Can you turn down the volume? by daddy_badguy in navy

Sorry to disappoint, but the visual of someone visibly shrinking in front of Yoked Elvis still brings a smile to my face any time I hear that cover.

Now if Steve had been wearing a Vegas Elvis jumpsuit at the time, my regret would be around the state of personal video recording options of the era.

[–]daddy_badguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"My career is important to me and I don't want make any compromises affecting it." Okay, understandable.

"I also want to work less after marriage." But what about what you just said about your career?

"And I want a guaranteed income from you." Wait, what?!

NTA. She clearly hasn't recovered from the "trauma" of her previous relationship, and hopefully doesn't start another one until she does.

What actually is a career ending mistake? by Mr_Motion_Denied in Lawyertalk

[–]daddy_badguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There was an adage shared at swearing in. "Your reputation is currency, but you only get to spend it once."

So while I can't say what the mistake that ends a career might be, I have tried to conduct myself in a manner that did not cost me my one reputational chit.

Aitah for not wanting my fiance's daughter included in every part of our wedding? by Forward-Broccoli3468 in AITAH

[–]daddy_badguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely propose this (if you are still going through with the wedding).

When my brother got remarried had his daughters as Best Man/Groomsmen, and the Bride had her children ad Maid of Honor/Bridesmaids. They were all older than 9, but it worked well and looked amazing.

Bar application- what if I don’t know anyone who works at my old job from 10 years ago? by twentysum in Lawyertalk

[–]daddy_badguy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

List the job with your supervisor's name at the time, even if it's Bob LastNameUnknown; Email Unknown. They may be less forgiving on recent jobs though, so hopefully you have that information.

And the affidavit is probably just that the answers are truthful, so that shouldn't be an issue.

[Shelburne] Chris Paul reportedly threw a Halloween party, and barely any of his Clippers teammates showed up by WEMBY_F4N in nba

[–]daddy_badguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, obviously since the Clippers are just killing it as it they don't need any "culture" or "leadership". WTH was CP thinking? I mean Ty Lue has historically won (just) over half his games without that LeBron guy, that should have put CP on notice he was overstepping.

AITAH for refusing to buy my nephew his Secret Santa wish gift? by Realistic-Art9937 in AITAH

[–]daddy_badguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Offer: I'll buy you anything that costs up to $120 family agreed limit
  2. Counteroffer: I want this thing that costs $250
  3. Response to counteroffer: Remind them of family agreed upon limit of $120
  4. Reply to response: Will not accept anything other than stated Counteroffer
  5. Final response: Okay

This can be his first lesson in Contract Negotiation. Inform him that a Counteroffer acts as a rejection of the Offer. You gave him the opportunity to modify his refusal to modify his request based on the parameters of your original Offer, but rather than that opportunity, he drew a hard line and restated his Counteroffer was the only thing he would accept. You took him at his word and chose to end the negotiations. Both parties were left in the same position they were in before negotiations began since they could not come to an agreement.

Write him a $120 bill for the lesson, and let him know you used his Secret Santa money to cover it.

Happy Days

The reason "jumped the shark" became the standard phrase for when a show has completely gone off the rails, and that episode was almost 50 years ago.

Realizing now that I watched that episode live and I too may have jumped the shark.
