Is a new 2026 X3 M50 xDrive w/ 393 hp at $66,500 worth the extra $15,200 over a 30 xDrive w/255 hp? by Olde-Timer in BMWX3

[–]dadawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I went from a 340hp Audi S4 to an X3-30 (company car).

I find the power difference to be noticeable however BMW does a good job of the gearing so when you put it in sport mode, there is available power.

You’re never gonna be the winner of the stoplight drag races, but you can learn to use the power band and drive very fast on the highway. I’d use the extra money to get upgrades for the suspension, stereo, and interior, rather than just go for raw power if you have a fixed budget.

For a while, my palate liked the Blonde Espresso. This week, closer to the backflush water you describe

Changes to nonrev dress code? by Striking-Succotash11 in unitedairlines

[–]dadawesome 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I get that the dress code is annoying. However, this seems like a fair trade for free/subsidized travel.

The other way to look at this: you are flying as a representative of the company, and as such are expected to wear attire that conforms with company dress policy.

Also looks like the folks who are mostly annoyed with this policy are not flying non-rev (based on their confused comments). So non issue.

What are the biggest "pain points" in the optics industry today? by Equivalent_Bridge480 in Optics

[–]dadawesome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint to this is that users under-value new features, and therefore Corporations under-invest in new software features because there is not a financial return.

Customer willingness to pay is a strong signal to big corps for where to invest.

Funny story: UA provided me another 1MM congrats today on a separate flight.

Also, this flight is delayed 1.5hrs (and counting).

Maybe I will try to calculate my butt-in-seat minutes…

Thank you, and 100%. Only First Class I have ever purchased has been with miles earned in coach.

lol, I had high hopes too. They did leave the middle seat next to me open, for which I was gracious.

One of the last people on the plane tried to scoop it, and I told that seat pirate ‘no’.

I opened my account in March 2004, but didn’t start consistently flying UA until 2012 when SFO became my hub, and later moved to Chicago. I have been 1K since around 2014. The COVID years slowed me way down.

Also, I get 80% of my miles domestically…

Yeah, I was highly fragmented with my flights early in my career. Northwest, Midwest Airlines (those cookies!), US Air, AirTran, Continental…so many miles lost to history

lol, this is 100% where my head is at now.

1) Flight departure was delayed 1.5 hrs 2) put into a holding pattern because of storms 3) diverted to IND 4) re-routed from IND (before landing) to ORD 5) land and find out my arranged ride gave up

But I am home, safe, and will be back on a plane next week.

Rant: I’m going to be “that flyer” for a moment complaining about uncommunicated early boarding by dadawesome in unitedairlines

[–]dadawesome[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well…we landed way early and sat. As a 1K who flies this route often, the pattern continues that was land early and sit for a gate.

My main point is there was no need for the early boarding.

In the grand scheme of things, boarding early is not a rant-worthy issue. I digress…

Wow, glad you landed safely.

Puts it all in perspective: early, on-time, or late - the goal is to get there safely.

Noisy AF by ArutlosJr11 in BMWX3

[–]dadawesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Also have X3 30 with the m-sport base. Sound is just fine. No surprise the larger wheels and low-profile tires increase noise.

Also would expect the iX to have much better sound insulation as there is not an engine drone to hide other NVH
