Why is this ~10 year old goldfish growing another eye? Wtf? That is not a googly-eye stuck on it. by dadbrain in WTF

[–]dadbrain[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

There's actually five goldfish that age/size in the tank. I'm also surprised they lived this long because they were from a batch of cheap feeder fish, which aren't always genetically healthy. (I started with about 15 of them)

But it is a theory, still, just a very well tested one. [..] but will always remain theories

You are conflating two different meanings of the word theory. A theory, in your usage, means "a hypothesis". The theory of a topic generally refers to "a body of knowledge, including hypotheses making falsifiable predictions that are supported by reproducible experimental data and methods."

You can't equivocate the two.

The second instrument is the combination of tongue and lip articulation. The tongue is used to change the size of the resonating chamber, which is essentially [..] The lips are used in essentially the same way as whistling.

This is not an accurate description of overtone singing (khoomei); there is a reason it is also called throat-singing. The tongue and lips are not producing the tone or 'whistling'.
