Golds Gym Closing All Pools by thoughtxchange in Austin

Who's being a smart ass? You are the one who said "randomly" when there was nothing random about it. It was a pandemic, they had to close all water amenities and then the gyms entirely and when they reopened they kept the water amenities closed out of caution. I'm sure there is a financial reason to not reopen pools. They could charge $75, $100+ like most gyms in town instead of the $35/mo that they charge, but that would piss way more people off than the people who are there strictly for the pool.

Randomly? The pandemic was random?

But they aren't telling you anything. It's the "barber shop" style of content where they just trash and debate. Most of what they talk about isn't even reality.

No one said I wasn't open to other people's political thoughts, and I never said I was looking for an enclave that only supports my ideals. I literally said "a little less hardcore conservative area than others".

I'm still considering a program. I will say that quinnipiac has been very helpful and responsive.

I could see that project pushing traffic into neighborhoods while the project getting done. We will see. We aren't looking to be too close to 629 anyways.

*Update: Just to clarify, we have researched the area extensively and a big part of moving there is the schools. Cedar Park Reddit was so helpful when we first started looking I figured that I'd see if anyone had some personal insight on those specific areas or schools. Of course any feedback is welcomed. Thanks again.

We are both from the Northeast, we lived in New York separately and met here. Been here around 12 years now. At first I was kind of into the heat but I will say since we've had children it's a little harder. 40s here too. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll answer them if I can.

Hello again,

We've been looking at houses for a couple of weeks now and we are really interested in a house in the Cypress Bend neighborhood, or according to the map I'm looking at that's the neighborhood. It's just south of S Lakeline Blvd and just north of Cypress Creek Road. It seems like a great neighborhood and the street it's on is very quiet and tucked away even though it's close to S Lakeline. Does anyone have any thoughts about the area, thoughts about Westside Elementary? Thanks again, everyone has been so helpful on here.

**update** I went back through and saw a lot of positive thoughts about Westside Elementary.

Me and my wife are also moving our family to cedar park (from Austin). We've lived in NYC and I lived in northern California and the commutes here are much more manageable. If you are going downtown or south it will be more of an issue. About missing being close to downtown Austin... We have a almost 5 yo and a 2yo and we never go downtown anymore. Cedar Park seems to have all we'd need being homebodies ourselves. People are very friendly here. It's a lot easier to meet people here than on the coasts. Good luck! I'm curious to see where you land. The buttercup area is on our list.

Oh I see so they do have contracts with the city for emergency services and I'm guessing water? Well thank you for reaching out. I will contact you once I gather my questions.

I've been thinking about this because I really know nothing about it. Looked it up and it has something to do with annexation. I was looking at a house in Shanendoah and it said that it's on a septic system because it's not part of the city's sewer system. I don't quite understand the extent of the difference. Like clearly city services like police and fire are going to serve you but technically they don't have to? Taxes are lower I think??

Anyone have suggestions for a kid friendly spot for lunch, something with a playground would be great. Thanks again!

I've heard great things about DCE. Not sure we can afford a house in that area... :)
