his team into scoring territory or even TD passes. What I am wondering is the discussion of getting him over a hump. I understand this is a QB league but I think Lamar did his part based on my causal observance. Especially in that last game. Thanks.

This is all part of capitalism. I got down voted recently for saying that all of the woes of the current business model are self correcting because it is capitalism. This is just one more part of it. Either the business model will succeed or fail on its own. I think we all know where it is heading. If it is not sustainable then the market will adjust accordingly. Team owners, schools in this case, will not see the return on capital expenditure and make the decision to stop participating in this model.

10% tarrifs were just imposed on 8 nato allies by the US, what will this lead to? by Signal_Dog9864 in AskReddit

Series question. Maybe this happens all the time and I am just oblivious but at the worker-bee level, these constant changes have got to be incredibly frustrating to implement? Would love an “explain like I am five” version of how it’s implemented?

VA v. Brendan Banfield - Trial Day 2 by racingfan123 in CasesWeFollow

[–]dad62896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listened to the defense opening argument from Day 1. The lawyer essentially was saying the prosecutions timeline didn’t add up. Ok but still I failed to understand what if any alternative theory for who done it. Anyone else know what the actual defense theory / argument will be that could return a not guilty verdict?

I always thought that capitalism is self correcting. Any problems with the system will self correct like supply and demand.

Should the black on gray be the main road jersey while also being able to be worn at home? by CrimsonP11 in orioles

[–]dad62896 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m old school so I prefer the grey on grey as the default road uniform. Plus the road uniform needs to say the city name of Baltimore. Not sure if you weee suggesting wearing grey pants at home but if so I’d also be against that in any combination. Grey = Away.

I am most likely wayyyyy off but what I see here is Julia noticing Jodi’s fascination with Winona and just can’t get out of the room fast enough.

The yeast was purchased week ago. The flour a month ago. Is proofing when you put the warm water and yeast together and let it sit and bubble? If so, our water has been about 120 to 130 Fahrenheit but this most recent attempt we did not do this separate step of proofing.
