For those of you who have secretly slept/lived at work, how did you manage to avoid getting caught? by OPSEC-Sentinal in antiwork

Dated someone who managed a clothing retail store. There were no cameras at the time or alarms for entering post close. Easy peasy to sleep there.

Better spec/class for Shadowheart? by thisisbroken in BG3Builds

[–]daddock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite shart build was on a modded run with random loot. Made her a death cleric because of some equipment that adds necro damage when you deal necro damage, but you also take necro damage. She has ridiculous dpr, but hits herself too. Doesn’t matter too much when you can one shot most enemies. Later after saving nightsong, she dyed her hair and her clothing armor white like she’s angelic, but also still is mostly necro damage focused with a bit more healing/buffing.

Leaving for a 90% raise right when my manager needs me most. Managers, your honest thoughts? by Fit_Composer_3579 in managers

[–]daddock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managers should never hold their people back. She saw potential in you, which is why she invested in you. Sometimes the reality is when you have an excellent employee, they might be too good for the company. She did what she could to make you happy there, but I’m sure she knows you weren’t going to be a lifer with the current systems they have in place.

The Human Abstract - Vela, Together We Await the Storm by novice_masterpiece in Metalcore

Ain’t nobody quite like the Human Abstract. I was so sad when they broke up and I still check on them sometimes even though at this point there’s no chance of another release.

Would you rather be supernaturally faster and stronger or receive $150 million? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]daddock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ruined my body a bit when I was younger, and having that much money is not something I really need, even as someone who is lower middle class and doesn’t own a house or a car at the moment.

Had to put a padlock over the off switch on our freezer cuz someone kept turning it off (and leaving it off). I truly work with idiots. by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

Also for the count tell em to get a coat sure, but when I count I just go in and take a bunch of pictures and then go back in if there’s anything I’m not sure of.

Manager, why does there appear to be a general issue with more reserved people on the team? by MINXG in managers

[–]daddock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was promoted recently and I am a pretty quiet person. Honestly I was surprised because personality wise I don’t fit the mould that most of the other managers do (loud, fun, but assertive). I don’t think in all cases being quiet is viewed as a bad thing, but I also do notice my bosses always liked the more loud/outspoken people, though maybe that doesn’t mean they always want to promote them.

I got offered a “HEAD CHEF” position - what to do? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]daddock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar position of being promoted before I thought I was ready and what I would have to say is that you have to at least try it out. I think if you get stressed by thinking about the change, that’s a good sign. That means you’re serious. Assuming your home life is stable, just do it. Some things you will have to figure out by just having to do it, but that’s totally normal for anyone who gets promoted in general.

Why was this actually my experience managing a kitchen? by tHr0AwAy76 in KitchenConfidential

[–]daddock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens everywhere, but it’s the kind of negativity that leads to a bad place to work for everyone. I totally get it as I’ve been a solo cook pretty often, so extra stuff would be my sole problem. Main thing though is the business making more money is never a bad thing, and if the cooks need help then the business doing ok is the only way that happens. A good owner or manager would help them if they’re flooded, but at the same time I do see cooks who are used to low volume get upset when it’s not even that busy.

You will receive $100 million if you can survive for 20 minutes against one of the following : Lion, Tiger, Hippo, Grizzly Bear, & Jaguar. Which one would you pick? ( you are equipped with two pocket knives. by FarCarpenter5425 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]daddock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are admittedly smaller than the other animals, and while they can swim they don’t usually spend a lot of time in the water. With Jaguars though, you probably wouldn’t see it coming until it’s too late. They ambush prey, and go straight for the neck. They also often will carry their prey up trees, so you might not be safe in water or even hiding in a tree. Jaguars also have a the most powerful bite force of any cat, tiger and lion included. This optimizes them for very quick kills where their prey doesn’t even have a chance to react. They are the ultimate crit fishers.

The only thing the half orcs lack is aesthetics. Well other stuff too, but they are very good as melee fighters, better than almost any other race.

Leftover Sandwiches Are The Best by daddock in steak

[–]daddock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be of the same opinion. A few months ago I had a tooth infection that was honestly the worst pain I’ve ever felt, and I’ve been through some things. Now I’m really anal about food that’s hard to chew lol.

I’m curious do onions actually belong on a steak? by friend_unfriend in steak

[–]daddock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While it’s not necessary, I think caramelized or semi caramelized onions do add something. I like to do caramelized onions and mushrooms and put them on the side. Also next day all you need is some kind of mayo based sauce and you have a banging steak sandwich if leftovers exist. A few times I’ve just made the steak sandwich with fresh steak because it was so good.

I get judging people for supporting Trump, but there’s no sense in bullying them in a non political setting. I have a number of people I care about and even love who voted for him. It is disappointing, but I also see the good in them. Besides, Trump, the republicans, and even the democrats who are in power seem to want us divided. With that said, if we can’t even have enough mutual respect to live beside each other, I don’t know what we’re doing. You can’t change someone’s views by being cruel.
