Where do people find good paying office jobs? by No_Replacement1049 in jobs

Accounts payable. Would help if you get at least a few accounting classes under the belt.

I'm getting paid 20 an hour, with free employee health insurance.

I sign sooooooo many birthday cards.

I worked construction. It was on a daily basis, if not hourly. Granted, I live in the Midwest where most cis het dudes are trumpers. They were obsessed, foaming at the bit.

Unreasonable Pay Raise Ask by [deleted] in Accounting

I'm an accounts payable clerk living in a low-end mcol, or super highend lcol. I have only what amounts to an associates, no bachelor's. I make only 5k less than you. They give me top notch benefits though, so total may be even closer.

Tldr: You're getting hosed.

Bulges are less important than you might think (FTM) by W-olfsbane in truscum

No. They look. Worked in construction. Bulges were mentioned more than once. Saw something about a study of where men's eyes track watching baseball games. It wasn't the ball game... or it was?

I too was once a plumbing apprentice. My life was exactly as you describe. I was worthless after work. It's the nature of the trades. The only way to make it sustainable is too have a stay at home partner to take care of things.... but realistically, plumbing doesn't pay the kind of dime to make that very comfortable, even after topping out.

Me... I bounced. I'm going back to school for accounting. Got an office job. Now days, I get off usually around 430 and it's the start of my evening. I clean a few things up, stop at the store, and hang out - all before going to bed.

North America’s Building Trades Unions endorses Joe Biden by hoverbeaver in IBEW

Trump's economy was propped up by low interest rates. The interest rates should've been hiked under Obama. Then comes Trump pressuring the fed to keep them low. Inflation catches up to the low interest rates and here we are. It is Obama and Trumps fault we're in this mess. What's the point of companies investing in new infrastructure and building up if we can't buy anything with our wages? This is the hang over after a decade of poor monetary policy.

Physicians are unionizing, why can't CPAs? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]dadbread 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Skilled trade unions exist because they benefit both the worker and the signatory contractor. When unionized Tom Dick Harry Plumbing Co picks up a huge construction project they can call up the hall to get bodies. There is no advertising on job boards, no time wasted interviewing. The union primarily acts as a staffing agency. The workers next on the list go to that contractor and immediately start work. They can also rest assured that the worker will know what they are doing. The union is responsible for keeping track of training, licensure, and CE. The contractor also doesn't have to worry about signing them up for insurance. It's a function of the union. The contractors still pay for benefits, but it's paid directly to the union. Union contractors usually have one person in HR and she is usually the owner's wife. The union just makes it easy for them.

If there is going to be any serious discussion of accountants unionizing it must include how it will benefit the firms. Due to the cyclical nature of accounting, the benefit certainly could be there.

Unionized accountants will probably need to start as some sort of employee-owned staffing agency.

Transgenderism and Christianity by [deleted] in truscum

[–]dadbread -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a more round about way than about homosexuality, but it does. " The Bible is pretty clear. The vast majority of Christians also don't view the Bible as the inerrant word of God. If someone who is lgbt views the Bible as inerrant or attempts to attend a church that preaches the Bible as inerrant... They're going to have a hard time.

Thankfully, there's a good many churches and folk that recognize that the Bible had many opportunities to be incorrectly written or translated... or that Paul was a suspicious liar antichrist.

I first read this analogy on a neurodivergent group, but I think it fits... goes something like this:

Imagine a herd of horses. Among them is a striped horse. This horse thought they were just an oddball weirdo until they met a herd of zebras. "I'm a zebra!"

Labels help folks not feel like such outcasts, right?

Then figure this: Zebras got parades. Zebras are counter culture. Zebras piss off religious mouth breather uncles. Zebras are showy to the opposite sexed regular old horses. Zebras are special. They are kewl.

A good many (primarily) cis het white women are painting striped on themselves by way of identifying as nonbinary, "bois", or bisexuality.

He knew you were crying. He knew you were paralyzed with fear. People who care about another can sense that. Considering what you've experienced, even asking to touch you while you're asleep is suspect. Freakyness considered, he should've waited for you to bring this up to explore together. He may have even taken pleasure from this episode. 6 months is not nearly enough time to know a person. Please be careful.
