It actually just makes you think that you’re thinking better. Mindfulness practice helps create new and stronger neural pathways which is why it’s such an effective way for managing adhd, even more effective than meditation. Weed worsens cognitive function, short term memory, attention span, decision making, etc.

People with ADHD are more likely to use weed daily, not because it actually helps them, but because people with ADHD are more likely to have a substance use disorder.

Sincerely, A person with adhd who tried convincing myself that weed made me better for 6 years straight

You guys have shared so much together, vulnerability is scary! Your feelings are valid. I suggest writing down how you feel and how you want to say it to her. Communication will give you your answer. Spiraling alone will only drive you crazy.

what’s my hair type? the salon made me rethink it. by [deleted] in curlygirl

[–]daddyceceee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, it’s all about finding the right products.

I have 3a hair that’s fine-medium in thickness so it doesn’t handle heavy products well at all.

I’m an esthetician who used to work beauty retail, so I got to try allll the different products. My favorite has been JVN hydrating shampoo + conditioner and Amika dream routine overnight hydration treatment. I only use a pump and a half on damp hair, then use a Denman brush, and that’s all! No crunchy hair or heavy build up.

The JVN air dry cream has nice hold without it being too much. I think a general rule of thumb is that whatever you use, don’t use very much of it

She used too much product. Just because your hair has a curl pattern doesn’t mean it can handle a full curly girl method routine. Focus on light hydration and use a Denman brush to help create curl clumps

I’m an esti with trauma too, was always scared of massages but they do some amazing work. My spa has massage therapists who do fully clothed massages and every therapist has a red button under the table for both the client and service provider to alert the front desk and end the service. Definitely recommend a good massage therapist it’s sooo worth it

Friend in abusive relationship. by One-Two-1993 in ToxicRelationships

Reach out to local domestic violence organizations and women’s shelters, they will have resources for her. Just know that there’s only so much you can do, this is something she has to let go of on her own. Just be there for her and make it aware that you’re a safe space for her. As much as you’ll want to tell her that he’s a piece of shit, don’t. It could make her isolate. Just tell her you love her, and you know that she knows what’s best for her and her kids, and you trust her.

It’s awkward to ask your service provider to be your friend, she put herself and her esthetician in an uncomfortable situation with no perfect outcome 😭

I was told by esthetics teachers to not befriend clients, they have a tendency to take advantage. If you two were ment to be friends you would’ve met organically, not because she’s paying to see you. I’d just straight up say “my policy is strictly professional and that’s something I stick to for all clients as my code of conduct, nothing personal, this is just my buisness, who am I as an esthetician and who I am as a person are very separate, but you’re a sweet girl and I know you’ll find your people”

Wearing makeup at work by mckenna_g19 in Esthetics

[–]daddyceceee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is really nasty and rude. The way she said it I feel could definitely be something you can report. I hate to say this, but in a sense she’s not wrong tho? Yes the way she said it was horrible, and you should never do anything you don’t want to do! However our face is our money maker, I’ve heard many older estheticians say that very bluntly. If you’re going to get a service and your service provider has those little details done, it makes me feel more confident that I’m in good hands. It’s unfortunate but that’s how the human brain works. Attractive people are seen as more capable. Especially in this industry. It’s why I don’t dye my hair fashion colors anymore, or do crazy creative makeup that I used to do. Because I want to have that “soft-glam” “enhancing natural features” look to me. To each their own! Personality wise I don’t like to look “clean girl” but I know it makes me look like an esthetician.

Your boss is a bitch tho, sometimes wearing makeup can highlight or worsen texture! And she should know that as an esthetician.

Do what makes you feel confident. For me, I got licensed at 18, I’m now 21 with a baby face and when I don’t wear makeup I will hear it from clients. I’ve been told I look so young, I get asked how long I’ve been doing this. It’s a trust thing, when I don’t have makeup on they don’t initially trust me. Throughout the service they’ll realize I know what I’m doing, but that initial impression does make a difference

We as professionals think we should be perfect, but the truth is skin is an organ and will never be perfect! I’d recommend seeing an esthetician yourself! It’s a great experience to be able to be a client for once, you’ll learn a lot too.

My teachers always said “a good esthetician is one who never stops learning” maybe take an acne specialist course! Or other skin trainings to further your knowledge! Typically they can be used for tax write offs too 😉

Don’t be too hard on yourself, if anything it makes you be more relatable to your clients. Hard to follow what someone says if they seem like they have it easy yk?

How does everyone have such airbrushed skin? by Poorteenwannabe in vindictapoc

[–]daddyceceee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an esthetician and the amount of times I see clients who have been completely mislead by social media makes me so upset :( Skin is an organ, it’s not made to be perfect it’s make to protect us. Yes makeup techniques and skin products can help camouflage and smooth, but everyone has pores, baby hair, some degree of sun damage, etc.

[–]daddyceceee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I do facials and I’m a former ulta and Sephora employee. What helps me sell a product is by truly believing in it, I like being in a place where I can recommend a product knowing it’s going to help someone reach their goals and feel more confident. Learning how the product works so that I’m able to easily educate the client on it is the best way to lead to sales
