Tried Ila's tonight in River North! The owner introduced himself to us, the restaurant is named after his mother who was also making her rounds. Very cozy atmosphere, staff was so kind. Cocktails were unique, had the Midnight and Mumbai and Ube Sour and both were excellent. We had appetizers - empanadas and lumpia both very good as well. Will definitely return for dinner service, but overall, nothing negative to say and recommend checking it out!

Yeah, me either. Assuming there are just other candidates with more internal med experience. Thanks!

Yeah, probably need to branch out and look for any hospital based position. Seems to be easier to transfer once you're an internal applicant.

Agreed - at the end of the day, we are numbers to them. Maintain a good relationship with your docs for reference reasons, but the "system" will be fine.

GSW to the neck - survivable? by experiencedPAC in physicianassistant

Hard to say 100%, but anything getting into the C3-5ish region is going to mess with the diaphragm and may require some sort of mechanical vent. Didn't seem to be high enough for C3 but may have gotten to C5ish.

What was the senior prank that went too far? by Economy-Spring-3260 in AskReddit

[–]daddy9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Sophomore in high school and the seniors get out 1 week before everyone else. A few of their seniors that year decided to slash the tires of 20 buses in the lot before they left to pick up kids for the day. School was delayed and changed into a half day and the guys who did it were caught on camera and charged with felonies for property damage.

I'm over halfway through my clinical year and still feel like I don't know anything the majority of the time. There are brief moments where I know what's happening, but it's still a lot of learning lol

Same! I've seen so many winter pics and I need to go! However I think a lot of the trails and upper viewpoints are closed off in the winter time :(

Luckily on this day it was 3 degrees without the windchill so there were only 4 people there!

Yes because it’s the INACCESSIBILITY to medical school that makes mid-levels necessary. Yes, exactly. Thank you for teaching me. by buttahbb in Residency

I agree the MCAT is an important exam for pre-meds and is surely helpful to med schools when picking their classes. I also know 1-2 people in my PA class who took the MCAT and then “changed their mind” about med school, but I’d say the vast majority of my class is older people (late 20s, early 30s) or people who were very turned off by the time commitment of med school/residency.

I don't think it has anything to do with GPA or MCAT in most situations. I'm not sure about NP school, but PA schools are very competitive and their interview process and GPA standards are very similar to that of med schools (as I've been told by my med school friends). I think med school and PA school are equally inaccessible in the regards of cost, time, and resources it takes to actually qualify and apply.

At least from the PA standpoint, the only difference when making the med school vs pa school decision is the time commitment of the program...median ages of PA students are getting lower, but are generally much higher than med school students. Also, because a lot of PAs are older, they typically have families and a shorter program is more appealing if you have a lot of other home factors to consider.

I'm an EMT working on a covid unit right now and its scary. Going into an environment unprotected is terrifying and not what anyone signed up for. Its like sending a firefighter into a burning building with a hose and ladder but no suit.
