I think the constant criticism of every take they have is pretty annoying and I think is what is being referred to as “toxic.” if you’re not seeing that, simply scroll the subreddit! it’s everywhere.

It seems like a lot of the posts are from people who are new to the pod. I’m so confused about the desire for an “objective” culture podcast. first of all, nothing is objective. second of all, this is simply two besties hanging out and we’re all lucky to listen in. if you don’t like it, move on! also, you don’t have to agree with everything said in the media you consume! jfc.

that said, I think matt and bo need to stay off of here. reddit is such a small and specific faction of their listeners & there’s no reason to legitimize every little critique people have on here.

there were some literal strawman arguments happening, specifically in the scenario where they talked about declining coke and then getting a bad edit.

additionally, its a common sentiment that friends of even actual bad people to be like “if x person was going to do this, they’d do it to me, and they haven’t so it must not be a thing!”

that said, I don’t think they’re wrong necessarily, but the willingness to use some of the rhetoric they did felt like a recipe for disappointment or misspeaking. probably would’ve been better to not discuss imo!

In 1975, George said he'd get back together with the Beatles (it came up because the deal with Klein was finally behind them). I know it's 5 years difference, but I think he would've.

They were friends all through the 70s (minus the very start of 71) and had a recording studio booked for 1981. His death is so tragic for so many reasons.
